Entry 1
In the book The book thief it consists of only 5 main characters. The characters are Liesel meminger, Hans hubermann, Rosa hubermann, Max, and Rudy. This book takes place in 1939-1943 in Molching, Germany during world war ll. The big plot of this book/conflict is that. The young girl Liesel and her little brother Werner are on a train going to there new foster parents for a unknown reason at the time. But during this train ride her brother Werner dies. At his funeral she picks up a book called The Grave Digger's Handbook that falls from a grave diggers coat. When she found this book with me being the reader I honestly had no clue what she was going to do with it herself but as I read on I found out that this Grave diggers book was very

Because while this little girl is growing up she sees her little brother die and she is pulled from her mother and has to live with a new family. The next character Max is somewhat like Liesel. He has already gone through a lot of pain by deciding to leave his mom and going on to live his life. For him to be able to do that he must feel a lot of guilt and sorrow. The next character Hans Liesel foster dad is just so nice, loving, and caring. I think that he is all of these things because he didn't have to decide to just accept Liesel and Max but he does anyway and puts his life in danger. The next character is Hanses wife Rosa hubermann. At the beginning of the book she comes off as very mean and acts as if she doesn't want the child there at all but towards the end she reveals her true colors and shows she's not as bad. And the last character Rudy is Liesel best friend. He's always by her side and helps get her out of trouble every time he can and doesn't hesitate while doing it. I would say the theme of this book is courage because everyone of the characters show it Max shows it when he leaves his mom. Liesel shows it when she steals the book. Hans shows it by taking care of
The Book Thief, written by an Australian author, Markus Zusak, is a devastatingly powerful historical-fiction novel that bears several re-readings. Being one of the greatest, most divinely-written epilogues in my school library, The Book Thief, is a soul-shattering, thought-provoking story that undoubtedly can be recommended to the young and old alike. This poignant, prolonged, but achingly sad book, is the pinnacle of contemporary historical-fiction, poised to become a classic. Phenomenally breathtaking, and inspiring, bringing nothing but anticipatory dread, this lyrical, surreal book, though depressingly morbid at times, was my “gateway” to historical-fiction. The tribulations and trials provided in the novel, had inevitable passion, perspective
The Book Thief is set in the time of World War 2 where the Holocaust is present and disaster is everywhere. Throughout the story, Liesel, the main character, learns that words are extremely powerful and hold the ability for people to use them for good or for evil. Among the disaster and altercations, Liesel uses her literature to comfort her and make herself more powerful due to her knowledge, which demonstrates the theme of the story, the comfort and power of literature and words softens the pain of loss.
The Book Thief is about a young German girl named Liesel Meminger as she goes through life while living in Germany in 1939. Liesel and her foster parents live a normal life on 33 Himmel Street. There is only one difference between their family and the others, they are hiding Max Vandenburg (a Jewish man) in their basement during the time of the Holocaust. This story, narrated by Death follows the life of Liesel from her first step into 33 Himmel Street, until the day she died in Sydney, Australia.
The Book Thief, by Markus Zusak, takes place in 1940s Nazi Germany in the small town of Molching. The main character, Liesel Meminger, takes on a role as the foster child of Hans and Rosa Hubermann. She also meets a young boy named Rudy Steiner, who goes on to be her best friend and lover. In the book, Liesel faces many challenges big and small. From hiding a Jew in the basement to a thieving lifestyle, Liesel has to learn to overcome all of life's problems. Through all of this, she is supported by her foster father Hans Hubermann who is caring to people he barely knows, intelligence despite his lack of education, and generosity even when he has little for himself.
The Book Thief, written by Markus Zusak, outlines the tragedies and events that take place in Liesel Meminger’s life, in Nazi Germany. Throughout this young girl’s struggle of living in the oppressive Nazi regime, she is able to learn crucial lessons about life and the art of survival- some that follow her to the grave. The most important lesson she learned and the pivotal theme of the novel is that rebellion can be and beneficial in certain situations.
Liesel most definitely could have trusted Rudy with the secret of having Max hidden in her basement. Rudy was clearly Liesel’s best friend and partner in crime when Liesel was doing her acts of thievery stealing the books from the mayor’s wife bookself. The devotion to Liesel Rudy also had was strong and I believe Liesel could have trusted Rudy.
Many factors contribute to shaping Liesel's personality, the most evident being all the suffering she had to see and go through as a child. It's known that one would experience emotional damage after a traumatizing event, or in Liesel's case, events. Despite that, she was one of the most caring characters in the novel. Liesel willingly read stories to calm
The book thief takes us through a journey of Liesel and her struggle through the times of the Holocaust. Moving to a new city and being adopted by a new family Lisel goes through many challenges by has her new friends and family to support her. We start with Hans Hubermann her new father, a generous down to earth man who is an ex soldier.
Since The Book Thief is a historical fiction text, the fictitious characters interact in a realistic WWII setting in Germany. Three characters in the book, Max, Rudy, and Rosa develop their identities within the parameters of the Nazi controlled society. However, if Max, Rudy, and Rosa were characters in today's society, their lives would be different. In this paragraph I will list some of the physical appearances, personality, etc of Max, Rudy, and Rosa.
Trust was accumulated quickly, due primarily to the brute strength of the man’s gentleness, his thereness. The girl knew from the outset that Hans Hubermann would always appear midscream, and he would not leave” (Zusak 36-37). This shows how Hans Hubermann, Liesel’s foster papa, would comfort Liesel when she needed it most. She was continuously having nightmares that replayed the death of her brother, but Hans was always there when she awoke to make sure she felt safe. Hans’ words that comforted Liesel and Liesel’s words that comforted her neighbours proves that words can

“Handle them carefully, for words have more power than atom bombs.” - Pearl Strachan Hurd. The Book Thief is a story about Liesel Meminger, a nine-year-old German girl who lives with Hans and Rosa Hubermann after her mother was forced to give her away. I believe the most important example of the power of words in The Book Thief is Max’s word shaker story because of Hitler and Liesel’s influence.
Liesel became Max’s outlet to the outside world, and caring for Max became Liesel’s personal mission. With such a bleak world they lived in filled with war and hunger, they found joy in each others friendship that would last their entire lifetime. In contrast, Macbeth and Lady Macbeth’s collaboration in Macbeth can only be seen as harmful and toxic. By feeding off of each other on and becoming drunk on the power that they were
The main character, an adopted little girl named Leisel, is with her brother on a train, being delivered to their new parents. Her brother died on the train. She then stole her first book, a gravedigger's handbook. Her new father, was a smoking accordionist, her mother, was mean. She did love Leisel, though.
In the movie,“The Book Thief”, it takes place during World War II, Liesel Meminger, the protagonist of the story is sent off to live with Hans and Rosa Hubermann. In the beginning, Liesel’s mother could not take care of her in fear that her belief in Communism, would endanger Liesel and her brother due to the fact that it was disapproved at the time. While on the way to the Hubermann household, Liesel’s brother unfortunately dies, having to bury him onto the side of train tracks. After his burial, Liesel noticed one of the gravediggers dropped a book, her interest sparks, making her take the book, therefore which then gave her the title,“The Book Thief”. Soon after the burial, Liesel arrives at her new home, Liesel tended to be shy and
