Both poems say that you should make the best out of life, but each poem has a different reason. “Loveliest of Trees, the Cherry Now” says people need to live to the fullest and enjoy every moment, because they won’t get a second chance. “Spring and All” says that everyone was born with an equal chance, so they should make the best of it. Another difference between the two poems is “Loveliest of Trees, the Cherry Now” was written during the Romantic period, while Spring and All” was written during the Modern
A voice of protest is important as it brings out a voice for the voiceless. This is evident in the quote “Never be afraid to raise your voice for honesty, truth and compassion against injustice, lying and greed. If people all over the world...would do this, it would change the earth” and in the poems ‘My Country’ by Dorothea Mackellar and ‘The New True Anthem’ by Kevin Gilbert. They show a voice of protest through the use of poetic techniques which show the importance of a voice of protest.
In our small groups, we read 2 poems, named To James and Mother to Son. These two poems analyzed the fact that life won’t always be pure, but instead may be vigorous and tough. In line 2 of Mother to Son, it said, “Life for me ain’t been no crystal stair.” This deepened our understanding of how some people’s lives aren’t the same and just how challenging it can truly be. As for lines 15 and 16, it stated, “Don’t you set down on the steps, cause you finds it’s kinder hard.” This assisted us in understanding that sometimes when people try to turn back, they find it’s ‘kinder hard.’ For part 5 where the passage talks about the stairs having “Tacks in it in what, and splinters. And boards torn up, and places with no carpet at
The poems “A Blessing” by James Wright and “Predators” by Linda Hogan share many similarities and differences on how people and animals are presented. These poems have many different similarities and differences that you may not know about.
When humans and nature come together, they either coexist harmoniously because nature's inhabitants and humans share a mutual respect and understanding for each other, or they clash because humans attempt to control and force their ways of life on nature. The poems, "The Bull Moose" by Alden Nowlan, "The Panther" by Rainer Maria Rilke, "Walking the Dog" by Howard Nemerov, and "The Fish" by Elizabeth Bishop, describe what happens when humans and nature come together. I believe that when humans and nature come together they either clash and conflict because individuals destroy and attempt to control nature, which is a reflection of their powerful need to control themselves, or humans live peacefully with nature because not only do they

Various speakers reflecting on the same topic provide a change in perspective, and give different levels of insight to the audience. This can be represented when comparing the poems “The Ball” and “We Real Cool”. The Ball, told in a perspective of a matured man contemplating his journey, brings a more reflective approach to coming of age than the speaker in “We Real Cool”, who speak about the subject in the present tense. Additionally, the speaker in “The Ball” is singular while the speaker in “We Real Cool” is clearly a group. This difference conveys a separation between a specific experience and a collective opinion. These varying speakers present two different avenues for analyzing the experience of coming of age.
Two Poems One Style Some poems can be completely different in the message that they convey, but still have similar literary characteristics because the authors share writing techniques. On one hand the poem “You Should Date an Illiterate Guy” by Jason Pinter is about a girl who chooses to date an illiterate guy. In the poem“What Work Is” by Philip Levine someone is waiting in line to try to get a job. It is important to know that both authors created a connotative meaning behind the literal meaning. They are not just talking about dating or about working.
The song and poem each have developed themes that are very similar to each other. The theme in Roberts Frost poem is don’t get distracted by anything and keep on going. The techniques used to help are repetition and sensory language. What Roberts repetition in the poem is “And miles to go before i sleep” in lines sixteen and seventeen. Roberts sensory language is “His house is in the village though” in line two. The theme in the song that Tim McGraw wrote is have fun in life and make every second count. To help this theme become developed he used techniques such as: repetition, symbolism, and sensory language. The repetition in McGraw's song is “Live like you were dying”. What he symbols in this song is “And all of a sudden going fishin’
A respected American poet, William Stafford, is known for poems set outdoors on mountainsides, roadsides or near rivers. In Stafford’s, “Traveling Through the Dark”, the setting is a rural road at nighttime in which the narrator describes finding a dead deer on the road. Stafford describes the speaker’s difficulty in deciding how to proceed after finding the deer and eventually tells us that the deer is pushed into the river. W.D.Snodgrass takes Stafford’s poem and decomposes it into “Driving Late at Night”. Like Stafford’s poem, Snodgrass sets the action of his poem at night and similarly has the narrator finding a dead animal on the road. In Snodgrass’s version the animal is also moved, however, it is thrown over a cliff rather than being pushed into the river.
Welsh Poetry Comparison and Analysis This essay will consider two poems, both written by Welsh authors. The first poem to be discussed will be Dylan Thomas' Do Not Go Gentle into That Good Night. Following this, the emphasis will progress to Owen Sheers' poem, When You Died, where ongoing comparisons between the two poems will be made.
Each poem and chapters contain several things that have different points of views. In poem XX, a good and bad action is mentioned, asking what is good and what is considered bad. Although most people know the difference between good and bad, many focus on the bible’s assumption of good and evil and right or wrong due to the ten simple commandments that God gave. God stated that He was a jealous God and that no other gods should be put before Him and that the people had to obey his commandments in order to enter His kingdom.
The two poems are detailed in full below, for a proper insight and understanding, and then the interpretations, argumentative, persuasive and coherent observations and examples follows in the analyses in these two beautiful poems.
