In the Diary of Anne Frank, the two characters I chose to compare and contrast are Mrs. Frank and Mrs. Van Daan. These two ladies are similar and different in many ways. They are both middle aged women that live in Amsterdam. When the Holocaust began in 1939, Mrs. Frank and Mrs. Van Daan moved into the secret Annex with their families. Mrs. Frank and Mrs. Van Daan are more different than similar, but they did make it work somewhere while they were in hiding. They are both loving and caring mothers and wives. The two women cook, clean, and take care of everyone in the Annex. They are both married and have children. Also, Mrs. Frank and Mrs. Van Daan were both arrested by the on August 4, 1944 and deported to concentration camps. Mrs. Van Daan
Take Liesel Meminger and Anne Frank. They have a number of similarities. Both girls living in the same time period, their around the same age. But many differences also separate them. One is a Jew, while
The first way I think they are similar is they both have children. The Van Dann’s Child’s name is peter, which is a boy. The Frank’s children’s names are Margot Frank, and Anne Frank, who are both girls. The second way I find them similar is they are both protective of their children. The Franks told the Van Daan’s in the book they would rather starve than let their children be hungry. The Van Daan’s had many talks with their son, Peter of how to treat girls when he is dating them that is because he likes Anne Frank.
Jews have perished because of their beliefs since the beginning of time but never have so many Jews been persecuted worldwide as they were in World War II. Anne Frank’s diary reaches a place within all of our hearts because it reminds us how easily the innocents can suffer. Sometimes we may choose to close our eyes or look the other way when unjustifiable things happen in our society and Anne’s tale reminds us that ignorance, in part, claimed her life. Sadly, her story is but one of many of those who died in the Holocaust and as with other Jews, her fate was determined by the country she lived in, her sex and her age.
After seeing the film and reading the text I learned a lot of information on what a Jews life in hiding was like. Both impacted me deeply but seeing the film was more impactful for me. In the film you could see what their living situation was like so you could get a better understanding of what being in hiding was like, it might not have been a exact replica of what it really was like but you still got a good idea of it. Also you could see the characters feelings and emotions. This helped the viewers know what they were feeling in a certain moment in time. So while both were very interesting I was more in favor of the Film over the Text, it add more elements to the story for me.
“Think of all the beauty still left around you and be happy” -Anne Frank. Anne Frank was a Jewish girl who lived during the holocaust and hid with her family and others. She also managed to see the beauty in any situation no matter how tough or harsh. There is someone who shares many similar experiences and traits as Anne as well as being very different too. Her name is Jeanne Wakatsuki and she was a Japanese American during the encampment of the Japanese during WW2. Jeanne and Anne have similarities such as both being alive during WW2 but, they are different in the sense that Jeanne was in the USA and Anne was in Europe.
In conclusion, there are many similarities and differences to the movie and book we studied. There are many forms of The Diary of Anne Frank but all of them relate the her diary. Everyone that helped with the secret annex are very brave and courteous to everyone that was hiding there. In the end there are many people that did everything in their power to keep the secret annex from being found by the green police.
Anne Frank, the Frank Family, and the Van Daan Family surviving in the attic. They are assisted by
In the play “Anne Frank” they are located in Amsterdam July 6th 1942. They are in hiding in what is called the Annex during WWII. The people at the Annex are Anne Frank, Margot Frank, Mr.Frank and Mrs. Frank, Peter Van Daan, Mr. Van Daan, Mrs. Van Daan, and Mr Dussel, we know this because Mr. Frank gave Anne Frank a diary and she wrote in the diary a lot giving us this information. In times like this, you would need lots of Courage, Compassion, and Sacrifice to get through the tough times.
Now even though Anne Frank and Gerda Klein were different people and they had different personalities, their lives had things in common. For example, They were both taking to a concentration camp and they were both planning what they were going to do once they were saved. They both had high hopes for their future, like Anne wanted to be a great writer who would be remembered even after she died. Both of their friends either died or were killed at the concentration camp. They were both surviving on little or no food for years. Gerda was a human skeleton when she was found by the american soldiers. These were just a few of the major similarities that I found.
One thing they have in common is they are all where home schooled. They all believed in the star of David religion. They are all Jewish kids or teens living in the secret annex with other families. They all died differently. However, I think this is where the similarity between the three teenagers ends.
There was a time in the 1900’s when a thing called the Holocaust was taking place. The Holocaust was a dark time when Jews were being by the Nazis to concentration camps to be persecuted. Two of those Jews that were hiding during the time were Mr. Frank and Mr. Van Daan. You have probably heard of the two men from The Diary of Anne Frank, but you’ve probably never compared and contrasted them. Well you are about to find out the differences and similarities of Mr. Frank and Mr. Van Daan.
The Diary of a Young Girl by Anne Frank is organized in chronological order and include the dates important to the Jewish author. On Anne’s thirteenth birthday, she receives a diary she calls “Kitty,” and this is where she records events that happened to her. Anne includes writings about her brief normal life and the life in the “Secret Annex.” She and her family are hiding from the Gestapo during WWII. As the story progresses, more Jews join the Franks. There is great conflict between Anne and the rest of the residents, though sometimes her father is “darling.” After a little more than two years in hiding, the German police discovered the secret Jews and sent them into labor camps, where Otto Frank was the only survivor. Anne matures and finds Peter at her side, even though there is tension between the other Van Daans and herself. Not only is there conflict between Mrs. Van Daan, but with Anne’s own mother and her roommate, Mr. Dussel.
I’m comparing and contrasting Mr. Frank and Mr. Vandaan. Mr. Frank a jew that had to go in hiding because back then they took jews to death camps. Mr. Frank was a act of funny man ,an angry man, people didn’t call him Mr. frank all the time they call him Pim his nickname. Mr. Frank had a wife named Mrs. Frank her real name is Edith they have two girls named Anne Frank and Margot Frank. On the other hand Mr. Vandaan was staying with Mr. Frank and his wife and kids. Mr. Vandaan have a son named peter have a wife named Mrs. Vandaan. Most of the time they call Mr. Frank by his nickname putti. Both Mr. vandaan and Mr. Frank
Anne Frank’s diary is one of the most famous examples of how the Jews were treated during Hitler reign of terror and dictatorship. Plus on top of the Germans it did not make anything better with everyone teasing her and being mean and rude to her. The worst part is her mother to her did not even seem like a mother because of how mean she was verbally or in Anne’s mind anyway. It is also weird how she actually got along better with her father. In fact it seemed as if Anne and her mother played favorites. I am making this essay to show how she also had to struggle with her own parents and not only in camp. So with that being said I will show you how her different relationships with her parents improve or decrease while time goes by.
The Diary of Anne Frank gives a good example about how people from that time witnessed the things around them. Throughout the play, the characters are often experiencing new things in the world even though they are hiding in the attic. They face new challenges that also revolve around the changes in the world at that time. Anne and her family are often scared, worried, or sad in most of the story. The author uses these feeling to display what is going on in the outside world. For example, in one point of the story, there was a loud crash and the characters became worried that they have been caught by the green police. In another point in the play, Mrs. Van Daan becomes worried that the Frank family has been caught because they didn’t show up to the attic on time. In The Diary of Anne Frank, the author reflects on historical events by using the characters’ thoughts, actions, and
