All the countries throughout the world have cities and they represent part of the population of that respective country. Many cities differ from each other such as the culture, size, religion, etc; but they also have similarities with each other. For example, they have similar weathers, same complexity in the urbanization, they are large, small, and the list keeps going. In the United States, one of the most important cities in it is Houston, a famous city recognized for being the house of many headquarters of petroleum. In the other hand, Peru’s capital is Lima; it is important because it houses many international and national organizations within the city. Although Houston and Lima are important cities in their respective countries, the lifestyle …show more content…
However the level of education of each city is different for many reasons. One example to differentiate the level of education In Houston and Lima, would be the age difference when students start to take Algebra classes. In Lima, students between ten and eleven years old start to learn Algebra and as the students move on from grade to grade, they are still taking Algebra classes, but with much detailed operations. In the other hand, in Houston a regular student would be taking Algebra classes between the ages of thirteen and fourteen. Also, the students in Houston just take the class for two years and that is all before they go to a college or university. There many other difference in the education of the students in each city, in one city the students in the schools learn` advanced things compare to the other city in a young age and they continue to advance to more complicated things through the years. In the other city, the students in the schools learn the same things as the students of the other city when they are older than the other …show more content…
In Houston, the houses are mainly made of wood, on the contrary, the houses in Lima are made of bricks and concrete because the atmosphere is more humid than in Houston. Another difference of the houses would be the roofs. In Houston the roofs are inclined and steep because it rains abundantly, in order to not flood the roof, the roofs have to be inclined for the purpose of not flood the house. In the other hand, the houses in Lima don’t need to be inclined because the rains are not abundantly, for this reason the roofs in Lima are open and flat. Lastly, in Houston the houses are apart from each other as a result that each house have a yard around them, unlike in Lima, the houses don’t have yards around them under those circumstances the houses are divided by a wall of concrete. Thereby the houses in each of these city have their difference because of all the factors mentioned
I found the Differences and similarities of both educational systems very interesting. The United States educational system is has three levels however; some school districts may subdivide elementary and secondary students to create separate schools at the middle and junior high level. Once a child turns five they begin kindergarten and stay in elementary until they graduate. From there they attend junior high, grades 5 through 8. All students enter into High School for grades 9-12 and if they are successful, they graduate with a high school diploma and enter the workforce or pursue higher education.
A poem written by South Carolina pastor, Jeremy Rutledge has given readers a lot to think about. The poem was composed after the great Hurricane Harvey tragedy in Houston. In his poem Rutledge mentions the word pray many times but the meaning of it goes way beyond that. When praying for something it is important to know the aspects and struggles of it, and that is exactly what Rutledge is doing in this poem, stating all the things that make Houston unique, diverse, and capable to rise from it all.
In this article the author explains how the schools are based on a class system and higher-class areas have better recourses and more classes offered. Higher-class societies have better equipment, new technology, modern facilities, better books, and better teachers. Not only are the school’s educational facilities better the extracurricular activities are also better. For example sports facilities, training facilities, band, art, all because these lower class schools cant afford what these lower class schools can. Students in lower end districts are actually ending up worse off then the higher end students. Meaning attrition rate, drop out rate, sat scores and much more.
If you ask a Houstonian about the music scene around town, you would get a pretty bleak answer. Many people seem to believe it starts and ends with Beyoncé. It is especially considered “nonexistent” in comparison to another city in Texas, Austin. Austin has this huge reputation of having a phenomenal music scene and it is even billed as “The Live Music Capital of the World.” Yes, Austin has great local bands and many avid music fans but so does Houston. Even though it’s not extremely renowned, Houston has one of the most influential and diverse music scenes in the country.
El Paso and London are very similar in that the cities don 't only offer housing at a very affordable rate, but also have created ways to employ its citizens. The similarities between the cities affordable homes is that both are using cheaper areas to reconstruct or build new homes. This causes cheaper rent and mortgages. A similar way the cities are creating jobs is through teaching skills. El Paso offers the Jobs Corps which provides a counselor to walk students through steps in getting a job. London also offers a mentor to help guide employees through the daily routines and requirements to get the job. The two similarities of the cities are just a few, but there are differences as well.
There are two cities that I found to have apparent differences from one another. Houston and Hong Kong come with various differences, and who could have known that Houston and Hong Kong have so many different features? Houston and Hong Kong are vastly different from each other when it comes to the three main features - education, transportation, and domestic life.
Hous·to·ni·an, a native resident of Houston, Texas. This term is popular in more states than Texas. There’s a saying that “Everything is bigger and better in Texas. Houston is the fourth largest city in America behind Nevada and ahead of New Mexico. Now that is big. People that are born in Texas are natives, and therefore Houstonian. There are several races that call Houston home like Hispanics, Asians, Blacks and Europeans. There is also a refugee population in Houston from places like Afghanistan, Iraq, and Somalia. However, any person that lives in the culture and experiences the culture to the extent that they consider themselves native can also be called a Houstonian. Houstonian is not a term. Houstonian is a way of life, a culture, and an identity.
There are also other factors that could explain the big differences between these cities. The ethnic and racial makeup of the people living there and their educational levels could be a big difference. To really explain the increase or decline in both these cities is difficult because the two areas that I choose are so very different in population is really the biggest difference.
For instance, Japan’s education system is extremely different from the education system in the United States. In the article “Japan Might Be What Equality in Education Looks Like” by Alana Semuels, she brings up the idea that Japan has poor neighborhoods, but does not have poor schools. Also, their teachers are distributed throughout the country for where they are needed most. Semuels writes in her article “Teachers in Japan are hired not by individual schools, but by prefectures, which are roughly analogous to states…. This means that the prefectural government can make sure the strongest teachers are assigned to the students and schools that need them the most” (Semuels).
The first pivotal concept between the two cities is on education. Education is key to moving up within the world. Being more educated in this life means that you gain status, and gain power. Education is a solution for many problems that may arise in the future and have a significant impact on various studies including incarceration rate. Nonetheless, the data found on the percentage of high school graduates between these two cities is very important
The public schools in the Northeast US received more funding than schools in the Northwest or in the South. This contrast was due to the differing amount of urbanization in the three regions, the Northeast being the most urban and the Northwest and South being more rural. The varying levels of city versus rural living created different political, economic, and social climates which contributed to the amount of public school funding.
In the city, public schools are often packed full of students resulting in larger class sizes and no real teacher student relationship. You would be lucky if your teacher could put a name to your face. Though, bigger schools in the city offer more courses for the student to take and also offer more extracurricular activities. Where in the country, public schools often do not have many students making class sizes significantly smaller resulting in a better teacher student relationship. Your teacher
In this group project, we discuss two cities – Houston and Dallas about their own background, which we called story and the comparison between them as well. Firstly, this paper will describe the Houston city’s history and background, by using the timeline, it is easy to consider the economy, politic, education and transportation for each of the city chronology. In this way, we can finally discuss the characteristic and opportunity for each of these two cities; thus, give them various suitable solutions for the future plan, which we called blue print, to help the city expansion.
When it comes to activities in the city life offers more opportunities for activities for instance the many movie theatres, concerts, professional sporting events, zoos, shopping malls, restaurants, museums and many more providing opportunities to take
Cities are places which have huge amount of gathering of people, collection of economic activities and complex infrastructure for people which all together are supported by transport systems.
