While remaining similar in the main plot points of the story, Tangled and “Rapunzel” take very different approaches in many of the story’s details and settings, as well as in the characterization. These differences drastically affect the tone and themes of the two stories. Howard and Greno’s Tangled focuses on a narrative of taking action when opportunity is offered to try to achieve what you want. Through the reoccurring acts of disobedience, the Grimm Brothers’ “Rapunzel” explicates a theme of the dangers of greed. As a result, Tangled tells a more hopeful story, while “Rapunzel” remains more
Looking at the surface of the films The Fox and the Hound and Monsters Inc, we probably would not see any similarities whatsoever. This is hardly the case once looking past the animated animals and monsters. The Fox and the Hound, which was released in 1981 by Disney, portrays a fox named Tod and a hound dog named Copper. Even though they grew up together, they are socially supposed to be enemies. They do overcome this stereotype at first as they become best friends and vow to forever. In the end of the film they stay friends, but end up living separate from each other. Each one living in the world that is socially acceptable to each animal. Similarity, Monster Inc., which was released in 2001 by Disney and
Watch the movie Tangled and you’ll find yourself hooked, desiring the knowledge of what’s next. While watching this movie, two main literary themes became apparent. Disney's Tangled is the story of a stolen girl trapped in a castle with her captor as a mother. Throughout the story, Rapunzel wants nothing more but to leave her . Tangled’s plot employs many gender stereotypes and shows a large socio-economic divide.
After this, the now old-and-ugly witch grows to love Rapunzel, but not enough to focus on nurturing her and her needs- she’s too focused on regaining her beauty and youth. She locks Rapunzel in a tower in an attempt to keep her safe from the dangers of the outside world, and fills Rapunzel 's head with terrifying, fanciful depictions of life outside the tower. Meanwhile, she begins searching for the cure to her curse.
Disney's “The Princess and The Frog” is based on the original story The Frog Prince written by the Grimm brothers in 1812. There have been many books and movies inspired by the original The Frog Prince, each being different in their own way. The name is a common difference between the original and newer versions of the story, usually modern versions are named “The Princess and The Frog” like Disney's adaptation. Even though Disney's "The Princess and The Frog" and the original The Frog Prince are the same story, they have notable differences and very few similarities; the setting, her status, the story line, and the moral.
When C.S. Lewis wrote The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, he intended for Aslan to represent Jesus. Throughout the book, Aslan goes through many of the same things Jesus went through. For instance, Aslan represents Jesus by how he goes through the crucifixion as Jesus did. Also, Aslan was resurrected from the grave after his death just as Jesus was. Aslan’s personality, emotions, and traits all represent Jesus. Aslan brings the statues life when they were trapped in nothing, just as Jesus brings salvation to those who are trapped by the weight of sin. Aslan’s name brings joy and fear, and his presence is intimidating and happy at the same time, just as Jesus was with the people around him. Both in the book and the movie, Aslan also gave his life for Edmund, and went through a

Rapunzel, written by The Grimm Brothers, is a peculiar tale about a traded princess locked in a tower by her wicked guardian, enchantress. One day a curious prince comes across a tower and finds Rapunzel ,but is later punished for his inquisitive decision by enchantress, she takes away his sight. They later meet again and Rapunzel's tear heals the prince ,and they go back to the kingdom where all is well. As the story meets time more authors remake Rapunzel into a less gruesome tale ,but as for the Grimm Brothers their intentions are to scare children. This tactic is originally used by French and Italian authors of Rapunzel during the 17th century, but the Grimm brothers wanted to bring this idea to their homeland, Germany. “The Grimms, along
Macbeth the movie and Lion King are very different, but very similar. One is a cartoon animation movie by Disney and the other is a play written by William Shakespeare that was later produced into a movie by Ian McKellan. Both movies have a tradegy, but also have a small heros journey and I will show the comparsion between them both.
The fact that he is first drawn to her voice rather than her appearance seems to suggest an attraction more to who she is rather than anything physical. Her “voice” may be symbolic of Rapunzel’s thoughts and personality. However, the first time the prince finds Rapunzel, he is obviously unprepared to proceed into this facet of his life. He searches for a door through which to reach her but is
Wilhelm and Jacob Grimm also known as the Grimm brothers are historically known for their uniqueness both in their styles of writing and the exceptional illustrations of their works. Their age old literature has been told and retold with the essence of gothic architecture and contemporary children's stories for decades now. This essay will contrast the Grimm brothers story of Rapunzel and Disney's story of Rapunzel, it will also include comparing their illustrations with Molly Bang's theory.
Although many view children's fiction as suitable only to children, and an embarrassingly immature pursuit for a serious person, children' stories mold the way we think. They allows us to look at very complex and difficult issues in a safe and playful way, and they give us the freedom to imagine the unimaginable.
Rapunzel grew up pretty normal, as normal as as you could for being locked away from the outside world. Never being allowed to step a foot outside, let alone being allowed to venture down to the hospital mother Gothel worked at. All the young girl knew as the apartment she shared with Mother Gothel. She familiarized herself rather quickly with the layout of the apartment when she got old enough to be left alone. Learning every nook and cranny of the place, the only thing she couldn’t figure out was how to escape the locked door and make her way down to the hospital to see her mother.
Disney movies are often idolized for creating empowering princess’s to give little girls hope and to allow to believe in their dreams, but Disney's movie Tangled they show a different kind of Princess.
