All civil services examination aspirants are well attuned to the significance of making notes. But a handful of them really know the art of preparing effective, concise and readable in a short time notes. You need to go through these small notes a few days or even few hours before and/or the Mains exam. So it would not be exaggeration to say that the notes you prepare can decide your future in the exam. The first step is to maintain book, a dedicated register or even take down notes on flip cards or pages if you are comfortable with this method. Next, divide the pages by topics or months. In a specific month you could write events topic wise on each page or you could divide the register topic wise, like some pages devoted exclusively for sports,
Do you know that the number of illegal immigrants in the United States was estimated at 11.5 million in 2011 and now
Day in and day out many immigrants enter the United States of America in search of greener pastures. This greener pasture includes higher educational prospects and lucrative jobs. However, life usually does not turn out as many of them usually anticipate. The expectation they usually have prior to their entry to the United States is partly due to the all rosary and nice things they hear about America. They hear such nice things from the media and also from diaspora’s who return from America to their homeland who usually don’t share their entire experiences with them. There have been quite a number of reports and research findings that outline the various challenges that are faced by immigrants in America. I personally share some of these issues as an international student in a foreign country. Prior to coming to Metropolitan State University, I had colleagues who told me about the school and their excellent environments that facilitate learning. Also other friends who were in America made me aware of the opportunity to work alongside schooling which made me more interested as I needed financial aid. With all these palatable information in mind, I did apply for the school and even though the tuition fee was quite expensive considering my socio economic background, I did apply having the mindset of working to meet up certain financial needs. Upon arrival in America, I realized that I was given a fraction of the entire picture. I wasn't allowed to work outside of campus,
Between the years 1861 and 1941 almost 30 million people immigrated from Europe to the United States. Many left for a new life, some left because the crops were dying and they were starving, some came for a job, and lastly people left because of religious persecution. In the 1800s, two of the main contributions of the immigrants in the U. S. were the larger population and different cultures.
In the United States of America there are an estimated 11 million illegal immigrants currently residing in the U.S. Many industries depend heavily on immigrant labor , legal and illegal, to achieve productivity. The construction industry, nationally , employ at a fast rate about 1,000,000 illegal immigrants; almost one in five illegal immigrants work major industries. (Passel,2006). Immigrant reform will undoubtedly reduce the supply of illegal immigrant by encouraging enforcement of current laws by creating new legislation with harsher penalties for illegal immigration. The enforcement of the new laws will allow for industries to allow employers to recruit and hire foreign born workers only with signs of identification. However for the industries
The increasing fear of crime and terrorism in the world is persuading many Americans that the country should close its door. But what about the fact that this country itself was founded by the immigrants? American journey of success would have not been possible without the generations of immigrants who have come to its shores from every corner of the world. I believe immigrants are a positive influence on America because they strengthen the country’s economy, allow people of America to learn about different cultures, languages and ideas, and shapes how the world views America.
Are immigrants a burden to the United States? Or do they benefit society? Many people might say that immigrants don’t help the country and that they should be deported back to their respective countries. Keeping the status of undocumented immigrants as aliens costs the government a lot of money and the broken solution of deporting immigrants costs even more. Immigrants stimulate the growth of the economy and immigrants give the country so much and no one gives them credit for it. There is an ever growing number of people that support immigration reform. Immigrants should be allowed to live in the United States because it benefits the country, the economy, and the general population.
In “Immigrants” by Pat Mora, they are struggling to achieve acceptance and help their family have a better future. The parents are trying so hard to associate their children with “American traditions” and still are left wondering if they will be accepted in America. In my opinion nothing is worth loosing your actual culture or values. They are literally willing to do whatever it takes to transform heir children into American traditions. “Feed them mashed hot dogs and apple pie” (Line 2 Mora). Both Hot dogs and Apple pie are both American food and American culture. Wait there is more they are even considering changing the names of their children. Buying them blonde dolls and football cleats both have typical American
Thousands of migrants from Mexico have come across the border to the U.S in search of work but, is it having any effect. Today the impact of unauthorized Mexican migrants has a noticeable effect on the U.S workforce and economy. First off, low-skilled Mexican immigrants are making the U.S labor force more efficient. Secondly, the pure numbers of unauthorized Mexican migrants is having an effect on the economy. Lastly, unauthorized Mexican migrants are having largely positive but negative effects on the U.S workforce and economy. These could also be responsible for the efficiency of the unauthorized Mexican workforce.
When I was 14 years old my father come to my room and told me that we were going to move to the United States. In a year, my father got everything we needed, so we can move to the United States. Our passport, the L1 that is the work visa, is the one my father got, he buy a house, and all of other stuff. The day that we travel was 2010 when I was 15 years old. We came here withouth anything we only have a house and ourselves. When we arrive home we didn’t have a bed, so we sleep in a airbed for like two weeks, while we buy the furniture. In a month we bought the beds, some sofas, a car, and some other things. A year later we have been buying a lot of new things to decorate the house. Also,
During the course of society there are many social issues that arise within the community. As New York City is one of the most diverse society in population and cultures, many of our communities are facing issues that often affect the development of the society as a whole. Like many people who experience difficulties and need help, this help is provided by a network of agencies and organizations in the field of Human Servcices. Many Human Services organizations advocate for their community and their people to help provide efficient services for those in need. Workers in the Human Services field offer assistance in their community to help fight social issues as well as helping them cope with or solve everyday problems. In this paper I'll discuss a social issue among the immigrants in New York city. In that same case, a visited a Human Services agency that advocates and provide sources to help regarding this issue in the community for immigrants in New York City.
President Obama’s government is the only one that has deported more than 2.5 million people back to their native country. Some of the immigrates who were detained for deportation appeared to be undocumented or apprehended through traffic violations, misdemeanor and felony cases and expired work visas. Without the policy being modified to reflect a change in the deportation laws, more undocumented immigrates who are parents of children that are America citizens would be separated from their children and families indefinitely.
According to Singer, in times of economic crisis immigrants take jobs away from U.S.-born citizens. In an analysis of Bureau of Labor Statistics data there are several industry sectors and the educational status of immigrant and native workers examine their role across a broad set of industries and occupations. The most of immigrants share the U.S. labor force, since the immigrants come to the U.S. during their working ages. The higher share of working age adults is those who have not completed high school among the foreign-born than among the U.S.-born. This reflects demand for workers in industries such as food services, construction, and agriculture where the most of the immigrant workers are low-skilled. Mexican workers, for instance were
Freedom, American dream, diversity, happiness, free land, freedom of religion is all the words associated with what we call America. What we describe America as, is the reason people rush towards this free country, yet still face problems when they get here. Immigrants that rush to the United States each year are in hopes of starting there fresh life in the soil of this free land, yet they are still stricken with difficulties that they had never dreamed of. Many third world countries often become places of distress and discomfort leaving their citizen no choice but to flee to a better place for a living. Many immigrants that come to the US endure hardships in their homeland countries such as poverty, war, persecution, and rape that they
For this oral history course I will explore the topic of immigrant’s laborers and their story as me and two other students of the class, have been selected to be internes for The Immigrant Workers Center and contribute to the creation of a collection of stories from immigrant laborers to add clips to the organisation’s website. I am particularly interested by this project, as I already have some knowledge about immigrants and their struggles due to my parents, yet I seek to learn more and hear new stories, new perspectives and new experiences about immigration. The knowledge about the immigrants’ difficulties and concerns that I have comes from my parents and their friends, who are partly Ukrainian and Congolese. Now I want to hear from
Immigrants from all of Latin America come to this country in look of a better life. Enrique came from the Central American country of Honduras. He came to the United States in search of prosperity and money to maintain his family back home. He went through the treacherous journey that is traveling through the jungle and desert in order to achieve his goal. The goal of making it alive to the country of opportunity, America. He found a job at a farm down in California. He was paid well, and made enough to maintain himself and family back in Honduras. 3 months after his arrival, he was caught by border patrol in a sting operation. He was later deported back to his home country. Many immigrants have gone through what Enrique has; it must be heart breaking to have your dreams taken right from you.
