In American society today we fail to address several issues that need to be addressed. Unfortunately, child abuse is one of the major issues that our country is plagued with, yet we neglect to bring this to the attention of the entire nation. It is often over looked because everyone has a different view of what exactly defines child abuse. The International Child Abuse Network (ICAN) uses four basis catigories to docunment the child abuse cases. They are: emotional abuse, neglect, physical abuse, and sexual abuse. I will be describing the first three.

Imagine peacefully resting in a crib, decorated whimsically with pastels and covered lusciously in white linens. As sleep is rapidly approaching, and your eyelids are just beginning to close, a startling series of loud crashes and startling bangs rattle throughout the house. An angry and drunken father staggers wildly in the hallway outside your room, blaming all of his adversities on his hellish amalgamation of a family. His wife is standing behind him, begging and pleading for him to restrain himself, while she begins spiraling into hysterics. The door slams open, and a pair of monstrous hands rip you violently from your crib. You begin to join your mother in the aforementioned hysterics, unaware of the chaos currently consuming your family.
Nice post! You made some really valid points in regards to those interested in child protect need to be exposed to child abuse scenarios so that you can be accustom to it. As a dispatcher I have experienced my share of suicide calls to the point nothing of a graphic nature bothers, I am still nervous because I know officers and citizens are depending on me to help a saved life. My gut reaction watching this video was how can you ignored your child as though they do not exist. I am amazed by Angela though her life is crumbling and scars invade her life she finds the strength to go on even if she had too alone. She attended school and took care of herself to the best of her ability. There are a few children who would have been searching for a
In closing, it is amazing how traumatic experiences impact the brain and behavior of an individual. In my client’s situation, abuse and trauma were primary issues in her early development. I felt her traumatic experience and bullying caused her to have low self-esteem. She expressed that it was hard for her to form positive relationships with the opposite sex. Change does not happen overnight and it based upon the willingness and motivation of the client. I find that instead of placing judgment on teens, adults should educate their self about this population and find ways to understand their experiences and work together to develop solutions. Clients look to clinicians for emotional dependency and nurturance that was missing in their life.

Childhood sexual abuse is a difficult topic to comprehend let alone have open discussion about the issue. I know for me, I cannot fathom someone wanting to hurt a child in this way, but then I wonder what makes a person have the desire to afflict such a traumatic experience on a child. The reading this week did not answer the questions I have, but it did give me a better understanding on how people cope with these experiences.
Discuss the relationships of the various components, strategies, the impact and interactions they may all have.
Patients who have struggled through neglect and abuse can have angry or aggressive tones of sweetness. The patients desire more attention since they have never received it.
Childhood sexual abuse (CSA) is a growing social concern. Statistics reveal approximately a quarter of young adults experience sexual abuse during childhood with a further 1,761 aged 18-24 years (Lantern Project, 2012). Moreover, CSA can be seen as "forcing or enticing a child to take part in sexual activity" (Sanderson, 2006). Sexualized behavior can range from contact and/or non-contact sexual experiences, such as exposure

These are activities that are targeted at members of the community and general population with the aim to raise awareness about the problems of child abuse. It involves an approach that targets helping families and children before child abuse occurs and not intervening after the harm has been done. This is very essential as every child deserves to grow up and be nurtured in an environment that is safe and stable which helps in the child’s total development such as the physical, emotional, cognitive, and behavioral components. These strategies can be via a myriad of programs such as educational programs via public awareness programs, public service announcements, parent education groups, child educational programs, family support and strengthening programs.
