Pol Pot and Mao Zedong committed horrendous acts of genocide. Both are leaders of their country and are merciless when it comes to gaining, and or controlling power. Pol Pot was a leader of the Khmer Rouge and committed the Cambodia genocide. Mao Zedong was the leader of China and he committed the Great Chinese Famine. Both countries were communist; Cambodia became a communist country after it was taken over by the Khmer Rouge. Both Pol Pot and Mao Zedong were fearless leaders who would give the order to commit violence.

In the Dynastic Cycle the Tang and Song Dynasties were very different although they had very close founding dates, one after the other, their period of decline/warfare were very different. First, the Tang dynasty was founded in the year 618 CE and ended in the year 907 CE. The Song was founded in about 960 CE right after the Tang ended. The Song Dynasty ended in 1279. Next, the Song and Tang Dynasties ended in very different ways. First, the way that the Song Dynasty ended was that they were attacked by the Khitans in the Northern part of the empire. They were very easy to attack because they believed in an educated person over a strong military. Then the rest of the Song dynasty was destroyed because of more attacks from invaders.

The majority of the book looks deep into Mao’s Cultural Revolution, the main focus was Mao’s campaign was created with the simple means to destroy China’s history of hopes of a free and pure culture that would separate itself from the old Chinese culture which existed before during 1949. Mao’s rise to power was as a result of favourable conditions resulting from both the failures of the Nationalist party (GMD) and the various successes of the Communist party (CCP). Before Mao was able to consolidate his power over China in 1949, he first had to become solitary leader of the CCP party; which he accomplished through his ideology, policies and leadership qualities.

The Tang and Song dynasties both have similarities and differences. The Tang dynasty of China lasted from 618-907 Common Error (CE). The resemblance of those story is a reason of the journey to get an existence. Both are escape from one place to another place to survive a worst trouble of themselves.
