My class recently watched a movie and also read a play on the Diary of Anne Frank. In the beginning, we meet the main character, Anne. Anne can be a bit crazy and can get stuck up in her own world. She also believes that she was born to be with a guy. Towards the middle, we see Anne’s family move to the Secret Annex to hide from the Nazis. The Van Daans also join the Frank’s in the Annex. The Annex is very crowded, with barely enough space for the two families. Everyone had to be quiet and even silent at certain times of the day. At the end, the Frank’s and the Van Daans get Although the movie and the play, both had similar plot lines, the movie was more impactful to me. Visually seeing the movie helped me see what the Annex looked like
Staying in an annex for two years without going outside may have been uncomfortable, but it gave everyone a better chance at survival. Character interaction, stage directions, and Anne’s diary are three significant ways historical events are portrayed in The Diary of Anne Frank. This play shows the reader that history can be written in many different
The Diary of Anne Frank is about a girl that kept a diary while hiding from Nazi’s in Amsterdam for two years. The diary ends when the Nazi’s found her and her family. Her whole family was killed in exception for her father. She was given the journal on her thirteenth birthday. She simply summarized her life for two years in this phenomenal journal.
After seeing the film and reading the text I learned a lot of information on what a Jews life in hiding was like. Both impacted me deeply but seeing the film was more impactful for me. In the film you could see what their living situation was like so you could get a better understanding of what being in hiding was like, it might not have been a exact replica of what it really was like but you still got a good idea of it. Also you could see the characters feelings and emotions. This helped the viewers know what they were feeling in a certain moment in time. So while both were very interesting I was more in favor of the Film over the Text, it add more elements to the story for me.
In conclusion, there are many similarities and differences to the movie and book we studied. There are many forms of The Diary of Anne Frank but all of them relate the her diary. Everyone that helped with the secret annex are very brave and courteous to everyone that was hiding there. In the end there are many people that did everything in their power to keep the secret annex from being found by the green police.
Have you ever been truly afraid? What about you felt like someone decides your life? Both Anne Frank from “The Diary of Anne Frank” and Gerda Klein from “Gerda Weissman Klein” have.
Have you ever wondered if Peter Vann Daan and Anne Frank are alike? There are many ways that they are the same and different. Their personalities, the way they act, and their feeling towards things are what make them unique.
One thing they have in common is they are all where home schooled. They all believed in the star of David religion. They are all Jewish kids or teens living in the secret annex with other families. They all died differently. However, I think this is where the similarity between the three teenagers ends.
In the Diary of Anne Frank, the two characters I chose to compare and contrast are Mrs. Frank and Mrs. Van Daan. These two ladies are similar and different in many ways. They are both middle aged women that live in Amsterdam. When the Holocaust began in 1939, Mrs. Frank and Mrs. Van Daan moved into the secret Annex with their families.
In the late 1930s and early 1940s the world experienced very traumatic events. Adolf Hitler comes to power in Germany. He banned all political parties, except the Nazis. Two of the families that were affected by his changes were the Franks and the Van Daans. Anne Frank was a member of the Frank family. Her family and the Van Daans experienced what was happening personally. During the time that she was forced to go into hiding, she kept a diary with her. The diary has become very important item for learning about the events that happened. Historical events are reflected in the play “The Diary of Anne Frank” by showing how what’s happening in the outside world affects the families that have had to go into hiding.
While in the Annex Mrs. frank shows courage in more ways than just toward her
Ideally, if one were to go into hiding, they would like to live comfortably. Based on the description given by Anne Frank in her diary, the annex in which she was hiding in wouldn’t have been the most comfortable living situation. Cramped, quiet, yet resourceful, the liberties of the annex was very limited. Using the information provided by The Diary of a Young Girl and The Diary of Anne Frank, the living conditions of the annex were revealed. With a small living space, the constant need to remain secretive, and the limited resources, the Franks and the Van Daans must have needed much cooperation in order to live in peace.
In the play is says. “I never thought i’d live to see the day when a man like Mr.Frank would have to go into hiding…” (Hackett pg. 110). This changes the mood in the secret annex because it took the hope that one day they may exit the annex and be free. The people living in the annex have nothing but dreams that in the future things will get better, and when this was said it made the characters realize the harsh sad reality that they live in. Even though they don’t fully understand the meaning of going into hiding yet, they do know that it’s going to be a rough and a suspense full time in the secret
Anne Frank was a 12 year old Jewish girl when she went into hiding. In 1942, Anne and her family moved to a secret annex behind a bookshelf in an office building. At that time, Hitler ruled Germany and wanted to extract the Jews and ship them to concentration camps. Here, they were forced into labor and then they were eventually murdered. In their two years of hiding, Anne showed many positive characteristics, despite the Jews going through such a harsh and deadly time. Sadly, Anne passed away at a concentration camp after two years of hiding on March 12th, 1945. However, her diary has inspired many people around the world. One of Anne's characteristics is optimism. She was always hopeful for the future and confident.
In the play, The Diary of Anne Frank By: Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett. During this time world war 2 was going on. Anne and Mrs. Frank have many differences as they have commonalities. In the following paragraphs will unfold the similarities and disparities between a mother and her daughter, examining their behavior, thoughts, and how they carry themselves.
comparison I can think of is when I moved to middle school. I was the
