“Do good unto others and good will unto you,” my momma once told me.I really took that into consideration because there are so many cruel and selfish eople in this generation. Sometimes you need to put yourself in the shoes of others because putting them first is a selfless and caring thing to do.
For example, the author of To Kill a Mocking Bird”, Harper Lee, always put others first. Even though she was wealthy, she never really used her money on herself; instead she always donated to charities and other organizations for a great cause. Also, in the book Atticus Finch, a lawyer who defended a innocent black man, always put others first. His character in the book portrays what it is to be a selfless person because he knew that if he defended
One central character in Atticus is Atticus Cody. Atticus is a sixty-seven year old white male with blue eyes. He always talked pleasantly with everybody and cares dearly for his family. He hopes for the best of Scott, one of the two sons he has and wishes that he stays happy. All Atticus wanted was for Scott to be happy and know he was loved by him.
If it doesn’t challenge you, it won’t change you (Fred Divito). Stanley had many challenges to face at Camp Green Lake. In the novel Holes, Stanley becomes from a shy, poor person to a rich and brave person.
Some have more courage than others do. In the book To Kill a Mocking Bird by Harper Lee, Atticus, a father of two and lawyer, stands up for a colored man in a court of law. At first, the readers just see him as a studious, quiet father, who has unique parenting strategies, but as the book progresses, Atticus's character grows. His courage, honesty, boldness, and scruples shape his life. In the trial with Tom Robinson, this shows especially. His determination to create the best case he can even though the odds are stacked against him, show the perseverance and strength of mind he has. Throughout To Kill a Mocking Bird Atticus's character grows as a genuine, brave, godly, man.
Would you stand up for what you believe is right? Atticus Finch did when he fought for Tom Robinson in “To Kill A Mockingbird”. Is it true that everyone on Earth is different and it needs to be that way? What would the world be like if we were all the same? In my opinion, it is better to stand up for what you believe is right; you could help someone out of trouble, the world is and needs to be different, and we would be so boring if we were all alike.
“Courage is when you know you're licked before you begin but you begin anyway and you see it through no matter what.” (Lee 149). These words come from Atticus Finch in To Kill a Mockingbird written by Harper Lee. He is offered the task to defend Tom Robinson, a black man, or leave him for another lawyer to defend his case in court. Although he knows it will put his family at risk of criticism and negativity towards the town, he boldly accepts the duty and burden of fighting for Tom Robinson. Accepting the case was not a blunder, it was a man making the correct decision by defending Tom Robinson.
To really understand someone's point of view, you have to walk in their shoes. People cast blame without knowing the whole truth. Sometimes the truth is that the person blamed is as innocent as a Mockingbird. In To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee, Atticus Finch was used to teaching us good behaviors such as being a committed and loving father, treating everyone fairly and equally, and standing behind his beliefs.
An example of taking a stand would be if a lot of people are treating a person wrong and someone decides not to and sticks up for that person. Atticus Finch is a character in the book To Kill a Mockingbird. Even though Atticus knows he does not have a shot of winning Tom Robinson’s case, he still does it anyway because it is the right thing to do, and he is trying to make a good example for his children. It makes sense for Atticus to take the case.
n the novel To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee, Atticus Finch seems to be the only adult that was not corrupted by the racism and inequality of his time. He is respected by the rich and poor because of his kindness, intelligence, and patience, although he loses some of this respect after trying to battle the racial inequality of his town. He tries to teach his children the good values he has,

Through the book we notice that Atticus has great pride in defending what is right and telling his children Jem and Scout what is wrong. Atticus is a very strong willed character. He always speaks his mind. He is not afraid of what other people think of him. People in the community are very trusting of Atticus because he sticks to what he believes in. All people are equal and deserve equal treatment no matter what race or religion.
We first start seeing power affecting Macbeth’s morals in the ending of Act I when the promise of power makes Macbeth think about killing the king. Macbeth has just finished having a nice dinner with the King and he is rethinking his plan of killing the king. We see him try to pull away from the idea of killing the king and wanting to stay an honest man. He is arguing with Lady Macbeth to not kill the king because “the king has just honored me”, “We can’t go on with this plan.” Macbeth wants to stay respectful and honest, he feels guilty to think about killing the king because the king thinks so highly of him. It is an honor to have respect from the king and Macbeth does not want to kill a good man like him. No matter what he says lady Macbeth still argues to kill the king and promises unlimited power. Macbeth finally makes the decision to kill him and begin to change from an honest and humble man to a liar and cheater. As Macbeth and lady Macbeth go forth with killing the king in Act 2 Scene 3 Macbeth freezes and Lady Macbeth tells him to dispose of the evidence but he can’t move. “I can’t go back. I’m afraid even to think about what I’ve done. I can’t stand to look at it again.” Macbeth regrets the decision and wants to go back to the honest and humble man he once was, but after killing the king he can’t turn back. He uses word choice like afraid, can’t stand to look at it again because he realizes how power has made irrational and power hungry. This new personality
Atticus shows many great traits throughout the book that makes him a great father and a great influence. One of these is humbleness. On many occasions, Atticus almost lowers his achievements and never brags. He sets a great example for his children, teaching them not to be proud and boastful, but to be humble and grateful. This is very apparent during the scene where Atticus shoots the mad dog. “‘If your father's anything, he’s civilized in his heart. Marksmanship’s a gift from God, a talent – oh, you have to practice to make it perfect, but shootin’s different from playing the piano or the like. I think maybe he put his gun down when he realized that God had given him an unfair advantage over most living things’” (Lee 130). He kept his best
In Harper Lee’s To Kill A Mockingbird, Atticus Finch is represented as the stereotypical, all well-knowing fatherly figure to Jem and Scout, and more than oftenly teaches them moral lessons and how to behave as they are transitioning into young adulthood. Three values that Atticus Finch heavily instills within his children is to live humbly, swear by equality, and have respect for everyone no matter what color your skin is or what you believe in. These values shape and mold each Jem and Scout into independently minded children who learn wrong from right as the book’s plotline continues.
I can make a difference in the world by being kind to everyone at any circumstance. For example in the article, “The Science of Good Deeds” the author states, “"One study showed that when men felt loved by their wives, they were less likely to experience chest pain that might signal a heart attack." This just goes to show that being kind can benefit any person in a positive way. Additionally, “Angel in Disguise” shows us that being kind to someone can not only benefit the recipient, but it can also benefit yourself. Mrs. Thompson was selfish and cruel before she met Maggie, while she was taking care of Maggie her heart changed and she became less selfish. Furthermore, in the song “Hall of Fame, I learned that you can accomplish anything as long as you try. This proves that anything is possible, but it isn’t always easy to do.
I am doing my movie review over “Inception” which we recently watched in Senior Comp. My three criteria’s are suspense, action, and good actors. I believe these three criteria’s are important in making a movie good because they keep the audience into the movie and the more people want to watch the movie, the more reviews it gets, it will grow on the Box Office.
In the novel To Kill A Mockingbird, Harper Lee presents Atticus Finch as a principled lawyer, committed but single father to Scout and Jem, and a law-abiding citizen. Atticus is a respectable gentleman in society and a role model for his children. Throughout the book we see evidence of his honorable intentions, though he doesn’t seem to reap the rewards. He is morally upstanding, even-keeled, and daring. Because of these things, Atticus is a man who deserves great respect and admiration.
