The shooting was executed by seniors Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold on April 20th, 1999. Thirteen people were killed, including the two shooters. The killers had meticulously calculated exact timing for every action they took that morning. Eric and Dylan’s initial plan, intended to kill hundreds of people, involved multiple bombs. They planned to shoot only those who survived the bombings. The first bomb they planted was a decoy, which was put in a field with other smaller bombs. It was set to go off at 11:14 a.m. Following this, they headed to the high school to plant two more bombs in the cafeteria, set to go off at 11:17. In addition, both of the boys’ cars were loaded with bombs and gasoline. At noon, these bombs were supposed to detonate. As the boys went into the school to plant the bombs, each had guns and pipe bombs in his backpack. However, none of the large bombs went off; only the pipe bombs in the field. By 11:19, Eric and Dylan figured out that the bombs had failed. At this time, the shooters ran up the external stairs to the west exit of the school.
