Chapter Summary: The Most Dangerous Game

Rainsford had hid in a huge thick tree. Zaroff might have figured it out but we don’t know. In this new paragraph I will be talking about when Rainsford made his first trap for General Zaroff.

Rainsford heard a shot in the far distance and was curious about where it had come from, another shot came about and it had originated from Ship-Trap Island, Rainsford thoroughly paced himself to the edge of the yacht and wondered "Who could be on that Island?," a slight breeze had taken up Rainsford's cigar, and flew in the far distance to where Rainsford could no longer see where it had gone. Rainsford then fell off the deck and into the blood warming water and another shot had gone off, Rainsford paced himself to the shot and was now on Ship-Trap Island unconscious through the night. When he had woken up, he had found animal and human tracks and decided to follow them so Rainsford did. Rainsford met a tall man named General Zaroff who was very kind, respectful and well educated and also was a hunter. General Zaroff liked hunting humans and Rainsford had contemplated that was preposterous. General Zaroff and Rainsford had very different dissents about each others

A hole as deep as Rainsford filled with sharpened spikes, he then quickly wove a carpet of weeds and branches and sealed the mouth of the pit. He crouched behind a stump to see if his pursuer fell for it. A sharp scream of pain was heard, but it was not what Rainsford had expected. It was one of Zaroff’s best dogs that fell in the trap. Zaroff once again congratulated Rainsford saying “Thank you for a most amusing evening” (Connell), but warns Rainsford that he plans to bring his whole pack.

Rainsfords is panicked and running for his life, he's also scared of what General Zaroff will do to him when he catches him. Rainsfords force himself towards the gap between these two trees. He got closer to gap to see open water, and then he went to for it, he jumped. ‘“I am still a beast at bay, Rainsfords said, in a low hoarse voice, Rainsfords said this after he jumped off the cliff and swam back to the land. As he swam back he seen a big house, he walked closer to it and seen General Zaroff.

Rainsford made three successful traps during the hunt which took out his right hand man and preeminent dog. The third trap just hurt Zaroff’s shoulder. In the end, Rainsford jumped off of a cliff into the sea deep below and later swam to the castle. There, Rainsford and his ruthless predator had one last fight with Rainsford ultimately coming out victorious.

‘’Get comfortable Jack I’ll get you a drink,’’ Says Rainsford as he goes into the kitchen to get drinks. The first thing Jack notices about the mansion is the awful smell throughout the whole house. It smells like something died Jack thinks to himself. Jack goes into a room and he comes across a lot of heads and he could not believe what he was seeing. Rainsford must be a murderer Jack says I have to confront him. As they are eating Jack yells at Rainsford about all the heads and the awful smell. Rainsford says one thing ‘’Let’s go on a hunt shall

"The general was playing with him! The general was saving him for another day's sport! The Cossack was the cat; he was the mouse. Then it was that Rainsford knew the full meaning of terror." Rainsford comes to seek vengeance from the general making a toy of him by attempting to cause insanity due to the loss of nerve. "I will not lose my nerve. I will not." is the type of mental toughness Rainsford shows during Zaroff's tortures. "The general sucked in his breath and smiled. "I congratulate you," he said. "You have won the game."" The generals admit of defeat is not enough for Rainsford, thus Rainsford takes the situation to a brutal place and kills the General; "The general made one of his deepest bows. "I see," he said, "Splendid! One of us is to furnish a repast for the hounds.

When Rainsford was put in the jungle he made a trail tring to fool Zoraff thats the

So Rainsford and Zaroff starts and Rainsford jumped in front of him and pulls out his sword out looks at Zaroff and says “I am going to win this fight and get the excellent bed.” So once he says that to Zaroff he came at him with another sword. Zaroff swings first and he cuts his arm and Rainsford screamed out and said “OUCH!! YOU ARE GOING TO DIE!” So they continued to fight and then Rainsford called in back up and he called Mr. Whitney to the fight and he brought a lot of swords. Then they started to fight and Mr. Whitney help Rainsford. So he went to the other side to run up behind

Rainsford woke up to the booming sinfony of dozens of hungry hunting hounds and a satisfied look soon materialized on his face. With a prolonged yawn, he rose sleepily from the luxurious bed to find the body of General Zaroff staring blankly at the ceiling. He was the hunter, his hunter, that he had just murdered. Rainsford realised he had finally and truly won the most dangerous game. He remembered what the Cossack had said before their fight, “One of us is to furnish a repast for the hounds. The other will sleep in this very excellent bed.” Rainsford silently walked over to the window and gazed down towards the dogs below. As if know what Rainsford was thinking, the hounds barked viciously at him, salivating at their mouths. He ceremoniously picked up the still body of General Zaroff and threw him out the window with a crash! He put a fresh pair of clothes on while listening to the now satisfied canines eat their meal. determined he needed to get

It had been a week since Rainsford managed to kill the nefarious General Zaroff. The challenging part was almost over or so it seemed. There was not a clear way for Rainsford to escape. As days passed, Rainsford tried to escape. He tried making a boat from driftwood that he found, he tried swimming, he even tried sending a signal by using a flashlight. Rainsford had become so desperate that he even tried some ridiculous plans like trying to pole vault across the ocean. As a result, Rainsford ended up having huge gashes in his left leg ,which got infected, and he had to amputate it. As days turned into weeks, and weeks into months, Rainsford had lost hope and became bitter.

When General Zaroff came heard the loud thud, he rushed toward it. When he arrived, he saw Ivan lying there covered in blood. At this moment he cried and screamed out, “You will pay for this Rainsford!”

As he is being chased he stops and finds a stick with a pointy end, he sticks it in the ground with the pointy end facing out. The generals servant runs into the spear stabbing him and killing him. Now Rainsford has only the attack dogs and the general to worry about, he runs up a narrow trail up to a water fall losing most of the generals attack dogs. Rainsford finds himself in a dead end in front of the water fall, the general caught up to him and only has two dogs with him. He commands the dogs to attack rainsford but rainsford throws one of the dogs down the cliff into the water. The other dog lunges onto Rainsford, the general sees the opportunity and brings out his gun and aims it at the dog and Rainsford. He shoots the gun and Rainsford falls off the cliff with the dog into their death.

He also kept his head bald so it wouldn’t interfere, but now his head wasn’t bald because he didn’t have anything to shave with on the island.Yet out of all the things Rainsford thought about in the ocean his mind constantly drift back to how he was to get out of this situation. But nevertheless he began to swim in the direction of General Zaroff’s home. He swam and swam until he saw lights . He got out of the water and began to walk towards the lights not thinking but acting on instinct . Then there was a rustling in the bushes and there appeared a dog a big dog which looked very hungry. The dog began to growl and off instinct and not reason Rainsford ran and ran towards the house but the dog was getting closer so he kept running but the dog had got him . Before Rainsford knew it the dog was on top of him eating at his flesh and tearing it away. Rainsford lates there completely giving up. Then a voice boomed through the darkness it was the voice of General Zaroff’s. The dog stopped and took of in the opposite direction of the voice . Then there was no longer a voice but footsteps getting closer and

The next morning Rainsford woke up to the sound of his annoying alarm. He went to the kitchen made coffee, and sat on the couch to watch TV. He had been extremely exhausted from fighting the general. However, something didn’t seem right it was too quiet. He steps outside and see’s his neighbor, but with a quick glance it looked like the general. Once he blinked his eyes, he realized his neighbor was just being friendly and decided to wave hello. He seemed confused, thought it was maybe because he was tired. So he went back inside set his coffee on the table and went back to the room and took a
