Civil Rights Movement The Civil Rights Movement was a movement caused by the racist and segregated states’ laws against the freedom of the african american population. This movement was headed by a few major figures, notably Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X. Their standing was that the free speech of the african americans and the freedom to protest was being marginalized by the states. The states did all they could to keep the africans segregated from the pure, white students. and went as far as to have segregated drinking fountains and bathrooms along with everything else. The protests and mass jailings demoralized many of the protesters and even got the major peace leader, Martin Luther King Jr., to think that the movement might fall.
