“Catch the Moon,” by Judith Ortiz Cofer, and “The Bass, the River and Sheila Mant,” by W.D. Wetherell develop the ideas of being lost and found in love. Cofer discusses the topic of finding one’s way with the help of love, while Wetherell discusses losing oneself in love. Love is described as a “quality or feeling.” In the two stories, love is much more than that. It is what forces the two characters, Luis and the narrator, to make important decisions and come upon realizations. Sometimes, life trips people up, and it takes something huge for them to change.
