Continuing my job search in my current state would rank among the worst decisions I could make today. Looking for work has been tiresome and fruitless enough without the ache of last night’s bad judgment pounding in my head like racehorses at the Kentucky Derby. I force myself out of bed, take a blazing hot shower, and put on an oversized SFSU sweatshirt. I have just enough energy left to flop onto the couch, cuddling a fuzzy blanket from the hall closet. After maybe a couple of hours, my rumbling stomach awakens me. I trudge to the kitchen and find two aspirin and a Saran-wrapped sandwich on the counter. A note from Kay reads, “Didn’t want to wake you up, but this should help.” I wolf the sandwich down and write Kay a thank-you note, in …show more content…
Despite the lingering traces of a headache, it’s a relief to know not much time has passed since I downed all those gingersnap shots I regretted this morning. I can’t say I fault Eva’s taste in men. I am, however, now extremely aware of the fact that I’m not wearing pants. “I’m not Kay, I’m Chloe.” I try to sound indifferent as I open the door and sit back on the couch, which squeaks against my legs. I play it off with a grin. “Eva’s due home any minute, so feel free to wait up.” It wouldn’t hurt if I get to stare at this guy for a little while longer, before Eva sinks her purple claws into him again. He remains standing in the door frame, avoiding my eyes. “Eva only mentioned the one roommate.” “Funny how she forgets I paid as much rent as she did this month,” I mutter. The guy’s face screws up with confusion. “I’m still more of a house guest. I just moved in, but I might have to find another place if I can’t get a job in the next couple of weeks. Or maybe live in my car.” “Oh.” The corners of his mouth turn down slightly. “Is that why you’re sleeping on the couch?” “Nah.” I wave a hand. “You can blame last night for that. Billy Edwards knows how to party, doesn’t he?” “You were at Billy’s party? Why didn’t I see you?” “I was on the roof most of the time. I only saw you when I came in for more shots. You were pretty preoccupied by then.” “Oh. Right.” His cheeks pinken as he steps into the room. I have a fleeting
“-but the one most responsive to change.” She smiles her approval and it feels as if I’m back in school. Her eyes are carefully scanning my face as she says her next words. “What do you think happened when we moved into
“What is he doing here?” She says angrily. “Didn’t you know not to see him anymore after our incident the other day?”
“I guess we will need a bed,” she commented “we can 't expect anything from her.” She mumbled under her breath.
“I don’t know. Tabitha took off with him a few hours before you guys showed up.”
"Right. I forgot that fast." I roll my eyes and unlock the door for her. She climbs in.
" Well, when we were at the E.R you started attacking the doctors so the tried to put you to sleep. But you didn't seem to be affected by the medicine," she
Lux stands there motionless. Mallory and Anastasia run over embracing her. Walking her over to the couch to sit down.
Lena feels the bed dip and she looks up. Kara’s kind eyes are crinkled with a sympathetic smile.
“No, of course not. I told you like two weeks ago that I had a doctors appointment at 7 so I would be busy tonight.”
"Wha,"He then hopped out of bed before I could read his face. "Of course you are. Let's go see what's downstairs."
“You’re sharing. As in sharing Eric’s room with him. I’m not going to repeat it again just because I already did.”
Eugene rose to his feet. “Sure they're over there. We've been watching both the front and the back of her place since before the sun came up.”
"Ah just the young lady I wanted to see. Why don't you open your door and we can talk about your rent problem again!"
“No Ella, actually, I wasn’t. I had no plans of working around dead people at all and…”
Liz: Why do you think I need to see the nurse, I’m fine, I’ve just been getting migraines from studying for all these tests, it’s not my fault if I fall asleep from resting.
