The day started like any other, Jimmy woke up to his lonesome apartment. Jimmy got out of bed and got ready for the day. As Jimmy walked outside, he heard arguing coming from the alley, so he went to investigate. When he reached the alley he saw an old homeless man being robbed by a bunch of thugs. Jimmy stepped into action. He yelled “Stop, be... before I call the police!”. One thug rushed Jimmy and punched him in the stomach and then the rest of the thugs jumped in on the beating. When they were done they spit on Jimmy and then left telling him, “ mind your own business kid.”. The old homeless man came up to Jimmy and helped him up, “Thanks kid, but I was fine, I had them. I would like to repay you, let me see what I got.”.He digs around …show more content…
Jimmy continued his walk, while walking he bumped into his adult friend Clark who was a police officer. Clark saw how Jimmy looked upset so he offered Jimmy to go to lunch with him. “Sp what happened?” Clark asked. “Nothing, just me putting my nose where it didn’t belong”. “Well I believe you did the right thing because, you're a good kid Jimmy.” “It doesn’t matter, I was good when my parents got taken from me, and I was good with my foster family but yet, nothing turns out good for me.”. Jimmy left the diner and started walking again. As he was walking he saw a car be lifted into the air by some man, all of sudden the car was thrown at him. Quickly he ran. The man screamed, “ Where are you going boy, the wizard can’t protect you here!”. Jimmy ran down into the subway. He kept running until he ran into the gate. He was trapped and even worse he could hear the man coming …show more content…
“What gift?” Jimmy asked. “The power to make a difference.” the ominous voice said. Jimmy walked closer to the voice until he saw a man. He was old, with a long white beard and a long blue robe. The man spoke, “ Hello, I am the wizard Shazam, and I have chosen you to be our hero.”. “ Well, what could I do, i’m just a kid?”. “Jimmy, throughout all the hardships you've gone through, you have always protected your perfect heart, you have shown more strength and bravery than anyone i’ve ever known.”. “So whenever you are in danger, just call for me and I will lend you my power, now I must go and you must as well.”. Then he disappeared in a flash of blue lightning that blinded Jimmy. The next thing Jimmy knew he was walking up in his apartment. He walked outside and into the alley, as he was turning around the corner he bumped into the thugs from yesterday. “What you doing kid, looking for another beating, well I think I can help you with that.” the thug said. Jimmy didn’t know what to say, the only word ...that came to mind was, “Shazam!”. A streak of lightning shot down and hit Jimmy. When the smoke cleared Jimmy no longer a boy, he was a full grown
The forest had gone.... and the Witch looked much younger. Audette opened her eyes and had found herself upon a brow of white lilies. The shape of the shrouded old woman seemed changed. Having turned around, and opened her mantle to the tearing gusts, Meliza revealed to the young lady two streams of shinging blackness and smooth white flesh. Audette stopped in her tracks.
I walk along the bumpy sidewalk as I begin the daily search for food. This morning, like all others I can remember, I woke to darkness, crawled from the hill, and made the usual trek to this harsh, gray strip. Everyday, I have to forage for food for the colony. I don’t complain, though. Life could be worse. One day, I was scavenging by a red flower bush when a terrible shadow came over me and a massive, white object came down and crushed two legs of one of my co-workers. The white object continued down the sidewalk, alternating with another. They were attached to the bottom of one of the tan beasts we call “hoarders”. I had to help my co-worker back to the hill and then we had to sleep on empty stomachs as punishment for not bringing food.
help but wonder why he is on house arrest. I don’t think much about it, he probably did something harmless, like lighting up in a park. He feeds my dog and waves to me when I get home everyday, but I’m not gonna lie, I do keep my space. Today is different though, I had a really great day, and already in a friendly mood, so when I got home and I saw Mr.Flufferson with him in his front steps I didn’t hesitate to come and grab him. “Hi” “hey” I said. “He was pretty hungry” “thanks for feeding him” I said. It’s nice to see him engaging with me, I love interacting with my neighbors. He asked me to come in for tea, and I mean why not. His house is quaint. It doesn’t look like he’s hosted anyone in years.
There’s no need for a rubbish introduction to start with. I hate my bus, full stop. No strings attached. To be totally honest, there are no positives at all in this presentation. So if you are one of those people who think that there is a good in everything, I suggest that you stop reading this and continue with your life. Goodbye!
Once upon a time there was a wizard that disguised himself as a homeless man. After he disguised himself, he would beg from house to house, and lied to each house saying that he needed money or food. Inside every house he went to there was beautiful girls. He would capture every single one of the girls, and take them away somewhere that no one knew, even none of the girls ever returned. One day, he came to the door of the man who everyone knew had three gorgeous daughters. Before he went to knock on the door, he made sure he looked truly poor, weaker, and he also carried magical pack basket on his back as it looked like he wanted to collect some kindhearted offerings in it.
“I don’t think you want to hear what I have to say about the way you treat me, now go home and look after your daughter, she needs you,” Silvia demanded, shrugging Walker’s arm off of her body.
It was a bright and sunny day in Downtown Iowa City. I limped my sore, broken down body between the alleys, craving the shade of buildings to get some time out of the beating hot sun. I can sense the wondering eyes of many people immediately lock into mine as I walk onto the busy sidewalk. I get paranoid and overwhelmed thinking of everything people could potentially be thinking about me. I have never been the type to care of what others think of me. That is only until I made my ways to becoming homeless. ¨You are just a druggie who can’t keep a job,¨ many have shouted at me. Funny thing is they don’t know is why I am even here in the first place. I ran away when I was 16. My Dad abused my Mom, two little sisters and Me. I’ve been
An unsettling evening wind started to blow its way through the Central Park. The sun began to set, sending a cascade of colors streaming through the evening sky. The day had started with the normal chaos that a normal Friday had encompassed. John was having difficulty finishing the last piece of business for that day, his mind kept day dreaming towards his lovely wife and wonderful children. As he set in his chair completely exhausted in his tattered office listening to the clock that was ticking in the background, and it approached the wishful hour of five o’clock.
The time span this book occurred in is from July 2006 to April 2007 in Charleston, South Carolina. Portraying as a homeless man, Shepard starts off in Crisis Ministries, a homeless shelter that would have “the resources necessary to get him [me] back on his [my] feet,” (Chapter 1, page 9) which was a great kick-starter for his project. Shepard would move into an attic of one of his boss's, George, friend, Mickey, because it was the “best all-around deal that he [I] was going to find,” (Chapter 11, page 137) and because he wanted to leave Crisis Ministries, due to Shepard accepting that the Crisis Ministries was unacceptable to consider to stay in. Afterward, Shepard bought an apartment with his co-worker, Derrick's, cousin, Bubble Gum,
One situation that I remember was when I personally saw a man, sweating and walking around in the heat, had passed my family and I will we were pulling out of our driveway. The man was obviously thirsty so as he was walking away I yelled for him to come over and I had given him to cold water bottles that were mine. He also said if I had any food and I actually had a small load of bread that I was eating, so I gave it to him. I told him that I was sorry I had nothing else to eat, but he humbly said thank you either a big smile on his face.
Steve walked out the door of his bedroom and onto his balcony he surveyed his brother Mark’s beautiful island and saw his brother’s house and separate office which were both larger than his house. Steve thought this was unfair because Mark was single, and lonely, and his house only had one person who lived in and his office had four people working in not living or sleeping in it. Steve was a failed basketball player and all he had in life was basketball, his wife Kate, and their twins Jack and Lucy that were 9 years old named Jack and Lucy. Mark only brought Steve and their sister Michelle’s family to L'île des Riches, French for Island of the rich, for company and because he loved them. Michelle and her husband had a girl, Sophie, so Mark
A vast amount of studies have been conducted on homelessness in Canada and what the looks like in our society. How can we change this to become a mare successful ideas of help? The main topic that is going to try to be addressed is Homelessness and how help may be provided to those who are in need. The first thing that needs to be addressed is how displayed in the following articles and are they beneficial to our society. The ideas that the following article was written by Racine, G (2002) about the woman telling their experiences with help from society, while in poverty.Another source that is going to be dissected is an article written by Anucha, U (2010) addresses are going to address is it true that Homelessness is housed but not helped? The next article is written and will be examined is by Fallis G (2010) that is going to address to be on our current housing policy for those without a home. The next article is written by Walsh, C.Graham, J.Shier, M. (2009) and the main goal of that is what are the goals for a homeless shelter as a connective? One of the last articles I am going to be critically analyzing is an article written by Brushett, K Royal Military College of Canada, Kingston, Ontario (2007) is one the people will go with the cuts to the housing policy. The final article that is going to be dissected written by Paul Morden; A story about College students holding a sleep out challenge held to spread awareness. The main
My friends often describe me as a cynic and a pessimist. For the most part, they're right. Sentiment loses value when it permeates one's attitudes and behavior just as the value of a commodity decreases as it becomes ubiquitous, so as a rule I reserve expressing sentiment for rare occasions that I deem worthy. Fortunately, even the harshest cynics are surprised sometimes.
The homeless stand down was an eye-opener experience for me. I had the opportunity to interact with several individuals, and one family. Initially I conducted some interviews with them to help complete the questionnaire; and the remainder of the time, I escorted the individuals and helped them choose items that were necessary for them. As I talked to each of them, I realized that the present state of these individuals were a product of the current economic situations. According to the National Homeless Coalition (2009), work factors are one of the many reasons why individuals are homeless. One of the individuals that I spoke to informed me that he was working a regular nine to five job at a construction site, but now due to the
I hear them get closer and closer as the porch creaks every step to the door. My heart feels like its pounding through my chest, and sweat is pouring off my face as I sprint in a panic. I hear the key turning and the door opening just as I jump out the window.
