Abraham Lincoln and Martin Luther King Jr. Abraham Lincoln and Martin Luther King both influenced history at different time for very similar beliefs. They bought fought for civil rights of African Americans who did not always have the rights they have now. They were once slaves and owned by white people .As slaves they were required to do what they were told. A slave had no rights and was treated like a nobody. They were often beaten physically and mentally. Lincoln fought for the freedom of slaves and even went to war for this belief. Once the African Americans were now free from slavery they were not always treated as equals. They were once treated as outcasts and did not begin with white people. They were not allowed to be in the front at all. The bus drivers would make them all move to the back. This was also the law at the time. Any black in the font would be arrested an taken to jail. They boycott was when African Americans stopped taking the bus. This was hurtful to the transit because they were the majority of people who rode the bus. This cause them t hurt financially. The boycott started in 1955 and by 1956, where no ne the busses in alamba and Montgomery were no longer segregated. . King was treated unfairly at times. People would protest at his protest and sometimes be violent , but that did not stop kings fight. Many people believed in kings beliefs and followed him in his marches and protests. Many people were arrested along with king in this fight. The fight was not in vain. Segregation ended in 1967 a battle won for civil rights. . Thy are both known for being great speakers and giving great speeches. Lincolns Gettysburg address is still remembered today. It is one of the most famous speeches in histoy.The Gettysburg address was given after the civil war. He referred back to the revolutionary war when he said four scores and seven years ago. This speech was given at the dedication at the soldiers national cemetery in Gettysburg. That is where a lot of soldiers lost their lives and they dedicated it for their final resting place. Lyndon had a special relationship with other Civil Rights leaders but Lincoln was the start of it all. Both LBJ & Lincoln had special documents that helped start, stop or abolished Civil Rights. Lincoln had the “Emancipation Proclamation” & LBJ had the “Great Society”. Lincoln had the same views as every other white man , but what made him want to help Civil Rights if black men should not have the same rights. Lincoln had a slogan that said “ Both side pray the same God” , we are all equal no matter the skin color we are.

As a few white passengers boarded the bus and the white sections were already full so the driver shouted back at four black people including Rosa Parks “Move y'all, I want those two seats”. As this demand was made by the driver 3 of the bus riders obeyed to what was shouted back, however Rosa Parks remained in her seat and was determined not to move. She was arrested following the bus drivers order and fined ten dollars. This, however small incited a great wave of bus boycotts which in Montgomery black people chose not to ride the bus for a period of 381 days. This still to date is known as the moment in which the civil rights movement started to gain headway. It was the will of one woman who decided it was time for black people to take a stand and from this point on Martin Luther King was assigned to take this boycott on. Although he was assigned to take this on people also felt as he was young, fresh and people had not formulated enough of an opinion of him, there was little room for him to be hated yet so he posed as the right figure to lead this. The Montgomery Bus Boycott began with the public arrest of an African American woman and civil rights activist named Rosa Parks. As stated in Document A,”Rosa Parks boarded a city bus and sat down in the closest seat. It was one of the first rows of the section where blacks were not supposed to sit… The bus driver told Rosa Parks that she would have to give up her seat to a white person. She refused and was arrested.” Rosa’s arrest sparked a number of radical events that fought against racial inequality and segregation over the span of thirteen months. Most people know about Abraham Lincoln. He is famous for freeing black slaves and being the 16th president during the Civil War. Tough most people don’t know alot about Fredrick Douglass, the inspirer of Abraham Lincoln. Fredrick Douglass, at the time was the most famous African-American who was also wrote for newspapers. He was very close friends with Abraham Lincoln and Fredrick Douglass and influenced him through his decisions.
Basically, African Americans in Montgomery didn’t take the bus, so it would break the system because there weren’t many cars at the time. This lasted 382 days starting on December 1, 1955, to December 20, 1956, and gained a total of about 50,000 participants. Surprisingly, what lead to this was one African-American, Rosa Parks, who refused to move out of her seat for a white, and as a result, was arrested. Abraham Lincoln was born in a log cabin on February 12, 1809 in Hardin County, Kentucky. Much of his childhood was a struggle; his mother dying when he was just ten years old, and with his father being a frontiersman, money was scarce. He had to strive for a comfortable living, and he spent his days working on a farm and keeping a store. Education was also something of limited resources, but because of his hunger for knowledge, he was able to read, write, and cipher.
Firstly, Abraham Lincoln was never a person who said that a african american and white person were equal but instead said that they were man like them so they should be allowed to obtain property like theirs. In his personal life Abe had a unique upbringing and adulthood as he lived. His upbringing with a father who had no education, but was successful in life with what he did and a religious family to beat. Nevertheless, his uneducated father found a way to live a prosperous life being one of the most successful farmers in Kentucky. To boot, his family was one with morals and that came with being a family that was religious just like a great majority of southern culture all of them attended church on Sunday. Next, it came to his adulthood later on in his life he was a lawyer and even a statesman before doing anything else. He became a lawyer after studying for only 18 hours and started to practice law immediately; becoming very successful with the way he could use his words in court. While he was a
“Jim Crow” laws dictated that a black person must surrender their seat to a white person if there were no other seats available, and stand at the back of the bus. In December 1955; Rosa Parks refused to do this, and was arrested and fined $10. Her friends and family, led by Martin Luther King (who would later become leader of the Civil Rights Movement), immediately started a twenty-four hour bus boycott in response, and found it so successful that it was decided they would continue until the bus company agreed to seat customers on a first-come basis. Many black people became involved with the boycott, and as black passengers made up 75% of the bus company’s business it proved to be enormously damaging. The boycott attracted more black people to the civil rights movement.

He was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize and was the youngest to hold it. Assassinated on April 4, 1968, and fought for freedom and human rights. Luther was concern to rejected all violence types.
