Many people, since I was little, pressured me into going to college. My parents didn't mind what I decided, all that mattered is what makes me happy. They would support me no matter what my heart decided to do. Over the years family members tried to persuade me into believing that without a college degree you'll never become successful. To them, college had to be a part of my future which I think is the main reason I decided that college would be for me. Ever since I was told that I started to disagree and pushed myself to realize that I wanted to prove them wrong. I can do anything I want and accomplish any goals I have as long as I set my mind to it. College isn't the only way to become successful, working can get you places you never thought possible.
College `wasn't always an option of mines. I've never really had an interest in pursuing a college dream. For most students college is their life. It's the only thing they look forward to after they graduate. But I only look forward to starting a life in the work field and making money to support myself. For me. Working

It's more of a hobby. I can absolutely see myself working this type of job in the near future. The love I have for animals and the outdoors are unbelievable, especially if I get paid while I'm doing this as well. I don't know exactly when or where I am going to find the right job for this career but all I know is that I have to start somewhere. Even if it's somewhere over here or maybe off the island, either one I'd be happy to do. Working out in the mainland could be a great experience for me as well. I get to see all the different ways that the ranches up there take care of their animals or even how they have things running on the ranch. Sometimes is good to get out of your comfort zone and try new things. Who knows, you might just actually end up loving
Since I started community college I’ve heard several dozen cases of people changing their major, changing their transfer college, or just changing their mind. I’m not likely to do any of that, I choose to use my time in high school deciding what I wanted to do and so far I am sticking to it without a doubt in my mind. I chose to go to community college, earn my Associate's in Business Administration, and transfer to James Madison University in the fall of 2018, graduate in 2020 with my Bachelor’s. I intend to get my Master’s either right after my Bachelor’s or within a few years of my career. I hope to have a job leaving JMU, my first accounting job of my career. I decided to major in accounting for a plethora of reasons, but not what most people expect.
I made the decision to go back to school for many different reasons. I saw it as an opportunity to continue my education, potentially make more money in my career and prove to myself that I could accomplish this goal. Even after, placing this personal goal on hold for the past ten years, having three children and working. I knew this would definitely help me in the long run. It has always been dream of mine to graduate from college. To do what only two of my family members before me have done. Growing up in Compton, California. College wasn't an option for most, however I was fortunate enough to have parents who believed in me and my sisters and really pushed us to continue to further our education. I believe moving forward if I stay persistent
Ever since I can remember I have had an intense curiosity about the world and the people in it. This is probably due mostly to my parents who read to me nonstop but it has fuelled most of my learning experiences and given me a love of the world and of people, and the understanding of both of those. This love was further developed when I began four years of learning Attic Greek and Latin through a classical education. Then, after yearning to go overseas since I was eight years old and saving for it most of the time since then, I made it to England for six weeks this summer. Here my appetite for understanding is being indulged not just with words and pictures but with real world experiences which I can touch, see, and hear. Now, as I near the end of my stay, I am looking ahead to the rest of high school and I have decided I want to make the most of my junior and
As a result of several motivational purposes, there are many driving factors to go to college that can and will impact one’s life. Before going to college, I waited 2 ½ years after I graduated high school to finally make my decision to go to college. The reason it took me so long is that I did not know what I wanted to do with my life. First, I wanted to be a probation officer, then I changed my mind to be an OBGYN, then finally I made the decision to become a nurse. I know I have a long road of schooling ahead of me, but that is okay. I have wonderful people in my life that encourage me to continue my studies. Going to college is important since it can open many opportunities to get into a better career field, it is a fun experience, and it can also start a tradition in my family.
I don’t think the reality of college hit me until this year. It always seemed like an abstract idea rather than a reality but a reality it is. I know college isn’t necessary for a successful life, my dad has done just fine for example. But at the end of the day, college represents something more for me, something extra. The reason I want to be in college is simple, I want to better myself, dive deeper into learning and strive to exceed the expectations set out for me.
The main reasons why I chose to go to college was, get better education for myself, be a role model for my children and to earn my degree to get a high paying job.
Everyone when they were younger say what they want to be when they older right? My plan was to always go to college after high school. I choice to go to College now because it's at the right time graduating right after high school this year , might as well start college now and take no years off to get things moving quicker and hopefully get my career if I do well in college which I hope . In my opinion it's better to start soon then later. There were a few individuals in my life that continuously tried to influence me to attend college. I had several family members that were attending college, and a couple that had already graduated. Being around my family always made me think about my lifetime goals career and education wise
Trying to decide what to do for the rest of my life is a hassle. I have to consider what I do well, what I enjoy, and how much income I would like to make. No one wants to wake up every morning hating their lives because they have to work long hours doing something they do not enjoy just to earn an income. The more a person loves their job, the better they will be at it and the more they will be willing to go to work. After spending many years being indecisive about my future, I have finally committed to pursue a career in speech pathology at Nicholls State University.
Moving to college was one of the biggest and most terrifying moments of my life so far. I was absolutely terrified to move out on my own and move away from the life I had always known. But moving away to college has been the best decision I have ever made. I have had an amazing college experience so far. I have met so many people and have been challenged in ways I never even thought possible. I have accomplished some great things like joining Sigma Eta Rho which is a professional fraternity for health professions. I also received the opportunity to become a part of their leadership team. I have joined a group on campus called StuMo, which stands for student mobilization. The goal of this group is to build spiritual leaders for Christ from the college campuses of the world. These things are only a preview of all the things college has brought me, but one of the
I chose to go to college instead of heading straight into the workplace after high school because I want to further my education in a field to acquire a job in. I want to be able to have a job that is in my interest and that I will love instead. Continuing my education is going to expand my horizons, and help me to increase my knowledge of the world around me. While furthering my education through college, I am also working to make my family proud of me, to show that I am preparing to live on my own and to head into the work force. During this process, I am also learning to be able to provide for my future
I know that college will be challenging for me because, lacking knowledge of computer skills, health issues, and work. First of all, knowledge of the computer is difficult for me because I grew up not receiving training on computers. Furthermore, I have trouble with my memory, due to my pass , I suffer from several diabilities.Furthermore,my short term memory lost plays a major part in accomplishing my goals.
When grabbing my assignments off of the printer in the office for high school, something always seems to catch my eye. The bright streetlight shining through the window reflecting off mounted frames with very important pieces of paper inside. I stand there and lean out of the way of the light beaming into the room to read each line. I have done this with my parent’s degrees ever since I was little. I always knew they were important and that someday, I too would have them. Now, I realize how these pieces of paper are much more than a degree; they are hard work, sacrifice and opportunities.
My decision on coming to college came from a variety of different reasons. One of the main reasons that I choose to come to college was not only based upon me always being told that I needed to go to college, but because I felt that it was a fundamental asset in my life to become successful. Furthermore, I have always viewed college as a great opportunity for diversity in addition to also being a pronounced place to further my education. Some of the experiences that influenced my decisions in high school to attend college came from my teachers. The majority of my teachers always stressed the importance of college with the importance of furthering your education. Correspondingly, the process of being able to go through the entire four years
There are multiple reasons why I am attending college. Just like most students I wanted to better my education, gain more knowledge, and to provide for my future family. Obtaining independence was another large factor in my decision to go to college. I wanted to feel more responsible for my actions and a great level of independence. Not everyone has the opportunity to attend college, and if I have this opportunity then I want to take advantage of it. Also, I am here to break a family standard. I am a first generation college student neither my parents nor sibling continued their education after high school. Considering that college graduates make on average more than individuals without an secondary education I believe it was a good decision
For many, after graduating high school the next big step is college. I never asked myself why or if I even wanted to. Yet, since I was not yet ready to join the work force, and didn’t want to disappoint my parents, I simply followed the path that I was supposed to take. For a while I had no direction, but through the loss of my high school English teacher and my dream of making my family proud, I discovered that college was the place I wanted and needed to be.
