Cinco De Mayo Ever since fourth grade, one of my best friends have been Taylor Elam. Over the years that we’ve been friends we’ve had some jokes. My mom loves Mexican food; Taylor used to not like mexican food very much. Whenever our families would go out to eat, my mom would suggest something mexican. Whenever mexican was suggested by my mom, Taylor would respond “of course Hope wants mexican,” and whenever someone would ask where we were going to eat Taylor would say, “Hope wants mexican!” which we would always laugh about.
A couple years ago, on Cinco De Mayo, we had a soccer game. We went to the game and afterwards Taylor’s family and my family wanted to go out to eat. Because it was Cinco De Mayo, we decided to go to La Mesa, a

We didn’t care because it was so good. Everyone started figuring out what they were going to order. I had no idea what to get because generally I don’t eat tacos at restaurants. I decided that I was going to get the kids nachos. “I am going to get nachos” I said to my mom. “Alright, sounds good!” responded my mom. “I am going to get the kids meal though because I am not that hungry. I won’t eat it if we take it go.” “Do whatever you want.”

The waitress came back to our table. She came down to the kids table and started asking what we wanted to order. It was my turn, I was a little worried about my order going in correct since she could hardly understand us. “What would you like to order?” asked the waitress. “I would like the kids nachos. What all comes on them?” I responded. “Just chips, meat, and queso.” “Can I add on lettuce please?” “Yes.” The waitress finished getting everyone’s orders and went back to put them in. It was taking a while for our food to come so, us kids started coloring, messing around, and eating more of the chips with dip. My dad and Taylor’s mom took a few pictures of Taylor, Megan, and I. We were making silly faces; we kept laughing. To this day I still have one of the pictures in my room as a memory. After waiting, we saw some people bringing us our food. I didn’t see my kids size nachos anywhere, I got really confused. The waitress
After Wendy's I went home and on the way home I fell asleep. The next day my friends came back to my house and had a cookout after the cookout Daniel,Miguel & me went to the Rec and then we went
I am going to tell you about a famous, yet kinda eerie celebration that takes place in mexico. This is a tradition celebrated by the Mexican Natives, most Mexican Americans (including myself) don’t even acknowledge this day, unless they happen to be visiting mexico at the time of this event.
Cinco de Mayo means the fifth of May. It is not an independence day for Mexico like most unknowledgeable people think. Mexican Independence Day is celebrated on the 15th of September. Mexico declared independence from Spain on the 24th of August 1821. Cinco de Mayo is not an American holiday either. Mexico and the United States savor this holiday because it is the day where Mexican peasants/ commoners defeated the French and Mexican traitor army that double them in size in Puebla, Mexico one hundred miles away from Mexico city on the 5th of May, 1862.
Mexican, Filipino, and Thai these are just a few of the diverse cultures in this group. Cinco De Mayo is celebrated on the 5th of May. Cinco De Mayo is celebrated to remember the victory for Mexico over France in 1962 and was at the battle of Puebla (Staff, 2009). However, in Mexico, Cinco De Mayo isn't considered a major holiday (Staff, 2009). Cinco De Mayo is a celebration of Mexican heritage and culture (Staff, 2009). We will talk about the history of Cinco De Mayo, and explain the difference between the two holidays.
Today, Cinco de Mayo has become more of an American holiday than a Mexican one. It has become a significant annual celebration of Mexican culture and heritage. In areas of the country with large Mexican-American populations such as Portland large festivals are held. Portland Oregon’s three-day Cinco de Mayo fiesta has been celebrated for the past 30 years, attracting thousands of visitors. The crowds
Since Cinco de Mayo is coming up it is a great topic to talk about on your podcast or even a feature on your “Eats beat”.
Half of me from the United States and the other half from Mexico. Around 2008 my mom and I went to Monclova, Coahuila to visit my dad's part of the family. We stayed at my aunt Julisa’s, she only spoke Spanish. I didn’t speak or comprehend Spanish very well, but my mom could, she translated for the both of us. During my time there I played with my cousin Carol in her backyard, which was a concrete block wall patio. We would run around the house and get chased by her Chihuahua, Chico, it was really fun! I found one of my favorite foods in Monclova, duros de harina. Duros de harina are like chips, but they're not as crunchy,

Avery and Garrett spent their time trying to perfect the baked potatoes and macaroni and cheese they picked out. Every person there had so much excitement for the meal that we’d worked throughout the day to bring together. Finally it was done. The burgers were done. The sides were done. The cookies were done (and frosted very well, I must add.) The guests were arriving every few seconds and the red, white, and blue balloons were everywhere you looked. Dinner was laid out in a hurry and eaten in the same hurry. Seconds were had, and the night was one that I will remember for the rest of my

The bride and groom and the guests made their way to the middle of the store to watch the bride and groom have their “first dance.” They asked me what I wanted so I got to place my order. I ordered a smothered burrito, a five layer burrito, Cinnamon twists, Cinnamon delights, And two large Baja blasts. The bride asked me if I wanted to be her best friend
I got chicken tenders, Chip got the same. Yeah, he's kind of a kid. After all his business friends ordered, my dad then ordered himself a lobster, and a steak for mom. This place was fancy, their chicken tenders turned out to be stripped instead of fried, and it tasted amazing. I asked the waiter if he could bring me some honey mustard, but he said he didn't have any. Then he said they could make it from scratch for me! I was amazed and it made my day that they would do anything for my order. After the food, we talked some more, and we started to head off. I will never forget that day because it was that dinner and that dinner only, that helped me loosen up on life and go with the
After we were assigned a table, we searched through the menu for the perfect meal. The interior of the place was homey and warm. The atmosphere excited and joyful. As we waited for our meals we talked about everything that had been going on. I told them about the weird
