The main reason why Linda presumes Biff has the ability to save Willy is due to the two men’s prior close relationship. Before the incident in Boston Biff idolized his father and in return his father Willy placed Biff on a pedestal. Willy’s self worth had a direct correlation with Biff’s success. Near the end of high school Biff began to strive only to please his father. He knew he had his father’s pride weighing on his shoulders and the need to please his father always ominously loomed clouding his mind. It can be crushing to realize how one differs from oneself original self perception. Willy is known to be unsuccessful by his Boss QUOTE and a disgrace by his son Biff. He thought to Biff he was a form of inspiration or a hero in some way and at work he strived to be a renowned salesman are at the very least a loyal employee. Willy realized he was not after Biff’s lack of communication and his firing from his company. Difficult to face the truth he turns to flashback, unable again to face the world. This is perhaps a factor to Willy suicide; something Biff could not and would not have ever been able to control. Willy’s glimpses into the real world make him realize how much he is unlike the man in his mind. He is constantly disappointed with himself and this creates an unhealthy as well as unstable mind set; a minuet searching for rest and ease. The only way for this to occur , for a mind to be at rest, is for it to stop. Willy looking for an escape route fell into this suicidal lapse. A serious solution as it might seem to some may seem to be the most suitable escape for someone;
