The article I read about Ted Cruz was particularly worrisome. I am a firm believer that who ever decides to run for president should be an american first and then be a religious person in their day to day life. I find it terrifying that some of Ted Cruz supporters are saying these cruel and horrendous things and he seems it be going right along with it. I have to admit that Ted Cruz would make a much better candidate than Donald Trump however, based on what I just read I am slowly beginning to doubt that. I will never understand what drives certain individuals to want to control individual who are just a bit different from the majority. I believe that regardless of what any one is and especially if they are a presidential candidate, should be a humanitarian and advocate fairness for all and go against those who want to hurt others. …show more content…
I have never seen this show but, I know it has a large fan base, so it bothered me to know that he literally said “We have to rid the Earth of them” in reference to gay people. This may be just my perception but when I acknowledge this I really hope he is not considering mass genocide but from what I have seen from Ted Cruz’s supporters that doesn't seem to be such an out of place
According to a video “Presidential Candidate Ted Cruz Nevada Caucus Night Speech,” taken on February 24, 2016, in Los Vegas. After he get introduced to the night party he starts his speech with “God bless the great state of Nevada.” He also ends his speech with “Thank you and god bless you.” The reason that I bring this up is because Lakoff mentions something about it. Christian conservative see god has a strict father (80). He is paying his respect to his father figure. I say father figure not to mean that he didn’t have a father. If you use the “strict father model (78)” then you can think of Ted Cruz as being a child of God. God wants to teach him what is right and what is wrong. He does this through his bible. The bible is the teaching that a father would normally teach his child has the child grows up. Maybe Ted Cruz believes that if he doesn’t say these words than he is disobeying his father. His father would then have to give Cruz his punishment. The bible tells Cruz what his punishment will be because god is no longer on earth. Second, Ted Cruz goes to thank and introduce another man. The man who Ted Cruz says this about is Adam Laxalt. He is a “tremendous, strong, principled constitutionalist conservative, when he ran for attorney general, all the political establishment was against him. He wasn’t supposed to win.” The reason why I think Cruz says this is one he would
The history of the gay rights movement goes as far back as the late 19th century. More accurately, the quest by gays to search out others like themselves and foster a feeling of identity has been around since then. It is an innovative movement that seeks to change existing norms and gain acceptance within our culture. By 1915, one gay person said that the gay world was a "community, distinctly organized" (Milestones 1991), but kept mostly out of view because of social hostility. According to the Milestones article, after World War II, around 1940, many cities saw their first gay bars open as many homosexuals began to start a networking system. However, their newfound visibility only backfired on them, as
On the issues, Ted Cruz holds many unique positions, often stirring controversy amongst Democrats and fellow Republicans alike. Ted Cruz identifies strongly with the Tea Party Movement, leaning to the far right on many social, domestic and international issues. He particularly emphasizes his bold stances on issues like fighting ISIS, reducing taxes, and lifting regulations on business. However, one area that Cruz is especially passionate about is the many social issues that are debated by American citizens. On gay marriage, Cruz has maintained that he as a believer in traditional marriage between a man and a woman. He sponsored and passed a bill in the United States Senate to leave the decision of marriage to individual state legislatures.
Ted Cruz has strong views on abortion. Americans tend to be more ambivalent. House of Representatives on Friday passed two abortion-related bills (Sept 2015) — one aimed at cutting federal funds to Planned Parenthood, the other at punishing doctors who fail to provide medical care to infants that survive abortion attempts.(Danielle Kurtzzleben)
Well, "The long-running “birther” controversy–a rather bizarre conspiracy theory which holds that President Obama was not born in the United States–refuses to go away, kept alive by business celebrity Donald Trump and other assorted critics," (UCF Today, David Houghton). Every four years, when the current president's term ends, new candidates to lead our nation arise. All of them are seemingly perfect, so how do you take down the competition? You make rumors about them. Ted Cruz is the most recent of these attacks, but all points of evidence show that he is innocent. The online news outlet "The Atlantic", says that Ted Cruz's mother was a citizen of the United States, therefore he was granted United States citizenship and did not go through naturalization. With these ideals intact, we won't lose very valid candidates to in our elections to misinterpreted laws in our
The biggest difference between the two men is that Trump is the most thin-skinned person in human history, and reacts to the smallest slight with the hair-trigger wounded ego of a male flight attendant, whereas Ted Cruz is immune to insults because he’s learned to live in a world where everyone—everywhere—has always hated him.
Ted Cruz stands for the Bible and what is right in Gods eyes. Hillary claims that she believes God, but her actions and words fail to make people believe that. Ted realizes that the only way for America to become better is by first starting with education and making it better the children. Then he wants to lower taxes, and work out foreign affairs these are his main concerns. Hillary wants to only help the middle class and by doing that she thinks it will make America grow. This is why Ted Cruz is a better candidate and would solve many issues in America
"Particularly when Trump’s worried I’m going to get his votes and Senator Ted, the smear artist, is smearing me, spending a million dollar. For a guy that is not doing very well, they sure are worried and spending a lot of money trying to knock me out. But they are not gonna be successful."
There are many intelligent candidates that will be running for presidency in the next election. All of them come from a different back ground and have a different goal to achieve while they are in the president’s seat. However, I believe Ted Cruz would be a great candidate to the white house seat. Ted Cruz is a senator from Texas and his gifted talent in public speaking has given him a great opportunity to defeat his fellow competitors. He graduated at Houston's Second Baptist High School as a valedictorian of his class. He used his talent and further his education at Princeton University. He graduated in 1992; however, he is not yet
The majority of people that are against Cruz, do not hate him, they just believe that he is too inexperienced for example Mascaro stated, “that Cruz simply needs more time and experience”. There are some instances where Cruz did not do his research or fact check information, but rather he would spit ball answers. For example, when asked about The Supreme Court's decision to legalize same-sex marriage nationwide, Cruz stated that it “isn't what the American people wanted”, but in fact most polls say around 60 percent favor same-sex marriage (Mancuso). Once Cruz read a Dr. Seuss book (Green Eggs and Ham), but completely misinterpreted the point of the story. "Green Eggs and Ham has some applicability, as curious as it may sound, to the Obamacare debate," adding that Americans "did not like green eggs and ham, and they did not like Obamacare either." Cruz without realizing that the moral of the whole story is that in the end he actually enjoyed Green Eggs and Ham. Another time Cruz suggested that “net neutrality would…restrict technological expansion and innovation, and used the iPhone as an example of technology that wouldn’t have been discovered if it had been regulated by the Federal Communications Commission” (Cesca). Again, Cruz did not fact-check his claim, because the federal government regulates the iPhone and the evidence is a FCC logo located on the back. Leaving
Presidential Candidate Ted Cruz implicated a strategy to diminish illegal immigration. He intends to build a wall, increase border patrol, utilize an e-verify system in the work place so you can’t get a job without legal proof and “put in place biometric exit-entry systems on visas.” Cruz’s incredibly absurd attempts to make American great again and “to take back our jobs,” are completely ridiculous.
Ted Cruz is the best candidate for president. He has experience in politics and his experience will help make our nation better and give us more power. Being he has experience in politics proves he is the best candidate for president he knows more because of all his experience. He will take action on issues we need to get solved while in office if he gets elected. Because he will take action while he is in office and not just say what he is going to do and not do it is another reason to prove he is the best candidate for president.
The United States government does not have the public approval to accomplish this goal. Just like the politicians convinced the public during World War II that the Japanese needed to be contained, Mr. Cruz hopes to convince the American people that the Muslim-Americans need similar treatment. By manipulating the public’s fears of attacks, he hopes to grow prejudice in the public against Muslim-Americans. The seeds of prejudice already exist in the public, simply because the Muslim culture is new to America. Given more time stronger relations could be built within the communities and eventually the nation could grow to accept their culture. In the present however, the American public fears what some Muslims have shown they are capable of and
We have all at some point or another heard someone say that God made Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve. This saying is an excellent example of how a large number of Christian fundamentalist feel about the homosexual community. Studies have shown that there are more Christian homophobes than there is homophobia in any other group or religion in the United States (Wolff, J. R., Himes, H. L., Kwon, E., & Bollinger, R. A., 2012). Homophobia is the irrational fear of, aversion to, or discrimination against homosexuality or homosexuals. In Christianity, homophobia represents misunderstanding and fear of the unknown.
Because as it turns out Ted Cruz non-endorsement of Donald Trump last night had nothing to do with deeply held principles, conscious, or politically calculated. It was just the opposite. It was simply the reaction of a overgrown child who had his feelings hurt. It was a school yard name-calling fight. Taking place on one of the largest political stages in the world. It was in a word
