In the play Romeo and Juliet written by William Shakespeare the character Romeo Montague remains immature throughout the play. Romeo is quite a young and privileged character and is portrayed to be very impulsive and fickle minded. He shows this through many occurrences during the play whilst interacting with other characters. Romeo also proves to be self-centred by not thinking about the rest of the town and the consequences of his actions. Romeo begins in the play with a childish and disloyal mannerism this is shown with his new found lover Juliet. As the play ends so does the lives of these two star-crossed lovers because of Romeo’s hasty decisions due to his passionate feelings for Juliet. At the beginning of the play, Romeo shows his immaturity when he first kisses Juliet. After only having known each other for no longer than an hour he has decided he wants to kiss her. Romeo is clichè and charming and so he has made a comment about his lips being pilgrims. Pilgrims used to also be called palmers, so Juliet makes a pun on the words. She says “Good pilgrim, you do wrong your hand too much, Which mannerly devotion shows in this; For saints have hands that pilgrims' hands do touch”. Juliet is suggesting that touching hands (‘palm to palm’) is like kissing, so technically Romeo should be content with holding her hands. Of course, because he is so romantic, Romeo argues back and insists on kissing her. He believes he is in love with her already and he must kiss her. This is
Emotion is a wild card in life. It almost always influences people to make bad decisions in their life, and causes harm to not only the host, but to many other people around them. In the play Romeo and Juliet, the characters Romeo, Juliet, and Tybalt are all very emotional characters which conclusively lead to all of their deaths, as well as to the deaths of many other people around them. Because of these characters newly drawn emotion, they made decisions that would have been previously considered ludicrous and idiotic. Throughout the exceptional play of Romeo and Juliet, it is ultimately proven that emotion is the enemy when it comes to decision making.
In “The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet” the younger generation, Romeo, Juliet, and Paris, and the older generation, Nurse, Capulets, and Friar, both had similarities and differences which had caused the end. They had a similar opinion on things going on and different opinions ones others. In the tragedy, the main characters died which was influenced by the older generations because they have similar and different opinions which all led the younger ones to death.
Romeo constantly shows his identity in the text because he is always commenting something lustful or dramatic. Again in the text, Romeo is commenting on Juliet’s beauty, “She stands out against the darkness like a jeweled earring hanging against the cheek of an African. / Her beauty is too good for this world; she’s too beautiful to die and be buried.” (Shakespeare I.5 52-54). From this quote, readers can understand that Romeo thinks that Juliet is too good-looking and she plays whatever game he tries to play to make her to love him. This is irresponsible and not to mention lustful of Romeo because he is older and should know what is best for him and as their families are feuding, it should be obvious to him that he should not marry Juliet, but he does, just so he can be with her. The reader can conclude that Romeo is very irresponsible when it comes to love.
Romeo’s series of rapid decisions begins when his love struck character is shown immediately upon meeting Juliet. After attending the Capulet party, Romeo notices Juliet and says, “It seems she hangs upon the cheek of night / As a rich jewel in an Ethiop’s ear - / Beauty too rich for use, for earth too dear” (Shakespeare 1.5.43-46). Romeo’s reaction demonstrates how he is transfixed on Juliet when he first sets eyes on her. He believes that he never fell in love until this very moment, not knowing his feelings are lustful. This causes him to want to marry her, not taking into account the many consequences that might occur. Furthermore, this act that Romeo does, illustrates how Romeo is a sensitive, easily infatuated character that loves hard. Thinking that Juliet is the one for him, Romeo makes a reckless decision to marry Juliet. He then goes to the Friar

Juliet is not unlike the typical young women constantly struggling to find happiness and acceptance from those who are closest to her. Young Juliet must confront the harsh reality that exists between her and those who profess to be her friends and family, which is they failed to support her, love her, and lift her up with she needed it most. ‘The characters in Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet undergo significant changes throughout the course of the play.’
Fate is defined as, ‘the development of events outside a person’s control, regarded as predetermined by a supernatural power’. In the time in which ‘Romeo and Juliet’ was written, many people were strong believers of fate and it was a common belief in society. William Shakespeare was a famous poet who is recognised for his powerful writing and contribution to the English language. One of William Shakespeare’s highly recognised plays is ‘Romeo and Juliet’ written in the late 1500’s. It is a play about two star-crossed lovers alongside fate who by their death end the feud between the Montagues and the Capulets. “A man's greatest pleasure is to defeat his enemies, to drive them before him, to take from them that which they possessed, to see those whom they cherished in tears, to ride their horses, and to hold their wives and daughters in his arms.”, said Genghis Khan, ruler of the Mongol Empire. Shakespeare expands on this idea in his famous novel Romeo and Juliet. Romeo and Juliet tells a tale of two “star crossed lovers” born of rival families whose feud is continued by men battling in the streets, the two lovers try to get married and start a life together which is halted by the violence of men when Mercutio, Romeo’s friend was slain by Tybalt and Tybalt was slain by Romeo. Romeo’s brutality caused for him to be banished from Verona, a plan was
Romeo and Juliet, written by William Shakespear, brings many themes to life; love and fate and comedy and tragedy being among the most common and reoccurring. This essay will be focusing on the real tragedy of one of the most famous plays ever written. Romeo and Juliet are not the only ones to lose something very dear to them; everyone suffered, both emotionally and physically. The couple's union was intended to bring the feuding families together instead, their love for each other only brought their own death and the deaths of others. But it is not just physical loss that is explored in the play. Both Romeo and Juliet lose their innocence. Juliet had never experienced maternal love, something that can never be replaced.
I am heartbroken over the deaths of my master and friend, Romeo, Juliet, who brought Romeo great happiness, and county Paris, who I knew to be a very honorable man. I hope that this court session will bring justice for Romeo, Juliet, and Paris. To help bring this justice, I will truthfully tell you all that I know.
When analysing Romeo and Juliet it becomes apparent that while the two main characters’ lives were said to be predetermined by fate, it is Romeo's deep love for Juliet that acts as the catalyst that sets his fate into motion. Romeo was bound to love juliet but it was Romeo’s deep love for juliet that gets Romeo in to trouble. Additionally, Romeo gets to caught up in the one and only love of his life and when all the sudden it was gone he decided to kill himself. Although Romeo stated, “with love's light wings did I o’erperch these walls”( 2.2.73-75). This would prove that know matter what happens romeo will always go after Juliet/love Juliet. Ultimately, it is Romeo who is to romantic therefor creating the fate for himself and Juliet.

Juliet is the daughter of Lord and Lady Capulet. When the play begins, we learn from the nurse that Juliet is soon turning fourteen (“Even or odd, of all the days in the year come Lammas-Eve at night shall she be fourteen”). In Juliet's first meeting with her mother and the nurse, she seems to be an obedient and responsible child. She comes immediately when they call her and answers always respectfully to her mother: "Madam, I am here, / What is your will?" (“Act 1, Scene 3). She is also clever as when her mother asks her what she thinks about marriage, she gives an ambiguous answer by saying what her mother wanted to hear really: “it is an honour I dream not of” (“Act 1, Scene 3). We learn that she is
