When influential figures from history are discussed, sometimes people neglect to remember Biblical figures. It can be argued that the lives of the people from the Bible are more impactful than for example; Hitler or Genghis Khan (Makinson,2017.) Jesus is definitely realized as more than just a man who influenced others, but today the discussion is about his mother who has changed generations of people, both for good and bad. Most people are aware of the story of Mary, whether they believe the miracle of a virgin birth or not. Mary was a Jewish girl in Nazareth who was engaged to Joseph. The angel,Gabriel visited her, and explained that God had chose her to carry His son. And He needed to be named Jesus. She decided to follow God, and submit to His plans however difficult they may be. She became pregnant , before she was married, which was very unfortunate in that time for any woman. She told Joseph that the baby was God’s, and eventually he came to believe her. She was by Jesus’s side, raising Him, and learning to have more faith through watching His life. A pivotal moment in her story was when Jesus went missing on a trip to Jerusalem. His parents were forced to turn back after they had left the city and find Him. When they did this, after much searching, they found Him at a temple, answering questions for the elders. This experience reminded Mary to take Jesus a little more seriously as He clearly had knowledge that she couldn’t understand. She was by Jesus’s side when he died on the cross, and her faith was very strong by witnessing everything her son had done throughout His life, and after His death. The name “Mother Mary” has carried on throughout history, and is immortalized in the pages of the Bible. Not many women are, since the people who wrote the Bible are men and women did not have as much value in those times. There are some influential women mentioned, but they are
Once Jesus of Nazareth was born, and the New Testament was written, women began to play a larger role in the church. Although men such as Peter were still significant, women became more involved in the establishment of the Church.
The Virgin Mary also provides an allegory between her, the archetype, and the Libson girls. In the Catholic church the Virgin Mary is the mother of of God and
Mary is another important and sometimes overlooked figure in Christianity. Mary was chosen by God to give birth to the Savior of the world. She did not complain about being chosen; she simply agreed to God’s plan. Mary is an excellent model of faith for all Christians. By being Jesus’s mother, Mary played a part in the salvation of all people. She made sure Jesus was taken cared for and raised right. Through Mary being the mediator between God and humans, Mary could be seen as bringing Jesus to the world. In John 19:25-27, Jesus was about to die, so he told a disciple to care for his mother, as she was his own. By looking at Mary’s life, it is important to create space in one’s life for God and sharing God’s love with the world.
Mary Magdalene and Mary the Mother of God are both biblical women who were faced with similar societal standards even thought these time periods are hundreds of years apart. Mary Magdalene was always seen as the “rebellious” women in the bible when it turns out she really wasn 't doing anything wrong. Similarly David Van Biema wrote about this topic in Time Magazine saying that Mary was first seen in the Gospel of Luke as
When discussing the Bible’s New Testament, there are several individuals aside from Jesus that gander a lot of attention. It is not uncommon to hear pastors and priest preaching about the disciples that walked with the messiah during his time of great works during a Sunday service. There are many lessons to be learned from the experiences of and trails faced by the men that knew best. However, even though the Bible is considerable a masculine text, there are many notable women sprinkled throughout it. Most notable, of course, would be the mother of Jesus, Mary. She made several appearances throughout the Gospel from the moment the angel came to her and said “Greetings, favored one! The Lord is with you” (Luke 1:28) to let her know that she was going to be the mother of the “Son of the Most High” (Luke 1:32) to the moment she stood witness to the crucifixion of that Son. Today, after Jesus, Mary – sometimes also called The Virgin Mary – is among those most revered in the Bible. However, she is not the only Mary to have close ties to the Biblical savior. There are actually at least three other Marys to walk along side with Jesus at some point, but none more conversational than Mary Magdalene.
Through her 11 weeks of captivity, she only shed tears once. Her faith in God is what kept her going through this situation. She learns early on in her captivity that she would have to rely on God to survive. In the second remove, she states, “But the Lord renewed my strength still, and carried me along.” Mary knew God would be the one being to give her strength to push through. Even as she watched her child die and was forced to live in brutal conditions, she still put her entire faith in God. One verse that enabled her to keep going was Psalm 37:5, “Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.” Her strength and faith to push through make her an extraordinary
There have been numerous of contributing figures in history that have impacted individuals differently. The way they impact people vary religiously, politically and just about anything. Muhammad Ali was not just one of the greatest boxers to enter the ring, but a man of much more depth who greatly impacted the world during his lifetime.
Jesus Christ is worshiped around the world as being the savior of all mankind. His birth was a miracle because he was born from a virgin. Taken from the Holy Bible, in Matthew 1:18-25, it states
Mary also has the title of Mother of God, primarily to emphasize Jesus’ divinity. Her fiat—her yes—to the Archangel Gabriel’s announcement of God’s plan was crucial to our salvation. She is the ideal of Christian obedience, regardless of personal cost.
To buttress this, Matthew confirmed that the virgin was found to be with a child through the Holy Spirit (Matt. 1:18). In fact there are several incidences that took place which cannot make the virgin birth of Jesus untrue. Isaiah prophesized long time ago about this birth, Joseph planned to secretly end the relationship with Mary but the Angel spoke to him not to, Herod tried to kill baby Jesus because of how great He was going to be but he could not, some wise men (shepherds) were told about this child, Simon was told not to taste death until he sees this child and all this came to pass.
The Bible exalts women more than any other book ever written by mankind, for instance, there are more than 188 women mentioned in both the Old Testament and the New Testament (Klyman, 2014). However, majority of them have their names concealed. Among the women mentioned in the New Testament basically include prominent prophetesses, queens and leaders. Different roles of women in the bible, particularly the New Testament, are clearly outlined. Through the eyes of the current ideologies, the roles of women are primarily influenced by the cultural setting of the Old Testament as emphasized by Klyman (2014).

Many people throughout history have achieved to make a great impact within their community and all over the world. My favorite would have to be Jesus. Never has there been a man who has had such an impact on the world we live in today is Jesus. Born in the Roman Province of Judea and raised in the town of Nazareth in the Roman Province of Galilee, just north of Judea, Jesus spent most of his time doing ministry in Galilee where he was very successful and also went to Jerusalem to conduct ministry but was rejected and crucified while there. As proclaiming to be the Son of God and the prophesied Messiah to lead and save the world. This proved to be very controversial as many Jews thought that he was committing blasphemy and others accepting and
