There are many messages the Catholic Church wishes to teach us, as well as lead us to follow. Many of them are interrelated as well, as many of them center upon similar ideas, like love, giving, or life. A few themes include that everyone is a part of God's creation, God lives within all of us, God is love, human life is valuable, and nothing is impossible for God. We, as Catholics, believe that God is love- an important idea in the Church. Since God is within us all, we also all must have love within us. And since we're all a part of his creation, everyone is equally special and should be treated like they are. We're more than just a part of creation, however; we are modelled after God himself. He even chose us to take care of the rest of …show more content…
We are able to spread God's word, love each other, worship God, and do a lot more. But we have to reach out, and at the same time within ourselves, so we can be close with God. For some people God is easier to find within themselves, for others there's a lot in the way that has to be put aside. God is always there for us; growing a closer relationship with God enables you to help others see that God is in you, everyone, and even themselves. God is within everyone one of us. With that, nothing is impossible for us, as long as we have faith in God. We can live out this theme by putting all our trust in God. With him forever at our side and within us, we can follow the path he sets out for us, as long as we keep faith. God is love. If that's true, then we all have love, because God is within all of us. With growing closer to God, we are more able to spread His love to others. From spreading His love, we can give others a glimpse into what God is and live out this theme. Recently I fell into a spiral of despair and confusion. Everything seemed worthless and pointless, and I felt stupid and confused. But God cares about each and every one of us. Everything today led up to one smile. And then another, and then laughter. At the end of the day my thoughts felt gentle, or soft. Another way to describe it-

We can’t just listen and speak the words of God, but we must act upon them. As a community of believers we can coalesce and spread kindness to others by helping ones in need. I think that by being more active in our communities it allows us to become an upstanding and devoted Catholic. There are people in this world that need to be comforted and cared for, and by spreading love and proclaiming God’s eternal love, we can all make a change. Moreover, I think by just simply helping your neighbor or friend during a difficult situation makes you a better person trying to fulfill the
Pope Pius IX called the First Vatican Council in 1868. It was the Roman Catholic Church’s twentieth ecumenical council. It was held in the Vatican City. The purpose of this council was to attend to issues such as secularism, rationalism, and materialism. This council explored the principle of papal infallibility as well.
The principles of the Catholic social thought are broken down into nine separate principles, which will be explained below:
Over the course of decades, thousands of catholic priests and bishops sexually abused thousands of children. The Catholic Church attempted to cover up these incidents by re-positioning church leaders and has spent nearly 4 billion dollars over 65 years to redeem the church's name.
In this day in age, people of all ages and backgrounds have been pulling away from Catholicism. Many people have stopped going to Church weekly, which affects their relationship with God greatly. The Catholic Church has to convince its followers to revert back to their old ways of attending Church weekly and working to strengthen their relationship with God by not sinning and following His commandments. This message of reverting to the old ways and bettering their relationship with God is important and needs to be delivered because without it the Catholic Church will continuously lose followers especially with the younger generation already not having a strong relationship with God. Also without people taking their Catholic duties seriously, they will jeopardize their chances of going to Heaven. This powerful message would need to be delivered by priests and in such a way to instill fear into people because no emotion reaches people better than fear and it will
The Anglican Church, more commonly known as The Church of England, exists worldwide and has been since 1534. The service of an Anglican Church communion can be witnessed at St Matthews Anglican Church, West Pymble, Sydney. What is also evident in this worship are the beliefs of Christianity. These beliefs include that Christ is fully divine and fully human, God is the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, there is one God, Jesus resurrected and his eternal life after death.
Aquinas explains how we must have unbelievers in our world for religion to work and continue to grow. Catholics are all called to evangelize, and this helps others get to know God and his wonderous deeds. God in a sense asks us to evangelize by allowing certain evils:
The congregation of the Catholic Church was showing much more interest in their faith, while the condition of the clergy and churchmen declined. For the people belonging to the church there was a great attraction to the more ‘dramatic’ aspects of religion. Popular preachers, such as St. John Capistranó, attracted crowds into the thousands. There were also high masses on important feast days, but mass attendance was low otherwise. Processions also became very popular in the church; for example the Feast of Corpus Christie honoring Christ’s presence in the Eucharist. Pilgrimages to the Holy Land and Rome also became popular, some believers even making the journey on their knees. The congregation also abandoned the idea of mystical theology,
Catholic schools enjoy the reputation of providing an excellent education in all core subjects while also educating students in their faith and in the Gospel values. Furthermore, Catholic schools seek to serve all students, regardless of financial circumstances or cultural background. However, this recognition and stature did not come easily. The success of the Catholic school system is the product of the ongoing efforts of the leaders in the field. Beginning with the missionaries in the New World and continuing through today, Catholic educators have overcome great odds.
In this research paper, the author will examine the theology of the Emerging Church and discuss the dangers this kind of Christianity threatens on the church as a whole.
Coming from an Eastern Orthodox Church, I had very little knowledge of Catholicism. I decided to take Basics of Catholic Faith course in order to have an understanding of the Catholic Church and their teachings. In today’s world, there are many religions that teach different aspects of God. Catholic teachings offer a lot of moral and spiritual guidance that other Churches narrows down. Catholic Church says “Jesus is good news, and Catholic faith means graciously accepting that good news and sharing it with others.” This base idea of Catholicism is what people might get, that they can’t get from anywhere else.
The four marks of the Church describe the basic spiritual portion of the church and include the church to be one, holy, catholic, and apostolic. The Church didn’t simply develop these traits, but instead has these traits adopted from how Christ acted and how he was when he came down to Earth. The qualities of one, holy, catholic and apostolic “are qualities that Jesus Christ shares with his Church through the Holy Spirit.” The four marks of the Church were not immediately established into the Church however, and were established in 381, during the First Council of Constantinople. The council was brought together from the problem of them not being united throughout the Church.
The book of Romans chapter one, verse seven; To all those in Rome who are loved by God and called to be saints: Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
The message of Jesus Christ and the Church is reflected though the eight Catholic Social Teaching principles. The purpose of the eight principles is to integrate faith and influence our relationship with God. The primary principle is the life and dignity of the human person. The first Catholic Social Teaching affirms that the children of God is sacred and valuable from the time of conception until death. For instance, unborn children, homeless people, and students are all equal in dignity. Additionally, the Catholic Church defends the dignity of each person, since God created people to love and serve him. Overall, the first Catholic Social Teaching principle can be applied to my four years at Maria Regina High School.
