When parents first start realizing that their firstborn son is about to go to college, the feeling brings at least two concerns to their mind. First, they are saddened that their little boy is all grown up and about to head off into the world on his own. Second, the parents realize that they are about to get a huge hole in their bank account due to the fees that colleges require. The cost of college is so high that is forces the student to work at least one part-time job while attending college and causes families to worry constantly about the child in college.

Being that San Antonio, TX, is heavily populated with Veterans and U.S. Military, the San Antonio College offering great tuition prices is definitely a top choice for a veteran trying to stretch out their school funding. The changes consist of paying for in-state tuition rates and fees to the institution attended by the veteran or dependent spouse or children, as well as a monthly stipend to pay for books, supplies

Southern Methodist University (SMU) was the first major Methodist institution in the South to enroll African American students. SMU started the process of desegregation a decade before others, namely Duke, Emory, Rice, Tulane, and Vanderbilt. After Herman’s victory, SMU President Umphrey Lee went to the SMU Board of Trustees to open admissions for African Americans as regular students at Perkins School of Theology (Cashion, 2013). African Americans started attending SMU as regular students in January of 1951. Neither the church nor the city was ready to do what SMU did, and this is what makes the story so fascinating.
