While it may be true that it is expensive, it is worth it. According to College Power Bulletin, people with a Bachelor’s degree make, on average, almost twice as much as a highschool graduate. The average high school graduate makes about $1,531,400 in their life, while someone with a Bachelor’s degree would make approximately $2,742,160. If one has a college degree, they can pay off the fee later in their life. A person could also help their family with the extra money made from getting a degree. Another thing Journal News has said is that while jobs that do not require degrees may be more common, the fact that someone did not have a college degree will be reflected in their annual wage. This shows that one who does not have a college degree will not have as much of an annual wage as those who went to college. It is worth paying a little extra money to get a college degree.

There are some people who think college is a waste of time. Then there are others who would debate that opinion and say college is an essential key to life. With a college education, I would have a better opportunity at making my life a lot better. I will be giving myself the opportunity live above the poverty level of today and I will be giving myself a chance at middle-class living. College can be extremely tough if I am not disciplined but it is well worth it. Going to college gives me the advantage of a better education at something that I love, growth in my career, achieve independence and great aspect of networking.

Attending college or pursuing a higher education is worth it because a degree ensures a stable, well paying job and provides a better quality of life. In Document A, “Earning and Unemployment Rates Based on Educational Attainment, 2015” compiled by the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics, a higher educational degree, such as a Doctorate or Professional degree, corresponded to a lower unemployment rate with a higher pay, while little to no educational degree corresponded to a higher unemployment rate with a lower pay. This means people who received a college degree had a better chance of finding and retaining a well-paying job because they are typically skilled in one profession that cannot easily be replaced, such as a doctor or engineer.

The difference in pay per year between a person with just a high school degree and a person with a college degree is $17,500. You could buy some new cars for that much money! Not only would you be wealthier, you would also be much more likely to be wiser as well. Earning a degree provides one with new knowledge and information, it teaches them how to critically think and how to solve problems. Throughout a student’s journey of schooling, college is mentioned hundreds of times. Maybe even thousands. Once they reach high school the next four years are dedicated to preparing for college. Some will feel overwhelmed by this thought and others may not. While a lot of people have the option to go, many decide not to. Although in my own opinion it is not always necessary to attend college, I do believe it will benefit many people. Freeman Hrabowski’s article Colleges Prepare People for Life makes a point about benefits of college which I agree with.

While some people might still argue that a college education is not worth the investment, I believe that it is and so does William J. Lowe in “Education is Worth the Investment,” he explains the differences between a college graduate and a non college graduate. Lowe says, “Americans with four-year college degrees are not only equipped for a fulfilling adult and professional life but made 98 percent more and hour on average than those without a degree.” College graduates are more likely to be employed fulltime than non college graduates (Lowe). College teaches you so many new things and gives you a lot of opportunities, such as being independent, it allows you to growing as a person, it helps you become well educated, it shows you that there are many ways you can succeed and it helps you follow your dreams. I know that college is very expensive but I know it will help me follow my dream of becoming a pediatrician.

The second reason that college is worth it, is better opportunities. Such as better career’s and job security. As the education corner also notes that “Earning a college degree is the most common pathway to a better career.”. While most students do not know what they want to do when they enter college it provides them with a wide range of skills. As the education corner says “college trains you to think analytically, understand complex subjects and communicate your own critical ideas about them. It also instills crucial skills like organization, self-discipline and the ability to complete tasks from start to finish. In other words, college helps mold you into a more professional individual.”. And while college can sometimes backfire like Peter Cappelli warns of. But even if you don’t end up in your disarered field you will be better prepared for any job field you enter into. While specaliton could potentially hurt graduates after college it can help them just as much. If graduates pick the right field to specialize in they will have no problem to find a job. And even if graduates can not find a job in their specialized field they will still have an advanced skill set as menationed above. As Rotherham stated, data shows college is the right choice if you wish to have it easier as an adult getting a job and a higher salary than high school graduates. Although, some think college isn’t worth it because they think it’s like high school, except you have to pay for it. “You might think college is just high school continued, but it’s not. College opens doors for you… It can change and shape you in ways you can’t imagine” (bigfuture). College gives you many opportunities high school can’t. That is a reason why many students choose to go.

Going to college and obtaining a college degree would provide one with endless possibilities and opportunities in their life. While attending college students have the chance to meet many new people. This provides students to get out of their shells and explore new ideas. Having a college degree also widens ones options for a career and gives the opportunity to make a better salary. Many jobs today are requiring employees to have some type of college degree. Employers also pay an extra amount if one does obtain a college degree, and having a college degree often provides for greater promotion opportunity.

Graduating from high school and going into college will defiantly help better the future career you decide to pursue in. Your major will depend on what you want to do. However you may change your mind and approach your future career differently. Doing so will either benefit or hurt you. College is the main stepping stone to the future.
