You cannot have peace without security and you cannot have effective security without peace. In August of this year, there was an estimate of 400 bodies that were collected across Bangui, the capital of the Central African Republic. This number was acquired in just three days and it served as a huge wake up call for the Central Africans. However, it was not long before another revolt that left twelve people dead, thirty people wounded, and children were not spared. Meanwhile in Denmark, reports are showing that they are stressing the protections of civil rights and humane treatment. For this reason, the county of Denmark is at an all time low of violence and misconducts. The Central African Republic separated itself from Boganda in December of 1958. However, all went wrong when Bokassa was elected president and eventually president for life in 1968. Denmark on the other hand went through a terrible slump when under German control. Innocent Danish people were arrested during World War II. In reaction to how poorly their people were treated, the Danish government designed a liberal system for all citizens, including inmates. According to Dr. Robert Winslow, the final revisions were made in 2001 and today the country of Denmark leads Europe as far as well-designed security sectors. Obviously, the Central African Republic has a very dysfunctional security sector however other countries around the globe such as Denmark have never been better.

"The flag of Colombia is set up in the colors that have meanings of the country. Yellow represents all the gold found in the Colombian land, blue represents the sea on Colombia's shores, the rivers that run through, and the sky above,
Over a period from 1960-1965, the first Republic of the Congo experienced a period of serious crisis. There was a terrible war for power that displayed senseless violence and the desperation to rule. There were many internal conflicts among the people. The country eventually gained independence from Belgium. For many countries this would be a time for celebration. Unfortunately for the people of the Congo this became a time to forget. Almost immediately after independence and the general elections, the country went into civil war. Major developed cities like Katanga and Kasai wanted to be independent from the Lumumba government. Different factions started to fight the government and Katanga and Kasai tried to secede from the rest
The development and growth of civilizations in African history were contradicted by several American and European historians in the sixteenth and early twentieth centuries. The reason for this lack of understanding is because the focus was mainly on Europe’s chaotic society at the time. In addition, Africa didn’t have physically written documents to present their actual history. Instead, it was orally passed down. This is why historians have falsely concluded that Africa was an uncivilized “Dark Continent.” But what does it mean to be civilized? A group of people is characterized as civilized when they are organized as a society, and able to advance it. Since West and East Africa were able to develop advanced forms of economy, education, and government, they are characterized as civilized
f. The music in South Africa reflects the country, and the history through the Mbube music. Either male vocalists, and or female vocalists sing such. When the lead singer is singing his or her part, they are said to be telling their stories. Mbube music is said to be traceable to furthest back the 1920’s. It was created in Africa when migrant workers begun holding singing competitions in a form of entertainment after long work days. This carried plenty of history about the country because of how old this form of music was. Dating back to the 1920’s, it was able to help preserve lots of memories, facts, and even stories about what has happened. This was mostly popular in the time that Africa was living in
The Democratic Republic of the Congo is one of the largest African countries located in central Africa. Congo is a country that has grown out of a history of Belgian colonisation. Congo also has a long history of an unstable government with a lot of problems with internal corruption. Being a land rich on natural resources with a poor government, Congo has been the perfect target for foreign exploitation of the lands resources. There is a high demand for cobalt from first world countries and the demand keeps rising every year. The current battery technology enables big technology companies to sell small handheld technological devices. Congo is one of the worlds leading supplier of cobalt. Almost half of the worlds cobalt was mined there. This cobalt can be found in any rechargeable battery such as the battery of a laptop or a smartphone. A cobalt rich battery has enabled us to have phones small enough to can fit in our pockets. These litihium-ion batteries can contain up to 10 grams of refined cobalt. Refined cobalt is the most expensive element in these batteries. Today, several Chinese companies are buying cheap cobalt from Congolese miners who working under dangerous conditions. The Congolese people are poor and desperate enough to do the hard and dangerous work. Families are forced involve their children in the mining work to be able to survive. The work pays less than minimum wage. The foreign mining business in Congo has caused Congolese people to sacrifice their
Currently in the African country of Eritrea, many Eritreans are fleeing to Europe. Men and women in various states and conditions endure the treacherous journey to Europe in hopes of a better life. One such twenty-six year old woman, Merhawit Tesfamariam, boarded a boat destined for Europe while being eight months pregnant. She delivered a set of twins prematurely on this boat while drifting through the Mediterranean Sea. Her specific reason for fleeing the country was to escape the mandatory military service that had already stolen three years of her life and made living unbearable (Wedeman). While escaping the military service may be the most common reason for fleeing Eritrea, other conditions also greatly impact this life changing and threatening decision. Although it may seem easier for Eritreans to escape and take up residence in closer countries, these countries provide no greater living conditions than Eritrea does. Therefore, unacceptable living conditions and unreasonable government actions cause Eritreans to currently flee specifically to Europe, and not countries near Eritrea, to find opportunities for better lives.
Military regimes that favor Islamic-situated governments have controlled national politics since Sudan gained freedom from Anglo-Egyptian co-rule in 1956. Sudan was entangled in two post-independence civil war amid the greater part of the rest of the twentieth century. These wars were based on the northern Muslims, Arabs economic, political, and social control of the more largely populated non-Muslim, non-Arab southern Sudanese. The first war ended with the 1972 Addis Ababa Agreement, which granted significant regional autonomy to southern Sudan on internal issues. (CIA 2015)
El Salvador is in Central America, between Guatemala and Honduras. It is the smallest country in continental America and is often called “Pulgarcito de America,” the Tom Thumb of the Americas. The Latin American culture interest me. Enriched with tradition, lyrical language, vibrant colors and beautiful beaches. What is the difference between El Salvadoran culture and American Culture? What are their values, norms and traditions? What are the contemporary issues for this group? The consequences of subordinate group status? Many people might be surprised to learn that El Salvador, the smallest country in Central and South America, is among the top ten countries of origin of foreign–born persons in the United States. Two decades of civil war
Belgium had joined the rest of Europe in its creation of colonies and decided they needed their own, and in their journey to find one, they found the Congo.
In a Western perspective, Africa is perceived as a poor, insecure, and violent continent. Although this statement is ignorant and disregards the multidimensional issues that are in each of the 54 countries, security and violence is a general issue in most African countries. African countries have not endured an easy history, and their history continues to create present conflicts. Their violent colonial past has left certain countries with ethnic rivalries and left their legacies with agents of security. Although the colonial past of African countries have been the leading cause of many of their current problems, they cannot be blamed for everything. Additionally, there is a positive correlated relationship between the state and the violence
countries to the United States, Europe, and Saudi Arabia. When people don’t get enough food, money,
The prominent conflict in the Central African Republic has caused many to lose irreplaceable innocence. A majority of children born in the Central African Republic are constantly in danger due to the conflict that has practically turned neighbor against neighbor. Likewise, a child soldier displays this idea when he states, “With the rebels, he had power, Charly said. ‘I had boots, a uniform and a gun in my hand.’” As one may derive, many children may feel the need to become a child soldier in order to maintain a somewhat steady source of food supply, shelter, and/or money. Therefore, this circular sequence of events has created a steady flow of children who constantly lose their innocence in the Central African Republic. All in all, many children
Sub-Saharan Africa, being a tropical region, ranks as one of the hottest regions on earth. This area receives more solar insulation than several other tropical regions. Thanks to technological advancements, hot temperatures do not cause a serious problem in the developed world. In these developed areas, heat only causes problems when power supply has been knocked out by storms or other hard-to-avoid occurrences. However, in sub-Saharan Africa, millions of people do not have access to electricity from grid connections. This means that these persons live in one of the earth’s hottest regions, yet have restricted access to the technologies that would have made life bearable.
The funding of The Dominican Republic of Congo is in order to secure the safety of the everyday citizen in the Dominican Republic of Congo. It will always be an ongoing war trying to help these kids get out of soldiery. Throughout the paper I have dignified the need of the continuing of funding for this country. By financially funding Democratic Republic of Congo we are saving thousands of lives and making close allies with this country. The $202 million dollars we’re spending every two years is worth the money. And by doing this we are possibly saving a child from child soldiery.
The world is evolving, moving toward a better lifestyle and a more comfortable way of living and conducting business, yet two thirds of the world’s population is striving to get the basic needs, living in extremely poor life conditions and suffering from several complicated issues and challenges that hinder the economic development in their countries. On the other hand, people in the other part of the world enjoy a high quality of living standards where the income per capita is high. The entire world is accordingly divided into two groups, rich and poor countries, where the richest nations with the highest income per capita are known as the “developed world” and these include the United States, Canada, most of the countries of Western Europe,
