In this photo, the children are gathered around the table so they can begin working on a painting project as a group. Some of the children are wearing aprons, so their dress up clothes will not get dirty. Each child has been provided with a letter and they were informed to paint it in whichever way they choose. They were supplied with 1 paint brush, and the paints and water buckets have been strategically placed on each side of the table for easy access. They have a very determined look on their faces and are very focused on the task. They are enjoying the activity, however, the materials that are offered are not open ended, which will not allow them much freedom to express their own creativity.
I will be observing a seven-year-old child for my project. What I have learned from being a parent and watching my kids as they grow up the social emotional, physical and intellectual changes that occur in children between birth and the end of adolescence are that they all progress at individual intervals from dependency to increasing individualism. Because these developmental changes may be strongly influenced by genetic factors and events during prenatal life, genetics and prenatal development are usually included as part of the built in parenting skills we all possess. When children are born they have no sense of fear but quickly develop a fear of what
On Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at 1500 hours I was dispatched to 119 S. Main St. for an assault in progress. Schuylkill County Communications (COUNTY) advised me it is being reported that a male is assaulting two females out in the street. COUNTY advised me that screaming and yelling can be heard in the background on the telephone.
I conducted my observation of young children assignment at the Learning and Play Preschool and Daycare. Learn and Play is located in Michigan. Their slogan is “Where We Cherish Your Children.” Their program offers child care with a preschool experience that helps build each child’s self-esteem and prepares them for school. Lean and Play strives to aid in a child’s overall development through nurturing, positive guidance, developmentally appropriate practice and play. They believe that a child’s desire to learn is heightened when incorporated through play and the use of creative arts. They have learning centers in each classroom that are set up to focus on all of the areas of a child’s development. They
All children are different in their unique way. The goal of this assignment was to observe different children in an uninterrupted environment. Although all the children observed were the same age, they all acted differently during their observation. The differences in the way we react to different situations are what make us human. These differences can be explained through the theories that different psychologist have developed over the years. Some children react better to things like praise from a teacher or being able to be creative in the activities that they are participating in.
When I worked as a Paralegal, after retiring, the court appointed us to a woman that had an infant and was pregnant with another. The neighbors had called the Sheriff's Department because an infant was screaming from this woman's house and when they looked through the front door, when no one answered them knocking, they saw three adults sprawled out over furniture and the floor not moving. The SD entered the residence and all three were passed out from, what they believed was, drugs and alcohol. They had EMS check out the adults, while the SD searched for the infant that had gone quiet. They found the child on the floor next to the bed, she had a bump on her head, and they assumed she rolled off the bed. EMS checked the infant and she
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted on 1/6/2016. I arrived at the operation which is located at 3422 Richmond Rd, Texarkana about 12:57 pm. I was greeted by Comekia Island, the person in charge while director was at lunch. I handed her business card and then explained the purpose of my inspection and reviewed the subchapters I would be observing. Roshonda Epps the director arrived approximately a hour later. When Epps arrived I handed her business card and then explained the purpose of my inspection and reviewed the subchapters I would be observing.
Subject “Chris” is a 7 year old middle class Caucasian male. Observation is taking place in the child’s home over the course of two separate afternoons. Chris is a friendly and well spoken child who is small for his age. Chris is the youngest child in his family and both observations take place while his siblings are home. In each case one or both parents are absent.
S.P. is 4 year old toddler who lives at home with her parents. She is first and only child. For the Ages and Stages Questionnaire, she was observed in her house and her learning center with her parent present in two different days. She lives in a one three apartment with her biological father and mother. Both of them are registered nurses working in same hospital. S.P. is their first and only child. She was born on 12/22/2013(50 months and 7 days) at full term with no birth related problems. Both of her parent work full time, but her mother stays with her more frequently. She has had no significant child illnesses or complications except one episode of pneumonia developed during the birth. She attends the early learning center in the neighborhood
Overall, my movement stations were successful and helped me identify the motor skills of the children I worked with. My first movement station dealt with simple movement tasks such as hopping, balancing, marching, and leaping. My goal was to assess the children to identify their basic ability level. By doing this, I was able to accommodate their needs in my other movement stations. This movement station made me realize that I should have completed it with fewer children because it was slightly chaotic. The children lost focus and were all trying to get my attention. Therefore, I completed my second movement station by working with groups of four to six children. I also incorporated a carnival theme into my second movement stations so the children
The second interaction I observed was a child went over and grabbed the ring stacker toy. She started to shake the pieces which contained beads that made noise. The teacher walked over and allowed the child to really explore all the pieces of the toy before she intervened. She was laughing along with the child when she got excited that the beads were moving. I would give this interaction a seven on the QQCIIT scale for supporting object exploration. This is because the teacher allowed the child to explore multiple toys and pick one to really explore. She helped her maintain interest in the toy and she helped her explore the object by also shaking a bigger, different colored ring. Once the child noticed the middle piece that the other rings
The topic I decided to observe is lack of focus in younger children. My observation was done at the Violet Elementary baseball field on May 4th. The practice was for a travel baseball team of boys at around the ages of 8 and 9.
I went to the Gracepoint Church’s Fall Fest on Halloween eve. Many interactive booths were prepared for the children, such as ring toss, dance floor, fishing for rubber dolphins, bean bag toss, beading station, and face painting. I hid behind my roommate who was working at the face painting booth that night. The location was perfect because of the high chairs at the booth gave me an easy view of the families in line and the children at the face painting station. I focused this observation on one pair of siblings, whom I will refer to as Jane (5 years old) and John (6 years old). Most children were impatiently waiting in line with their parents, including Jane and John. The two children discussed profusely what painting they wanted on their
The key to understanding children is observation. As observers, we begin to look for daily patterns in their behavior. Once patterns of behavior are recognized, the observer can then give positive guidance in securing the child’s developmental needs.
At the snack table “L” was sitting and eating cereal. And “A” was playing with the stuffed animal. “L” got up from the chair and grabbed the toy from “A” and threw the toy across the classroom. “A” started to cry. The teacher saw what happened and went over to them. And she said to ”L” is throwing a good thing. And she made “L” go pick the toy up and bring it to “A”.
During the primary recess we observed the children behavior, how boys and girls act having a different behavior. The first group we observed were around six and nine years old while the second group were approximately nine years old. This “experiment” objective was to observe people in their environment.
