Boston University's Statement on Diversity
Boston University's originators opened its ways to all understudies without respect to religion, race, or sexual orientation. Building and supporting a dynamic group of researchers, understudies, and staff stays key to our central goal of adding to, and planning understudies to flourish in, an inexorably interconnected world.
We endeavor to make situations for learning, working, and living that are advanced by racial, ethnic, and social differing qualities. We try to develop a climate of appreciation for individual contrasts in background, sexual introduction, and religious conviction, and we try to be free of scholarly parochialism, boundaries to get to, and ethnocentrism.
Accomplishment in an aggressive, worldwide milieu relies on our progressing responsibility to welcome and draw in the knowledge, imagination, and goals of all people groups. The fabulousness we look for rises up out of the commitments and gifts of each individual from the Boston University
Washburn University has always been proud of having diversity since it first opened its doors to the public 151 years ago. If you are to look around campus many are able to see how much diversity is valued by the campus as a whole, they know everyone is different and each person has their own story to tell. If a university made it where no one is allowed to talk about where they came before and how they ended up where they are in life. what is the point of being proud of who you are? For me, it is important for each person to be proud of the person who they are because they could have had to overcome so much in life to make it to this point of being an undergraduate.
Vance Matthews: I am from Marina, California where I attended Monte Vista Christian High School. It wasn’t until my sophomore year of high school that I decided to push myself so that I could get into a four year college. I shot-gunned my applications, applying to twenty two universities. When looking into Tufts, the passionate students and professors, and the varied programs the school offered, aligned with what I wanted in a school. Now, I can’t believe that I am a rising sophomore. My friends say I am an anomaly because my interests are extremely varied and I’m involved with so many activities. At Tufts, I’ve been mostly involved with the Institute for Global Leadership’s EPIIC program on Russia, and the ALLIES Civilian-Military organization.
Carrie Shearer ’15 credits the unique range of experiences she had at Saint Joseph’s with helping prepare her for a smooth transition to a top university. “Being a member of the first four-year graduating class at Saint Joe’s was an experience that has changed my life forever,” said Shearer. “It was always an adventure and, more importantly, a privilege to constantly be developing and fostering new aspects of the Saint Joe’s identity, which will last for years to
As I felt the snow crunch beneath my boots and snowflakes melt on my face, I was somehow not shivering. In fact, I wasn’t cold in the slightest. It was almost as if my freshly initiated love for Boston College warmed me from the inside out. From the moment I stepped foot on campus on that brisk February day, I knew that Boston College was where I belonged. After completing my tour and participating in an information session, I realized that, through its strong Jesuit education, Boston College would offer innumerable opportunities for me to grow both personally and intellectually.
Our challenging curriculum combines the best contemporary learning models with a reflective spirituality that fosters students’ knowledge – both of the wider world and of themselves. Our location in the dynamic city of Boston plays a vital role in exposing students to a variety of experiences; our extensive Jesuit network expands their horizons across the globe.

Rhode Island College has given me opportunities to learn and work alongside knowledgeable, passionate professors dedicated to student success. As an undergraduate, I was fortunate to conduct my first independent research study, under Dr. Katherine Lacasse, and proudly displayed the
While it seems I’ve always known Georgetown University to be a school of excellence, committed to Jesuit Catholic principles, it wasn’t until I visited the campus last spring that I really fell in love with it. Not only did it look like something out of a movie, but the students really impressed me. All the students I met that day - from my tour guide to those in the Red Square - exuded a contagious enthusiasm that clearly sought to engage the world and serve it. Georgetown’s history, tradition, and sense of purpose were obvious. I want to be part of that experience.
loftier pursuits than just traditional school subjects, I began to consider myself a part of a small cohort of like-minded individuals interested in moving beyond the typical curricula, eager to instead acquire knowledge and venture into atypical areas of scientific inquiry. This individuality has thus led me to feel a great affinity with NYU.
I find Boston College's tremendous course offerings and suitable Core Curriculum, along with the ability to learn in small classes and be able to conduct research with world-renowned and dedicated professors appealing. Classroom resources at Boston College, furthermore, move beyond the traditional PowerPoint slides, as museums, theaters, and galleries are readily available. The outgoing nature of the students, the beautiful facilities, and the general atmosphere all make BC a college that I would thoroughly enjoy my time
As a person and as a student, diversity is important to me. Not just diversity in ethnicity, but also in opinions. I long to be in a community where there is diversity in perspectives and Boston University’s community exemplifies this.
Even though Boston’s campus is only two miles long, it’s full of beautiful buildings, structures, and restaurants (“Getting Around Campus”). Boston homes over ten libraries specialized for many different topics, such as African studies, astronomy, and music (“Boston University”). Biking and rollerblading is a great activity. Not only is it an easy way around campus, but also a fun activity to do with friends! If you are rushing to get from one side of the campus to the other, there is the long transit system to help you get there in time (“Getting Around

Yale's range is both nearby and worldwide. It accomplices with its main residence of New Haven, Connecticut to reinforce the city's group and economy. Growing up just minutes away from the city, I have always loved going into Boston. Ever since I was a little girl, I always wanted to be in Boston. When I went on my first official college tour at Boston University, during the fall of my junior year in high school, I knew this was the school I had to strive for. BU’s has a wide range of majors and minors, offering more than 250 areas of
