“So my report card isn't all rainbows and A’s,” she argued, “but at least I bring some interest in this house. Don't get me wrong… I love my twin sister… but she is just so arrogant. She did with her arms crossed and her lips pursed… just like she always did. She was wearing a pink leather jacket, a plain black T-shirt, and a pair of skinny jeans with holes cut into them. Basically she was wearing something an arrogant person would wear. According to her she was always right. She didn't used to be like that… until we met Valory Williams. That was Casey's best friend. She was a classic mean girl. The kind that can't go anywhere without the perfect shade of lipstick on. The kind that doesn't wear anything except for mini skirts. And
Films are a large part of our lives here in America where we depend on them to do when we’re bored with nothing to do, or when the snow or rain is falling. We all use movies as a common way to go on dates and be with friends. However, there has become an abundance amount of movies that we can all enjoy throughout our lives. Although not all movies are interesting to all viewers depending on their personality and what they like to watch. I can say for myself that a film that I really enjoy would be “Mean Girls”. In the two thousand four film “Mean Girls” there is a sense of entertainment that helps in combining all the aspects found in a classical film. Classical films having a entertaining and dramatic plot, and a excellent cast.
Sunshine was pouring out from in between the buildings, casting shadows all around Ponyboy and the gang as they walked to Pony’s school. They were taking their time walking down the streets and for the first time they all were really seeing what was all around them. Memories were surfacing in their minds showing them what it all meant to them. With every step they took on the sidewalk they remembered a different memory as if they were walking down memory lane. Ponyboy didn’t think it was possible for him to be walking down this street for the last time as a high school student, but he had gone through the years with great grades that earned him many scholarships.
I comfortably drive my car into the desolate street, Perusing the deserted buildings, Smashes windows and rusted For Sale signs. The car locked up like Fort Knox. I observe the street for trouble. Two young boys look at me from afar as if I'm an alien. Do I stand out that much same greasy hair, expensive clothes, a smart car I suppose I am out of my comfort zone? “Mister, you don’t belong here” his hand gripped his switch. “Pony.... Ponyboy Curtis” I stammer “I live here or at least I did, I'm here to see two-bit’ The Boys turn around “geez his old now” the boy's chirp. The boys stroll away in awe that they saw the great Ponyboy.
An hour later, Sarah joined Painted Girl in the kitchen. Sarah’s suitcases towered over Painted Girl’s, ready to be loaded into the car.
Tizio brought Painted Girl home after a long day of work. There was an odd car in the driveway. Painted Girl got out of Tizio’s truck and waved goodbye to him. She made her way up the walkway, pausing to look at the plain stoop. Beige siding, railing and door, the only color change was from the off-white concrete. She made mental plans for the entrance but wondered about the spiffy new Land Rover in the drive. She sighed. She hoped that Sarah had followed the plans for the house. It was written down in clear English, all she had to do was follow directions. She continued to hesitate worried that the house would be chaotic. She wanted to be home for Christmas. She reached for the door handle but it was jerked out of her hands and she
The raspy wind rises in swirls, encircling the entirety of my lean body. The parched, coarse sand scrapes across my angular face, burying and scraping itself into the warmth of fresh, open wounds. The sun scorches my skin raw, condemning the violence, the blood, and the screams that seem to echo all throughout the lifeless mountain side. Welcome to Afghanistan. Bitter laughter fills my head.
“Mr. Josten, Mr. Josten!” yelled one of the eighth graders from my current math class in Crescent Middle School. I figured it would be another out of context question, as that was the norm for Andrew. Andrew had always seemed to be the one who tried his hardest, but could not focus on his schoolwork, or anything for that matter. I acknowledged his raised hand to hear, “what would happen if someone figured out how to pass things through time?” I figured since there was a small amount of time left in the class period, I could answer his question thoroughly since I majored in both math and science. “Well Andrew, if I had to guess I would say that someone would receive that object unexpectedly in a different time period. However, if someone creates
The one place that everyone thinks is their own personal hell, theirs plenty of reasons though. It could be that you don't want to spend your day learning, you hate your teacher- especially Mr. Harris-, you have no friends, or the most famous one is that you have bullies. Bullies from the popular group like Lydia, who would bully you mentally by criticizing your outfit. Or Jackson; who would, other than pushing you against the locker, mentally bully you by saying your weak, you can't play lacrosse, or by making you think your poor by boasting about his new silver Porsche that he got from his rich adoptive parents. Then, last but not least we have
Long long ago in a house, where rumors were heard of a demon killing innocent souls there lived a man named Matthew. Matthew was a single man but, he had the biggest crush on a girl named Leanna. She never really paid any attention to matthew due to the fact he lived in a dark house up on wurdack hill. It was a creepy castle that was built there long ago. Leanna was a girl who never really was a fan of scary things. Infact every time she would walk past there was a beep in her left ear for some reason. She
About thirteen years ago I went to a video store to rent a Mean Girls DVD since there are no movie theaters in Saudi Arabia. I was so excited to get the film, and see if I find other new “cool” titles I would enjoy. A man in his thirties approached me, and rambled with few words, I could not understand at first, then I realized that he wants me to leave the store. Outside he pointed at a sign, the sign read: “women are not allowed inside”. American films were my only source of entertainment, though I did not think that was ok, I wanted to watch Mean Girls so bad, that I decided to stand outside, on the street, waiting for the man to “take my order”. Yes, I never set a foot in that store after that day, but to be honest, I was too cool back then to be hurt by what I have thought that he was “only” stupid grown up man, who for some reason thought it was absolutely normal to ask the only customer he has in the store to leave.
Too big. Too small. Too fat. Too tall. Us girls all over the world are driven to believe that our body shapes are "wrong," or "unpleasant," just because we weren't born to look like the girls that we see in the magazines nor were we born to live up to society's nearly impossible standards. Mean Girls - the movie that describes our society perfectly. Although the video above may seem overemphasized, this scene within the movie is almost an exact representation of how many girls portray themselves these days because of the unrealistic standards they have "failed" to meet. It is almost as if hating ourselves has become the norm in our society. Oh wait... it has. According to the Canadian Women's Organization, "One-in-five Canadians (21 per
Surprisingly, I am one of the few teenagers who has not seen the movie Mean Girls. Some may consider it a classic humorous movie. To me, it’s was just another funny chick flick.
“Mean Girls” is about a 16 year-old girl named Cady Heron. She was homeschooled by her zoologist parents in Africa. After a 12-year research trip in Africa, Cady and her family moved to the United States and settled in Evanston, Illinois. Here Cady attended public school for the first time ever. Cady’s first day of high school was not what she expected, she did not find any friends and the people at the school were unwelcoming. On her second day of school two classmates, Janis and Damian, took her under their wing to guide her how the high school worked. Both Janis and Damian warn her about ‘The Plastics’ who were the most exclusive clique in their high school. The Plastics consisted of their queen bee Regina George, the insecure rich girl Gretchen Wieners and sweet but ditzy Karen Smith. The Plastics seemed to take interest of Cady and make the decision to invite her to eat lunch with them. Now that Cady was becoming one of The Plastics, Janis creates a plan to get revenge on Regina, using her as the spy.
Duke had had a few women back in the East; a couple of them serious girlfriends, but mostly just flings, or a floozy who could provide him with somewhere to live. The thief was a man who hated commitment, whether it was to a woman, or a lease on his own apartment, and if he could take advantage of someone else's hospitality, he would. It wasn't as if any of the women actually cared much about his infidelities; with the exception of Amy, his second before last, who was still probably hunting for him with a kitchen knife in hand. Cheating and lying was a way of life back home, and the girls were nothing but a little fun who'd used him for his contacts, and took advantage of his generosity, as much as he did they for their bodies and appearance. And that's pretty much all they possessed; good looks. Each had been
