"The Other Wes Moore: One Story, Two Fates," by Wes Moore himself is a story about two men who grew up with no knowledge that the other Wes Moore even existed. They each lived their lives to the best of their abilities while the tragic events in each pushed them in drastically different directions. Both Wes Moore, the author, and the other Wes Moore are similar and different in several ways. Wes Moore, the author, and the other Wes Moore have quite a lot in common. To begin with, these boys obviously share the same name. Their parents had no idea that the other family existed, therefore it was simply a coincidence that their parents gave them the same name. Wes Moore, the author, and the other Wes Moore are also quite alike in age. The boys were born within a year of one another oddly enough. Another similarity between the two Wes Moore's is that each of the boys went without a father for some time in their life. But, when his father fell ill and went to get treatment, he was misdiagnosed and doctors said he was fine and just needed rest. The doctors blamed his symptoms on stress and anxiety. However, that was not the case. Wes Moore's father suddenly died, which affected every person in the entire household, including young Wes. The death of his father caused them to move away from his childhood homa and into the Bronx with his grandparents. The other Wes Moore, in contrast, never had a father figure in his life. His father was an alcoholic tried only once to see his son. That one time, however, was during a drunken rampage. This man was unsuccessful as Wes' mother kept him safe and away from harm. Wes Moore, the author, had his father ripped away from him at a young age while the other Wes Moore was forced to grow up without a father in the picture his whole
