Vietnam is divided into two distinct zones which are a communist party (North Vietnam) and a democratic party (South Vietnam). Shortly after the cold war had broke out between both parties and their differences. Throughout the war, The united states became involved and sent troops to guide the south, since we supported their political view. Even though the south side fell to north vietnam, which caused a majority of people from vietnam to migrate away from this country. Due to the political differences, poverty and the continuation of the war, also led those to leave vietnam. After all the noth overpowered the south and those who tried to escape the situation they were involved in and leave vietnam from the south were directed to oversea camps, dealing with the torture they were put through and were learning about the new government that …show more content…

Many of them left by boats, however some of the boats were small and could only take one single family, but the other boats could hold up hundreds of refugees. All though this was the method the vietnamese used to escape, this led to them being recognized as the “boat people”. A few of the boats were not sturdy enough, and couldn’t support so many of the people who were trying to leave, this led them to not travel very far, and caused them to go in different routes and migrate to different parts of the south china sea. This journey was very threatening, this caused their sources to vary, some people ended up dying, even pirates started to target them as they were traveling and stealing all their goods and killing those on the boat. The united nations began to take in about the troubles/problems that the vietnamese dealt with trying to escape and to find a better life someplace else to escape the torture they were involved
