When I worked as a Paralegal, after retiring, the court appointed us to a woman that had an infant and was pregnant with another. The neighbors had called the Sheriff's Department because an infant was screaming from this woman's house and when they looked through the front door, when no one answered them knocking, they saw three adults sprawled out over furniture and the floor not moving. The SD entered the residence and all three were passed out from, what they believed was, drugs and alcohol. They had EMS check out the adults, while the SD searched for the infant that had gone quiet. They found the child on the floor next to the bed, she had a bump on her head, and they assumed she rolled off the bed. EMS checked the infant and she …show more content…
Now it was not only her infant but also her fetus. SD report showed that when she came too, she asked where she was, how did she get here, what happened, were her friends ok, and when can she get out of here. Only when the SD brought up her child, did she say, “Oh yah, where is my baby?” Unfortunately, we had her Probation Officer came in and say how she had been doing great in her meetings, random drug testing, and community corrections. Therefore, the court released her to her PO and gave her back her infant. So we were done, did our job and I thought it sucked, the attorney however was elated she won another case. When I quit this woman was back in trouble, she back to partying and had set her infant on the dresser to change her and was called back to the party, because it was her turn, and the child had rolled of the dresser and on to a concrete floor where there was no rug. The next morning the SD responded to a call because there was a woman laying in the door propping it open. In the house were three females and two males in various stages of dress, and the woman in the doorway was naked, she was also the one pregnant. SD found the infant and called the corner. The people unconscious were transported to the hospital and when examined the fetus was also
I will be observing a seven-year-old child for my project. What I have learned from being a parent and watching my kids as they grow up the social emotional, physical and intellectual changes that occur in children between birth and the end of adolescence are that they all progress at individual intervals from dependency to increasing individualism. Because these developmental changes may be strongly influenced by genetic factors and events during prenatal life, genetics and prenatal development are usually included as part of the built in parenting skills we all possess. When children are born they have no sense of fear but quickly develop a fear of what
Through out the observation both children were moving from place to place. The little girl would grab one toy then go find another one. She would play one type of activity then go back to building blocks. She would stack blocks and connect the rail road tracks for the train. For approximately 3 minutes or more the girl would stay fully engaged trying connecting the railroad tracks. She would forget that she was in a room full of other toys, for a moment I possibly thought she could be autistic because she was able to stay focused on one activity for a long period of time and not engage other children. Her fine motor skills were adequate for her age she was able to hold objects in her hand. While she was fascinated in putting together the railroad
I arrived on scene at approximately 02:11 hours. I approached the front door and the victim, Hollie J. McIntosh (F/W, DOB: 07/26/1988) opened the door and let me inside. I inquired with McIntosh what happened. McIntosh stated she was shoved and choked by her boyfriend, James Dean Carvell (M/W, DOB: 01/25/1988). I observed a red mark on McIntosh’s neck. McIntosh advised Carvell was in the bedroom. McIntosh pointed to the bedroom. I entered the bedroom. Carvell was lying
As I was completing my initial investigation I was returning items (driver’s licenses, registration, and insurance information) to the drivers. I approached Mitchell who was sitting in her vehicle. She appeared slumped over. I knocked on the window several times. There was no reply. I opened Mitchell’s vehicle door. She appeared unconscious. I shook her by the shoulder. She did not respond. I called for Goodwill Ambulance, who had just left with Feeney to return because I had an unresponsive person. I pulled Mitchell out of her vehicle and laid her on the street. I put a blanket that she had in her vehicle under her head. I shook her again, no response. I performed a sternum rub on Mitchell. She moved her head and asked “What’s going on?” I told her she passed out that she was in and accident. I told her to keep her eyes open and waited for Goodwill Ambulance to arrive back on scene. After the Paramedic treated Mitchell he informed me that he was unsure of her injury or what could have cause her
Upon arrival, I had initially provided support in standing by while the Narcotics team went through the house getting everyone out. I then was asked to assist in search the two female subjects that were detained. While searching the females I went back to my vehicle to grab another set of gloves. While I was doing this, I had seen Officer Fredrick #1111 had one of the subjects identified as Keith Gray W/M (DOB: 07/09/1958) on the ground. Officer Fredrick had advised me the subject just fell face forward. With my EMT medical knowledge I looked at the subject and noticed that he was having what appeared to be
I entered the residence and was directed to a bedroom on the north side of the residence. I entered the bedroom and observed a white female standing next to the bed. She had a large, blue in color, lump under her left eye. She was unable to open her left eye very much. I later identified her as Anna Williams by Arkansas drivers license. I asked Anna what had happened and she said she was trying to leave the residence and they hit her. I asked Anna who "they" was and she said Gilbert and Judy. Anna said they hit her with their fists. At about this time, Mulvane EMS arrived on scene and started to render aide to Anna as I collected her personal information.
All children are different in their unique way. The goal of this assignment was to observe different children in an uninterrupted environment. Although all the children observed were the same age, they all acted differently during their observation. The differences in the way we react to different situations are what make us human. These differences can be explained through the theories that different psychologist have developed over the years. Some children react better to things like praise from a teacher or being able to be creative in the activities that they are participating in.
The Defendants Eugene Wong and Mary Wong had been hired to care for 3 month old infant, Kwok Wei by the infant’s parents, The Jiangs, due to heavy 12 hour-per-day workdays. Because of their workload, the infant’s parents felt 24-hour care was needed for their child, and therefore responded to a newspaper ad for care (advertised by the Defendants). Upon entering a legal, binding contract for care, The Jiangs were told that Defendant Mary Wong would be providing much of their baby’s care and that her husband, Eugene Wong, would also be tending to Kwok Wei’s needs as well. The agreement was that the infant would sleep in a crib located directly next to the Defendant’s bed. The Defendants were to provide care in their one-bedroom apartment, located in Manhattan, New York (New York Times, 1993). On the evening of July 3, 1988 The Jiangs visited their child for the first time (NY Times). Four days later (July, 7, 1988) about 6:30 am, Defendant Mary Wong placed a call to the infant’s father to inform him that his baby could not be awaken and that the baby was dead. At that time explained she that the baby had been crying the previous night continuously from about 12 midnight until 2:00 am, the baby had been given gripe water (a Chinese remedy), and eventually everyone went to sleep. Defendant Mary Wong also stated that when she and her husband awoke the next morning they found the baby unconscious and stated he had “turned black”. According to the police department’s
The behavioral and chemical dependency hospital I worked for was 70-bed hospital employed mental health technicians, nurses, social workers and doctors. One day I received a call from one of our mental health technicians who informed me that her colleague is “having an affair” with one of our patients. According to the claim, the night shift mental health technician witnessed what seemed to be a shadow of the technician performing inappropriate sexual acts with the patient. Two of our technicians supposedly witnessed the incident during their night shift. One witness stated that our technician made a comment about being in love with the teenager. After learning of the incident, I tried to reach out to the accused to understand her side; however, I was unable to reach her because she has been calling in sick. I later learned that the patient involved was only 16 years old and our mental health technician was in her early thirties. The sixteen year old patient was released from out hospital shortly after I learned about the incident and some claimed that our mental health technician picked her up and took her in. I reached out to the technician once again to start my investigation and I was successful in setting up a meeting with her. She arrived thirty minutes before and seemed very upset when she came into the office and said “I quit” slamming her hand on my desk and
Subject “Chris” is a 7 year old middle class Caucasian male. Observation is taking place in the child’s home over the course of two separate afternoons. Chris is a friendly and well spoken child who is small for his age. Chris is the youngest child in his family and both observations take place while his siblings are home. In each case one or both parents are absent.
Reporter stated the following: I work for Dish Network. I left the house an hour ago. The little boy was sitting in a dark room. I asked him was he in trouble and he said, “yes”. The stepdad told him not to say anything or he would hit him with a stick. The mom was just sitting there. The stepdad put the stick in this face but I did not see him hit him. I walked in the other room and to my left was a baby wrapped in multiple blankets. His hand was sticking out. I stared at the mom and she did not say anything. The mom took the baby out the blanket and it was alive. The mom put him in the other room and she wrapped the baby up again. When she told him to go to sleep. When I got ready to leave she wrapped the baby up again. He was crying and
The student I chose for this case study is a young boy, who I will call Jessie. He was observed in a classroom at an Early Childhood Learning Center. Jessie is a 3.6-year-old boy. He is the only child on his maternal side. Jessie has black curly hair, brown eyes and he seems to be the average height for his age range. He loves going to the park, having books read to him and watching his favorite television program Bubble Guppies. Mary states her son is a loving boy that loves hugs and good praise when he does something good. According to Mary, he has an older sister and brother on the father’s side. Furthermore, she recalled Jessie’s dad telling her his daughter is developmentally
I went to the Gracepoint Church’s Fall Fest on Halloween eve. Many interactive booths were prepared for the children, such as ring toss, dance floor, fishing for rubber dolphins, bean bag toss, beading station, and face painting. I hid behind my roommate who was working at the face painting booth that night. The location was perfect because of the high chairs at the booth gave me an easy view of the families in line and the children at the face painting station. I focused this observation on one pair of siblings, whom I will refer to as Jane (5 years old) and John (6 years old). Most children were impatiently waiting in line with their parents, including Jane and John. The two children discussed profusely what painting they wanted on their
For this child observation, I decided to observe my younger brother Jacob. Jacob is 5 years old, but he insisted that I write that he is almost 6. He is also in kindergarten this year and loving every second of being a loud, rowdy boy. I suppose I am at an advantage in this observation since I have seen the numerous developments in Jacob’s life thus far.
Ms.Morris wouldn’t talk to police again, she said her first interviews and accusations were humiliating enough. I wanted to help her, I really tried, especially for the baby, but there was nothing for me to investigate without getting a new statement from her. You can see the original report on there, it was practically blank, the deputy that filled it out was gone by the time I was hired.” Keith shook his head, “When I called him, he told me she was just a drunk and embarrassed kid.”
