There are events in life, which can change yourself or your way of thinking. As for me, I think the major change in my life occurred when I moved from France to America. This change has entirely affected my personality. Why? I arrived in the United States during the summer of 2002. It was really hard for me since my parents had only told me about the move in April of that year. Therefore, I did not have the time to prepare myself psychologically. My parents had talked about coming here for a very long time, even before I was born. Everything started in 1973. Indeed, my parents came from Iran to Europe in order to finish their studies and then to return back home. However, even at that time, they had not set their mind as to where they …show more content…
They started working and over the course of time, my sister and I were born. However, my parents always kept thinking about the "U.S. project." In 1997, we got Permanent Resident Cards, thanks to my grandmother who has been in America for over twenty years. Since the Iranian Revolution in 1979, my parents had planned on coming to America, but they always just talked about it. I never thought they were committed to making the move. Then, in January 2000, my sister came to America to complete her studies and to settle here. She had always dreamed of living in the United States. That is the reason why she decided to move to this country. Then, in April 2002, my parents made one of the hardest and the most delicate decisions of their lives: they finally made the decision to move to America. It was not easy to make that decision because it would require my parents to leave the comfort of their jobs, their houses, their cars and their friends in France. Once the decision made, and four months later, my parents and I finally moved to the United States.
As far as I am concerned, moving to the United States has taught me a lot. Indeed, even though I had already come to this country several times before for vacation, there are a lot of aspects that I had not thought about. For instance, its people, their mentalities, the culture, the system especially in education. When I first arrived, I had a hard time transitioning from the French to the American system. In addition, the
There are many significant parts of my life that have had a huge impact on my personality, but there is one that has not only affected me, but has changed me for the better. My personal life changing experience was coming to America. For me, this bridge between my old life and new life is a shaky bridge that I attempted to cross and entered a whole new realm of life which changed everything. The decision about coming to America has taught me how to respect other people, be more responsible, and be more loving towards various friends and families. It has also helped me adapt to the new life that I’m about to begin. It was so unexpected. Out of nowhere my parents broke the news: “We’re going to America!” Living in a big town of Bhopal,
Looking back on it now, my parents did a lot to get us here in the United States we immigrated from Montego Bay Jamaica to Jacksonville Fl. When I was about six years old. It was my mother, father, my two older sisters and I who all came together it was a long process but well worth the wait, there is a lot of paper works, shots and pictures that had to be taken just to leave my homeland, man it was so tiring watching my parents fill out paper after paper about each one of us individually.

All people seem to want the same basic things out of life regardless of race or religion. Universally, people want a good job, a healthy family, and a chance for their children to have a better life than the one they have. Families that already possess these things, whether through their own hard work or merely by way of inheritance, rely on the existing power structures within society to ensure that their future happiness continues . But what do people who do not belong to existing power structures turn to in order to secure these things for their families and children?
Moving to the United States was a difficult experience for me. At first I felt like I had no family. I only had my daughter and my husband. But things have changed for
In 1996 Angelina was only thirty years old when she first arrived in America. Angelina left behind her 7 other siblings and parents, to start a new life in this unknown country. Before coming to America she lived in a tiny town in Mexico, her life in Mexico was much nicer than her life in America from what she described. Angelina mentioned that one of her biggest passions is cooking, “My sisters and I had our own restaurant, we sold food during the day, and during the night I would go out with friends and buy ice cream or delicious churros.” For Angelina one of the biggest benefits of living in Mexico was being close to her family members, “the whole family would go out on field trips every now and then, my favorite were trips to the beach,
I was born and raised in Vietnam. At the age of thirteen, my family decided to move to America for living. The story of my life has no different than other immigrant students. The story of how parents decided to give up everything that they had built for years and came to another country for a fresh new start. The story of how people like me, immigrants, got mocked and discriminated for our broken English. The story of how I cried mostly everyday because I did not fit in within the society. And the story of how I struggle to find something that my family originally came to this country for, the American Dream. The story of my life is not original, at least not anymore, since there are a lot of people in this nation have the same story as I
Prior to moving to the United States, my life was less challenge and much easier. I was not an independent person. I did not know to do a lot of things in the past. For instance, I could not cook, I never took bus, I did not know where to get an ID or a driver license, and I was not sure where to fix my scooter if it was broken. I simply made a phone call to either my father or my mother, and they handled everything for me. I could have done all the above things, but I did not want to because it was nice to have my parents take care of me. Additionally, I often spent time with my family and friends. We planned cook-out dinners, baby showers
By all who immigrate to America, a number of promises are expected. Coming to the New World may be a long and frightening journey, especially for those who do not speak English or share American customs. Despite its chilling mask, however, America redeems itself by providing its citizens with a new life, freedom, peace, hope, guidance, welcoming, and unity, making the tedious route to American citizenship worthwhile.
Arriving to the United States was a significant event to me because it made see myself, as well as the world around me from an entirely different viewpoint. I came from a country where violence is the answer to everything. I was astonished to see a country with unity and peace when I arrived to the United States. I even noticed tremendous difference culturally and in religious aspects as well. However, there was enormous difference between the American traditional food and my traditional food. Getting used to the many different names of pork was quite a bit challenging since there is more than one name for it. My culture and religion does not allow me to eat pork because it is forbidden. After arrival I remember having very difficulty understanding and speaking English. However; with the help of my teachers at school and tutors and self study, I was able to speak in English and understand after couple of years. In high school I have challenged myself by taking advanced courses, being an English learner it was very challenging but deep inside I knew that it takes hard work and determination to accomplish what you truly want in life. Believing that no one can stop me from becoming what I want, kept me
The American dream is the freedom to travel, to get to get a job, to start a family, and to get an education. Now all this can be done by hard work and dedication. This is a wonderful country to start a business or get a job, even to invent something. For example, there are a few foreigners that come to America to show off their talents so they can be a professional performer in talents or all kinds on America's got talent. So that falls under the categories that America is a beautiful country that helps you complete any American dream that you wish or believe in accomplishing.

mmigration in the United States has been a problem for many years. The questions of whether immigrants are protected under our laws or not has been battled out in courtrooms. From De Canas v. Bica, which was about the employment of illegals to Toll v. Moreno, which denied G-4 aliens from obtaining an in state status that would help them pay less for college. Even though our right to education has not yet been written into the Constitution it has been applied in the fourteenth amendment. Most specifically in the Equal Protections Clause, which states in shorter words that “all American citizens should be treated equally by the law.” This amendment protects all “people” within the state.(Constitutional Rights Foundation).
Immigrating to a new country can be difficult at first, but there are several ways that can get immigrants accustomed to their surroundings much easier. Acquiring a job is one of the first things an immigrant should do while moving to their new country. The next thing foreigners can do to easily adapt to their new home is learning a new language. Another simple yet effective way for expatriates to assimilate their new country is to join clubs, take classes, and volunteer locally. First and foremost, getting a job can help immigrants who have just moved into the country adjust more easily.
This is a most shocked experience for me in trip to America. When I took English lesson, I introduce myself to English teacher. Because I like growing flowers and vegetables, then I said. “I’m a naturalist”. At that moment, she is very surprised. I didn’t understand why she was. I asked her why and she taught me. “A naturalist is the person who lives naked at all times. In this case, you should say I’m a nature lover!” I understood all of that and laughed a lot. This correspondence with her was a strong impact.
