A categorical analysis is when you use categorical variables that are qualitative in nature and absent of any measurement to draw conclusions, to make predictions, or to make business decisions based from the gathered data (Mirabella, 2011). Based on the data set provided in the sample, I conducted an analysis on the categorical variables regarding their gender, major, if employed and whether they work fulltime or not. I used the data to come to a few conclusions. I found that male students were more indecisive on a major compared to the women. Thirty five percent of the males were listed to have no major and only fifteen percent of the females were without a major. Out of all the students, Leadership was the most selected major at 35%

Edgar Allen Poe’s short story The Black Cat immerses the reader into the mind of a murdering alcoholic. Poe himself suffered from alcoholism and often showed erratic behavior with violent outburst. Poe is famous for his American Gothic horror tales such as the Tell-Tale Heart and the Fall of the House of Usher. “The Black Cat is Poe’s second psychological study of domestic violence and guilt. He added a new element to aid in evoking the dark side of the narrator, and that is the supernatural world.” (Womack). Poe uses many of the American Gothic characteristics such as emotional intensity, superstition, extremes in violence, the focus on a certain object and foreshadowing lead the reader through a series of events that are horrifying

In this paper I will examine the social structure theory, along with its definition and how the different types of theories make up the social structure theory. I will also attempt to discuss the strain, culture conflict, and social disorganization theory all of which make up the social conflict theory. I also wish to discuss the video “Tent City, Arizona” and answer the following questions, “How does the video you selected support a social structure theory? What is the primary subject or content of the video? What social issues are raised in the video? What major principles of sociological theory are addressed in the video? What might be some possible ramifications for social policy change?”
“We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, . . . do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.”(U.S. Constitution.) The very first paragraph of the United States Constitution leaves the reader feeling inspired, hopeful, and patriotic. The introduction truly is a solid introduction as it not only engages the reader with a hook, but also provides a list of the objectives they hope to accomplish through their document. As for the objectives I hope to accomplish through this document; I hope to provide a thoughtful and logical review of Article I of the United States Constitution from the perspective of a typical American high school student.

When I first signed up for University 101 back over the summer I thought that this class was a waste of time, and was just an easy credit. But I was wrong. University 101 ended up being my most demanding class and I was upset because I felt like none of the journals, activities, and discussions were useful or even worth my time. But I was wrong again. My UNV 101 class was different from the rest, it was different because I was a part of Opportunity Network. Opportunity Network has three instructors and I was very grateful to have Ms. Ebony to be my UNV 101 professor. Ms. Ebony and I became extremely close during this semester. Women were just as likely to be hired for the orchestra if they auditioned behind a screen and the individuals in charge of hiring could not form a belief about the performers gender. A sex category is a label given to someone solely based on their appearance or social cues. In section and lecture we cover sex category and said how just about everyone labels an individual in their own mind. We form an opinion of every individual labeling them as male or
A Chi-square method was used to test whether or not there is a relationship between gender and the individual’s military involvement. The test was conducted comparing the number of males who served in the military and the number of females who served in the military. Two categorical groups were made, Male and Female, and Yes and no. Variable 1: SEX had the option of Male or Female. The first pie chart shows the number of males versus the number of females that were surveyed. There were 2424 females who took the survey and 2076 males who took the survey. Variable 2: VETERAN2, the two main responses that were looked at were either yes or no. Options 1 through 3 were grouped together for the calculations because they represented an overall yes while options 4 and 5 represented an overall no. The second pie chart shows the individual five responses that were given. A majority of responses stated that either the individual never served in the military or that instead of the military they were a part of the National Guard or Reserves. A total of 3,801 surveyors were not involved with the military and 699 surveyors had served in the military. The bar graph shows the difference between the number of males who served in the military and the number of females who served in the military. The data that will be compared is the Male, Yes and Female, Yes values. The data in the bar graph indicates that there is a relationship between the two variables, Sex and Veteran2. There were 47 females who stated

The Black Cat, written by Edgar Allen Poe, is a short story about a man, also the narrator, who starts out by living a “happy” life with his wife and favorite black cat, Plato. Although, he begins to be consumed by his drinking and becomes irritable. The black cat used to be by his side but now avoids him. This irritability leads him into becoming overly aggressive, which results in him hurting and murdering the cat. Then, a second cat appears who looks the same as Pluto but with a white spot on his chest. Eventually, the man starts to feel anger towards the cat and attempts to murder him with an axe, but his wife stops him. Unfortunately, his wife was hit in the head. The man then decides to bury his dead wife in his basement wall. He thinks he has got away with murder, but in the end, one learns that he had accidentally buried the cat alive with his wife. The cat reveals his hiding spot when he is caught by the police. Although it seems that the main character has committed these actions solely from alcoholism, it is obvious that there are signs he is also suffering from a mental illness.
