Executive Summary
Contact lenses have come a long way from an uncomfortable hard to use

A brief description of each type is given below:
Hard Contact Lenses
The first kind of contact lenses were hard contact and were composed of plastics called PMMA. They are not much in use today though they have several advantages. They can be inserted in the eye with ease and taken out without much problem. Some of the other advantages associated with hard contact lenses are ease of maintenance, less chance of getting contaminated, less expensive compared to the soft contact lens and chances of improvement of general eyesight for some people.
Gas Permeable Contact Lenses
The problem of non permeability of oxygen with contact lenses were solved in the start of 80’s by the introduction of a range of oxygen permeable, but rigid, contact lenses. These gas permeable lenses were known together as RGP lenses. These lenses are known as rigid lenses and are easier to maintain and to care for than soft lenses. Also gas permeable lenses can correct many vision problems.
Soft Contact Lenses
Hard lenses remained uncomfortable for many people despite continual improvements. Then came a contact lens made with a soft water absorbing plastic in 1951. Contact lenses using these materials were approved by the U.S. FDA by 1971 and marketed by Bausch & Lomb. The main advantage of soft lens was that it didn’t cause any initial discomfort like the RGP. Soft lenses are ideal type for sportsmen as their
Soft lenses are useful during the early stages and can be worn simultaneously with glasses.6 They are indicated for patients who have high myopia and are intolerant to rigid gas permeable lenses (RGP).6 RGP lenses lie on the apex of the cone so they must have peripheral curves.6 These lenses can be used in the early stages but are difficult to fit during the advanced
How do you make an informed choice? By knowing exactly how you will use your prescription glasses and then picking the lens material with the properties that make the best match. Are the glasses intended for mostly indoor or outdoor use? Is the user an adult or a child? How meticulous is the user about taking good care of her or his prescription glasses? By answering these types of
A. Scleral lens is covered for patients whose vision is impaired by damage to their corneas and who cannot be fitted with conventional rigid contact lenses for which scleral contact lens is their only option for recovering functional vision for the following conditions:
Paris optician, Edouard Kalt created and fitted the first glass contact lenses to correct vision
contact lens have risk of eye infection that are caused by herpes, bacteria, and fun gus. In addition, symptoms of eye infection has include blurry vision, unusual redness of eyes, painful of eyes and tearing of eyes, so it causes loss of vision to blindness. Thus, some people have symptoms of eye infection who people must have to meeting
Your eyes change and prescription safety glasses are expensive so start with a current prescription. If you haven't had your eyes checked in the past two years, now is a good time to do so. It is even more important to have the clearest vision possible when you are working in an environment that is dangerous
The Crizal lens gives eye glass wearers protection from blue light. This safeguard placed in eyewear and is important for eye safety from retinal disease. The need for crizal lens is related to the person’s chance of getting eye disease.
I have had glasses for all my life, I don't think my eyes were ever perfect. My mom and I have the worst eyesight ever. I have astigmatism in both eyes and I have both near and far sighted in my eyes. Everyone in my family wears glasses so I guess it was inevitable for me
Prescription safety glasses are a shield that protect your eyes from hazardous work and home environments. The most common hazard is flying projectiles from operating power tools or machinery. Others include harmful dust, splashing chemicals, laser light, and radiation. However, a poor fit compromises your eye safety in a number of ways. These include:
Sof-Optics is a small (specialty-niche) player in a $155M contact-lens market. (Three competitors occupy 75% of this market (Bausch + Lomb (51%), American Optical (14%), Continuous Curve (10%); approximately twenty players (including Sof-Optics’ ~3%) occupy the remaining 25%.) This consumer space is already appreciable in size (~5M contact-lens wearers in 1980), and promises exponential growth in future years (only 10% of ~50M prospective lens-wearers in America have even tried soft contact lenses).
Recommendation Statement “glaucoma affects approximately 2.5 million Americans and is a leading cause of impaired vision (loss of peripheral vision) and blindness” (Moyer). Glaucoma is a disease the damages the optic nerve in the eye. There are several different types of glaucoma including: Open-angle, normal-tension, closed-angle, and congenital glaucoma. Open-angle is the most common. Even though there is no treatment yet for glaucoma, a person can manage it. To help a person mange this disease there are two basic treatments that can be used: medicated eye drops or surgery.
Glaucoma is a disease that damages the optic nerve because of extra fluid increasing pressure in the eye (Boyd). It is also the leading cause of blindness if left untreated in people over sixty Boyd states. Varieties of options are available for treatment regarding glaucoma and all are intended to lower the blood pressure and protect optic nerve (Radhakrishan and Iwach). Glaucoma can be treated with eye drops, pills, and surgery or a combination of these methods. (“Treating Glaucoma”). Right now eye drops are the first choice of treatment because they lower eye pressure, helping fluid drain better or decreasing fluid made by the eye (Radhakrishan and Iwach). As is states in the article “Treating Glaucoma” when eye drops cannot control the glaucoma,
The accomodation property of the crystalline lens is closedly related to its water content. Changes in the level of water content may alter the lens radius of curvature and the refractive index of the lens, leading to optical changes that produce a hyperopic or muopic shit. If the water content increases, lenses would become softer and more easily deformed.
Results: The study included 40 eyes of 21 patients. All patients completed at least 6 months
Relevance to the Audience: In a survey conducted by N3L optics, a sports performance sunglass retailer, “85 percent of Americans recognize the need for eye protection”. Many of you probably own a pair of sunglasses.
