College Degree Worthcurring Significant Debt

Attending college or pursuing a higher education is worth it because a degree ensures a stable, well paying job and provides a better quality of life. In Document A, “Earning and Unemployment Rates Based on Educational Attainment, 2015” compiled by the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics, a higher educational degree, such as a Doctorate or Professional degree, corresponded to a lower unemployment rate with a higher pay, while little to no educational degree corresponded to a higher unemployment rate with a lower pay. This means people who received a college degree had a better chance of finding and retaining a well-paying job because they are typically skilled in one profession that cannot easily be replaced, such as a doctor or engineer.

Many high school students all think the same question. Is college worth the money and time? People can be more successful with a college degree if they use it the right way. With a degree there is a higher percentage of getting a more premier job. In the long run, college is worth it because most jobs pay more for people with a degree, the amount of jobs available are more broad, and college graduates tend to live a healthier life.

In our society today, college is something that one is looked upon to do. Today our society is mostly looked at by our education level rather than who the person truly is. Now society is also looking at this generation for us to know that to succeed, one might set high goals for their self, which means going to college and pursing a degree. On the other hand, there are some people in this world that graduated from high school and have never been to college and are just happy with their life like it is. There are two ways to look at this topic. One is that college is worth the cost and another view is that college is not worth the cost at all. College is worth the cost. College can still be worth it for many people when they are deciding on their future path. College doesn’t have to be very expensive, there are many scholarships that students can apply for to help reduce the cost. Also, having a college degree will allow the person to have the option for career changes in their lifetime. Some colleges offer work co-op programs,an internship, where the person can get a degree, learn their skill, and make money. This allows them to feel more comfortable in their field, and it helps to eliminate some of their student debt. With the huge amount of debt and underemployment, is college still worth your admission? We must lower the amount of tuition cost so that it is more affordable for low income students to attend and not be afraid of the debt after graduating.

This is because, when you have a college education you end up making an average of 2 times more than a person with a high school diploma and also there will be more job opportunities. Even if you end up not using your diploma from college to get a job it will still look better on job application so, you are usually more likely to be chosen for that job. One other reason is, the unemployment rate is much less for employees with college diplomas rather than high school diplomas.

Even though tuition costs are rising drastically, individuals should go to college in order to get a higher paying job and preferable education level. In my opinion, college is worth the expenses for various reasons. College also provides opportunities that are not available to those who have not received higher education. Not only do college graduates have a significantly higher chance of getting the job they desire, they are also half as likely to be unemployed.

In conclusion, after analyzing the advantages, disadvantages, costs, and student debt of a getting a college education. It is definitely easier to answer the question of whether or not college is worth the student loan debt. Investing in a college education requires much preparation on the front-end before making a final decision on whether to attend college. Overall, the research posits that a college degree is worth the investment. However, the return on investment indicates that the possession of a college degree at every level have higher earnings, more employability, lower unemployment rates and poverty level, more exposure culturally, better career choices, and largely a better quality of life than high school graduates.
