In to Kill A Mockingbird Harper Lee demonstrates a series of characterization traits through a character name Atticus. Atticus is the main focus in the novel as he goes through problems and how he deals with the problems. The setting takes place in Maycomb Alabama where there racism. In Harper Lee’s To Kill a Mockingbird, the character of Atticus Finch represents Lee’s idea of special justice by demonstrating generosity, compassion and mercy as he responds to conflict.
In to Kill a Mockingbird, Harper Lee presents that the idea of mercy is being demonstrated from having forgiveness for people that have done things wrong. “Atticus had urged them to accept the state’s generosity in allowing them to placed guilty to second-degree murder and escape with their lives.” Lee.5 In this sentence Atticus is on trail and he’s trying to persuade the court to let the men plead guilty for their …show more content…

Atticus is trying to explain to Scout why the Cunningham pay in crops. Atticus is explaining to Scout that everybody is not rich even they not rich themselves and you just have to be generous. Sometimes you have to accept the fact that life isn’t full of riches you just have to be grateful for what you get. In Harper Lee’s To Kill a Mockingbird wisdom is demonstrated by understanding why you can’t do certain things. “ I have to make a living. Besides, they’d put me in jail if I kept you at home dose of magnesia for you tonights and school tomorrow.” Lee.39 Atticus explaining to Scout that she can’t stay at home all of time just because of what someone said to her.
