Have you ever been in a family feud ? In this essay I will compare and contrast a movie and a play about Romeo and Juliet. The topics to be discussed are character and figure of speech. Character are the people performing in books, movies, plays, and more. Figure of speech deals with metaphor, simile, hyperbole, imagery, and more.
First, in the play somebody named Romeo, fell in love in love with a girl named Juliet. Romeo and Juliet wanted to get married. But the marriage needed to be secret. So they did the wedding secretly behind the Capulet church. Then Juliet's parent didn't know about the marriage so they tried to get her married with Paris.
Additional, in the movie somebody named Juliet, was wondering in her party and then saw a boy through the glass of a fish tank. Then

And the other one is when Romeo said to Juliet that if we pray with our hands, why not with our lips too. It was because Romeo wanted to kiss Juliet.
Additionally, my differences is for character. In the play Mercutio uses a sword to fight Tybalt. In the movie Mercutio uses a gun to fight Tybalt. Also in the movie Mercutio was stabbed by Tybalt with a piece of glass. And in the play Mercutio was stabbed by Tybalt with a sword.
Furthermore, my differences for figure of speech is when Romeo said to Juliet in the play “your eyes shine like bright stars”. Also when Romeo says that he is referring that her eyes are beautiful. Romeo says that because he loves Juliet.then
To conclude, people just need to get along with their worst enemies. Next, if people fight they will receive consequences. Also this consequence could lead to deaths like Romeo and Juliets death. The play talks about death, but is still a great play. Some people don't like to read, but reading is imaginative. Reading gets people's brain active. Reading makes people’s motions active
In Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, impetuosity between Romeo and Juliet will ultimately be the cause of their deaths. The passion between the two caused them to rush into foolish adolescent events. Romeo's and Juliet's burning love is to blame for their fast yet fatal marriage. Shortly after the unpublished wedding it all goes down hill, Romeo kills Juliet's faithful cousin, Tybalt, in a brutal sword fight. With Romeo's action his punishment is exile from Verona, and to leave his unseen faithful wife.
In the drama, The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, there are several long speeches that show different types of figurative language and structure. One that is particularly intriguing is the speech Mercutio makes when trying to persuade Romeo to go to the Capulet party. In this speech Mercutio describes Queen Mab, who is a fairy like woman that controls dreams. She makes ladies dream of kisses, soldiers dream of the blood of enemies, and lawyers dream of money. Within this speech about Queen Mab, Shakespeare uses metaphorical language, imagery, specific tones, and structure to create an image for the audience and contribute to the larger plot of the play.
In this essay, I will be examining Shakespeare’s treatment of relationships in Romeo and Juliet. As a poet and playwright, he wrote 154 sonnets, 2 long narrative poems and 38 plays, one of his most famous plays being Romeo and Juliet. There are many different types of relationships between characters, and these are essential to the play. The prologue tells us that the play is about two star-crossed lovers from two feuding families, the Montagues and Capulets. There is hatred between these two families, this explains this, ‘Thou villain Capulet’. This quote suggests because of the hate between their families, the lovers are doomed from the start.
Dramatic irony is seen throughout the whole play many times, but one time stands out when the main character Romeo slays Tybalt, kinsmen to the Capulets (Juliet’s Family), out of sheer anger. Consequently, Romeo was banished. Said in the play by Paris, he stated, “Immoderately she weeps for Tybalt’s death, And therefore have I little talk of love”(Rom.IV.i.6/7). Paris thinks that Juliet weeps for Tybalt being slain, but instead is weeping for Romeo who was banished from Verona. Following the banishment incident, Juliet remained in a coma like death that she put herself into not marry Paris, but everyone thought of Juliet being dead, even Romeo. By her tomb, Romeo spoke, “Beauty’s ensign yet is crimson in thy lips and in thy cheeks”(Rom.V.iii.94/95). The coma was to end and she was to wake any minute that Romeo went to Juliet, nevertheless Romeo didn’t know of the potion that put her in the coma. Full of grief, Romeo proceeded to kill himself even though he noticed that Juliet looked well alive. Previously, when Romeo was banished and Juliet in the coma, many examples of repetition of epithets happened during those scenes.
In the play Romeo and Juliet, William Shakespeare develops Juliet Capulet as a religious and obedient young girl that flourishes into a confident and self-assured woman. In order to thoroughly portray her personality, Shakespeare uses literary elements such as shortened syntax as well as repetition and paradox throughout the play. To begin, Shakespeare’s use of shortened syntax illustrates Juliet as an obedient and holy individual. An example of this is shown when Shakespeare writes, “It’s an honor that I dream of not” (1.3.68). In comparison to the elongated speech of Lady Capulet, Juliet speaks in very short and straightforward sentences to signify her obedience towards her mother and her inferiority to her.
When Romeo first laid his eyes on Juliet, he instantly fell in love and his feelings began to pour out. The description of Juliet by Romeo continues, as he compares her to a beautiful dove and all the other ladies around her to awkward crows. Instantly, every women, including Rosaline, became irrelevant to Romeo. All he desired and all he could focus on at that moment was, Juliet, the woman he knew he was destined to marry. Romeo had been trapped in a deep depression a few hours before he laid his eyes on Juliet, Romeo's feelings drastically change once he sees Juliet which proves to be love at first sight. Romeos early display of affection presents him as a man who is in love with the idea of love, and in turn allows audiences to like for him, just as they imagine he would for them. Although Romeo's character was introduced a few scenes prior, he was depressed and not himself. So, the moment he met Juliet for the first time it was also the moment the audience met the real Romeo for the first time.
In Act 2 Scene 3 of Romeo and Juliet, Romeo goes to visit Friar Lawrence in his cell after meeting Juliet and falling madly in love with her. Romeo tells him about his love for Juliet and asks him to marry them. Friar Lawrence is shocked that Romeo has moved on so suddenly so he gives a dramatic speech to Romeo. Shakespeare uses meaningful images, melodic diction, and dramatic hyperboles to express the nature of love. In the following lines, Shakespeare illustrates how young and immature men are bound to fall in and out of love in an instant.
There are millions of different well-known plays around the world, some of these plays have been performed many times over and over again. Even though these plays are repeatedly performed, every time there is a difference, every time something has changed. Directors have this power and ability, to be able to change how a character looks, or the point of view, or even just the facial expressions of the character. All of these little differences affect the play and make it look brand new every single time. This will be shown through the comparison of two different Romeo and Juliet production of Act 2 Scene 2, the balcony scene. One of the productions is by Franco Zeffirelli and the other by Baz Luhrmann. In my opinion, the production that was the most
Romeo and Juliet and Cyrano de Bergerac both has the very famous balcony scene. Both men expressed their true feelings for their love. Cyrano expressed his love for Roxane when he said "I love. I'm stifled, I love you! I'm maddened" (act III). Roxane and Juliet both did not know that their lovers were waiting for them to come out from their balcony. Christian threw some pebbles at Roxane's window to get her attention. Roxane opened her window and asked, "who calls me" (act III). Romeo and Juliet and Cyrano de Bergerac both had a kissing scene on the balcony
During The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet written by William Shakespeare, Friar Lawrence uses emotion to persuade Romeo to reconsider his rash deed. The friar asks Romeo a rhetorical question to make Romeo doubt his manly hood. Near the end of his advice filled speech the friar uses alliteration to portray Romeo’s selfishness.
Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare is a play about death and tragedy. Throughout the book, many people have died or been killed. The majority of blame for the six deaths in Romeo and Juliet rests on Romeo. Romeo is responsible for the deaths because he is emotionally unstable, incapable of making rational decisions, and has terrible anger issues.
Shakespeare’s use of allusion during Romeo and Juliet allows the audience to comprehend the lover’s deep attraction for each other. For instance, the night Romeo first meets Juliet he becomes so attracted to her beauty that he follows her to her house. Juliet
In Romeo and Juliet Shakespeare uses oxymora to help describe complicated human emotions. People can have two opposing emotions such as love and hate. This is accuratly protrayed throughout the play but mostly with the character of Juliet. For example Juliet uses the oxymoron "fiend angelical" in her speech. This oxymoron means devil angle.
These quotes show how Romeo is feeling down . Romeo is not acting happy, loving and selfish like he normally does . This is affecting
Juliet was from the Capulet family. Juliet and Romeo was rivalries and they knew that about each other. There was Romeo secret he was a Montague and juliet was a Capulet. Juliet and Romeo had fell in love as soon as they danced with each other well not Romeo he fell in love with her as soon as he seen her. Juliet faked her death so she did not have to marry Paris.
