Sports have had an impact on my life in good ways and ways that I didn’t want them to go. The reason that it didn’t go like I wanted it to was because of the way that I got treated by a coach. It made me change my decision on a sport I loved to play, but I just couldn’t handle the mistreatment that I got. They have influenced me in good ways such as teamwork, motivation, independence and encouragement.
These four words really stick with me through sports and in the classroom. I play two sports and those two sports are really teamwork and motivation. Basketball is a teamwork and confidence type of sport. Softball really taught me encouragement and independence. Also, those are very good to have in school. Independence plays a role in softball because it is a very independent sport. Mostly, everything in softball is independent. You score as a team and you work as a team, but you bat on your own, score on your own, and make plays on your own. That is what I really like about this sport, you can teach yourself so that way you can become a better player. I plan to go into the surgical tech program, and those three things I just mentioned all need to be part of that job. Specifically, teamwork that is a skill that applies to surgical tech. The reason that it is independent is because you are the one assisting the doctor with the right tools and you need to make sure you get the right one to the doctor. Confidence also plays a little role in surgical tech because you need to make sure that the right tools are in the hands of the doctor. Also, you need to make sure that the procedure goes the way it is supposed to. Encouragement has a little role with it because you want the encouragement from your coworkers and your doctors to let you know that you will be a successful worker in that
