Over the past few years I have watched my family get many concussions and I always wondered how that really affects your brainOver the past few years I have watched my family get many concussions and I have always wondered how that really affects your brain. I don't know too much about concussions but I know that they are small brain injuries that gives you headaches. give you headaches.I really don't know that much about them but I know enough to say that concussions can really hurt you. I wanted to learn about how concussions can affect you later on in life and what kind of things concussions can do damage your health.

Yes, the answer to this is very easy the most common diseases to get after several hit to head are many one that involve cognitive skills, which is everyday things like cooking, driving and this sometimes can affect your speech. These diseases that include hurting your cognitive skill are the ones that are most commonly connected to memory loss. I know I have all really talked about Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease, these are the most common things that are developed by old footballers and athletes “ Athletes who return to the sport to quickly following a concussion and subsequently suffer another one are at an extremely high risk of serious brain damage”(Cerebrum Medical 2 ) when they talk about brain damage they are meaning that the brain is having a harder time doing normal thing and could soon lose certain skills. Which the same skills are lost or damaged to develop Parkinson's and Alzheimer's. “ Further tests revealed that the older athletes who had suffered from concussions, had experienced a thinning of the cortex in the same part of the brain that Alzheimer's affects” ( Cerebrum 1) This study that was just talked about in this article showed that ⅚ people had memory loss from having more than one concussion in the past for …show more content…

PCS can cause daily migraines, trouble sleeping, memory loss, motion sickness, nausea and irritability. These symptoms can last up to 25 years and cause more problems like Parkinson's disease and Huntington’s disease. “the rates of PCS vary, but most studies report that about 15% of individuals with history of a single concussion develop persistent symptoms associated with the injury.”(Miller 1) so with that said about 15% with single concussions, what about people with more than one concussion. This brings up one question again do people really care about the effects or long term health consequences, I already talked about earlier most football player will experienced more than one concussion in their career.
