Joseph Campbell is very well known for his twelve stages of a Hero’s Journey. Not every hero goes through every stage in the journey, nor do they necessarily go through them in order. After learning these stages and watching the movie Amélie and Pay it Forward, I can accurately detect the stages Amélie and Trever go through during their journey. THE ORDINARY WORLD.

In the short story, “Where are you going? Where have you been?” written by Joyce Carol Oates depicts how being young and innocent, conflicts with the reality of evil people out there. Connie, the main character of the story, is a 15 year old girl that has sexual fantasies. When she is confronted with the harsh realities of adulthood, she cannot think and ends up making a life decision that saves her family, making her the hero. Hero is someone who makes sacrifices that they may not be happy to do and may impact their lives in a negative way, but they do it for the sake of people they love. On the webpage hero means, “A person, who in the opinion of others, has special achievements, abilities, or personal qualities and is regarded a a role model or ideal” (dictionary). They are looked upon and considered role models because no anyone is willing to make all the sacrifices that they do, but desire to be like them.

A hero is not a person with strength or a person how fight monsters. A hero is a person that inspires you to be the best you can be, a person how tells you that there is nothing in the world that you can’t do, a person how will speak to you in a different way. My hero doesn’t need strength or able to fight monster, but their able to change your life in a different way. My heroes inspire me to be the person I can be today and other every day. The people in my store inspire me to do thing I never want to do but they make me do it by changing my mind. The reason I picked these people because they don’t just inspire me they inspire other people to.

A Hero meets all kinds of people, some who help them, and others who completely go against them; while meeting these people the Hero must also go through a series of challenges that will either make them or break them. Leigh Anne comes across people who are exceedingly willing to help her in her journey. Coach Cotton, for example, helped her by taking Michael under his wing, and getting him accepted to Wingate Christian School. Coach Cotton was able to look past the fact that he wanted Michael at some point to play football for him, and help him with his academics. Ms. Boswell, Michael’s science teacher, helps Michael with his course work, she is, to some extent, Michael’s voice to his other teachers. Although the film never shows Leigh Anne and Ms. Boswell meeting, it is safe to assume that they are allies. When Michael needs a tutor to help him bring up his GPA Leigh Anne hires Miss Sue. Miss Sue stands by Leigh Anne and Michael even after Michael graduates from Wingate. In order to be a Campbellian Hero, Leigh Anne must have allies who help her along the way. She could not possibly complete her task by herself. Leigh Anne has a plethora of tests during her journey. Leigh Anne’s first test is when

She has the typical princess look, the blonde hair and the blue eyes. Although she is unbelievably beautiful, she is also very bold and compassionate. Buttercup seems to glide through in this movie due to her beauty, not her brains. While running away from Prince Humperdinck, Buttercup and Wesley run into the fire swamp where Buttercup’s static is truly revealed. Within the first few minutes, Buttercup runs into a flames spurt and her dress catches on fire; Wesley comes to her rescue. After surviving the fire, Buttercup falls into a pit of lightning sand and Westley jumps after her to save her. As soon as they are clear of the lightning sand, they get attacked by the R.O.U.S (rodents of unusual size) and once again; Wesley saves her from the attack. Although Buttercup has a very bold attitude, her looks save her from all her problems. As a character, Buttercup did not interest me much because of how static her personality is. A person who is brave enough to come out of their comfort zone and take risk, someone who never gives up even when things may seem impossible, a clever and creative mind, and to top it all with a heart that only means good; all mold together to make a hero.

My hero is Kellista Simons. Kellista Simons is human created by Kina Simons & Kelvin Leak. Kellista is a 16 year old junior at Anson High School. Looking up to Them Heroes differ from person to person, but many have similar characteristics. They are people that society looks up to. The characteristics of the heroes are the best parts about them. Alice in “Tough Alice” is someone who visits Wonderland often and has to defeat the Jabberwock.

They can't patch him up, then Jeff walks in eating peanut butter James tackles Jeff, Derek has to pull James off him Kayden comes in to make sure Jeff ok. When the word "hero" is spoken, everyone has different thoughts. Some will think of super powers like flying and saving people from villains; while others have a certain person they know or have heard of that come to mind who have done something to make a difference in the lives of others but who is a hero to you? To answer this question you must first ask yourself what a hero is; what comes to your mind when someone says the word. When I am confronted with these questions I always have the same thoughts; smart, strong will power, and someone who stands up for what they believe is right.
