Case Study: SFC Rose

I had the opportunity to work with Maurice as part of the command team of Bravo Battery 3-6 ADA. As a Battery Commander, Maurice was keenly aware of the importance of his mission to train the future Soldiers of the United States Army and Air Defense Artillery. Although the mission was always first, Maurice made a point of ensuring that the Soldiers under his command understood the importance of their contribution to the organization.

Performed duties of an SGL assigned to the Basic Leader Course (BLC) for the Fires Center of Excellence (FCOE). SPC Burton distinguished himself by exceptional meritorious service, demonstrating that as a SPC he was able to run a weapon team above standards. He executed all tasks as the senior guy in weapon squad. As a SPC his knowledge of the guns was flawless, he displayed tactical and technical competence, well beyond his pay grade. SNC delivered a confident and complete order successfully addressing all paragraphs of the five paragraph order. SNC assigned primary and secondary tasks to subordinates and reiterated the Enemy Situation. SNC properly controlled the fire team’s formation utilizing proper dispersion and smoothly transitioned from column to wedge. Upon enemy contact SNC relayed a clear and effective ADDRAC and directed SNC’s fire team to provide suppressive fire. SNC maintained mission focus when SNC’s fire team took a casualty. SNC directed his fire team in a tactically appropriate manner as they evacuated the casualty. Upon return to MA-2A SNC submitted the map to higher without being prompted by the evaluator. I was well positioned to execute the duties as Maintenance Control Safe for Flight Chief through two arduous detachments and work up cycles. I surpassed all expectations up and down my chain of command and was awarded appropriately for my leadership actions. I thrive on the opportunities to lead while providing mentorship and guidance to Sailors and Marines alike. My record of accomplishments as a professional, leader, manager and mentor exemplifies the traits required and will ensure my success if selected.

The grantee programs have the responsibility to evaluate and/or provide a progress report every year to their funding sources. The purpose is to find out the areas that require improvement and develop a plan to address these areas, and acknowledge the ones that are meeting the required standards. If a program director in this case Rose provides inaccurate information to her funding sources, she can be legally sued and lose her job.
