The reason I have chosen to further my education in Criminal Justice is because I would like to become an FBI agent. I’m a single mother of two beautiful girls and the road thus far was not easy. Having to put school on hold due to several medical issues, that’s all in the past as we speak. I would like to continue to be the best role model for my children. I need to make a better foundation for them. My vision is clear and my interest to work for the Federal Bureau Investigation agency is back on the road again. I am determined to be great. I have successful completed my undergraduate program with a 3.87 GPA. As I look ahead I’m raising these wonderful queens; what better way may I set this perfect future without showing them to chase your
My desire for a career in law enforcement started while pursuing my undergraduate degree at the University of Central Florida. As a freshman biology major with hopes of becoming a Radiologist, it did not take me long to realize the medical field was not for me. Peers in my classes had a passion and interest for the material that I did not possess. My grades poorly reflected the type of student I was. Realizing it was time for a change, at the end of my sophomore year I started seeking guidance. Unbeknownst to me, my disinterest in the curriculum was a major contribution to my poor performance. I completed career assessments and sat with academic counselors in several different areas of study. I was feeling more confused than ever because Criminal Justice courses often sparked my interest, but I hesitated due to the dangerous nature of police work.
Air Force gave me invaluable experience and further vested my interest in the area of criminal justice and defense on the national level. Working as an Intelligence Analyst for the Department of Defense at the National Security Agency as well as serving as a Physical Training Leader taught me how to be an effective, diligent leader and developed an eventual decision to separate from the service and earn a Criminal Justice degree. While earning a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice, my original aim was to secure a career in Federal Law Enforcement; the U.S. Marshals Service and the FBI were at the top of my list. Federal jobs were often stagnant and difficult to attain at the time of my degree. I turned to a career in private security with emphasis on moving into a management position. Now as an officer in security management, my sights are set on advancing a career to the promotion of Site Manager and overseeing all security operations which includes working side by side with emergency departments such as local police officers and the fire department. Since I also highly value education, I am passionate about one day becoming an educator myself and using relevant experience and knowledge to contribute to the teaching of
Careers based around criminology play an essential part in everyday society, both protecting and stabilising communities and all who reside in them, and over the past few years it has become apparent to me that this is a subject I find both intriguing and compelling. My interest in the subject first developed in late childhood when I became fascinated with programmes such as Scott and Bailey, which look at crime prevention and the effect crime has on society. After spending a week of work experience with the MOD police based at DSTL at Porton Down, my passion for working within this field developed further, leading to a desire to understand why criminals act the way they do. This is ultimately what has led me to apply for the Criminology course. My A levels have helped me to develop my essay writing and analytical ability, focusing on investigating theories and texts and drawing my own conclusions from them.
Last year I was belligerent on what my purpose was, and what major to study. I continued to take classes to try and determine what to study but still was not definite on what I wanted to do. There was a career counselor that I met with to assist me in knowing my strengths weaknesses as well as my interest. I then took a career test where it was revealed that my strengths was helping others and a being amongst others. I always knew that I loved assisting others and eventually in my life I wanted to somehow work with individuals who suffer from substance abuse. I desire to obtain both a bachelor in criminal justice and social work. In my heart I know that I can help people with both majors, by assisting people through law enforcement as well
y work and personal experiences have influenced my decision to go back to college and my degree choice greatly. I would like to attain my degree in Criminal Justice to further my goals in the career I have already begun. Having over 8 years of experience in the youth correctional field, I am confident in my decision to further my education in criminal justice. I started working for the Division of Youth Corrections (DYC) in 2007 as an Administrative Assistant and through training and dedication to the victims I served, became a Certified Victim Advocate through the Colorado Organization for Victim Assistance. Part of my responsibilities included assisting victims through the critical stages of the adjudication process. I attended court hearings,
As a child, I always wanted a career enforcing the law. Weather it was with the police department or criminal justice was undecided at that time. As I grew older I pulled more to the fence of criminal justice. Simply because I do not like the way the system is set up.
To work in the field of criminal justice, whether with rehabilitating offenders or in research analysis, has always been a goal of mine stemming from the beginning of my undergraduate studies at Lakeland University. It is in the Reentry Unit of the Department of Corrections, that there is the emphasis to work with offenders in order to reduce recidivism with the focus of providing support in educational programming, skill building, and goal planning to prepare offenders for community reintegration. Overall, the Reentry Unit of correctional system is an integral portion that provides a pathway for offenders to reintegrate.
When I entered Loyola University Chicago in the fall on 2017, I still felt understandably unsure as to what both my academic and my professional future might hold for me. After two semesters of exploring my interests and growing more confident in my abilities, I feel very secure in what the future may hold.
Coming into Westfield I was convince that criminal justice was the major for me. Starting off my freshmen year I took an intro to criminal justice class and it was that class that made me realized criminal justice wasn’t for me. Once I dropped criminal justice I became undeclared I kept taking class in different area studies to see if I enjoyed any type of major. It was hard on me at first because I struggled so much trying to find a major that I truly thought was good for me.
During the course of my undergraduate work I spent a good deal of time considering exactly what I wished to do after I received my Associate of Arts degree in Criminal Justice and my Bachelor of Science degree in Justice Studies. Ever since I was a child I have had an interest in law enforcement in some way or another. Having spent a good deal of my childhood fishing and hiking I was always interested in environmental conservation, so with that in mind I always had an interest in becoming a game warden or a forest ranger. As time has gone on I still hold on to the ideas and the ideals that I held when I was younger, but now I also would consider a career in a federal law enforcement organization such as the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), National Security Agency (NSA), or the like. Ultimately I
My interest in criminal justice goes back to when I was child. Growing up in the South Bronx seeing my people getting arrested for petty or serious crime, not only inspire me to help my community but to help make the criminal justice system better for everyone. I know that John Jay College will be the school to enhance my knowledge in justice and crime. I remember taking SAT pre classes in John Jay College when I was I high school. Looking at the classroom seeing the professor engage with the students and the diversity in the student body helped md understand that this is the environment I want to be a part of.
Receiving a Master’s degree has always been on my list of goals and criminal justice has always been one of my peak interests. I am currently employed as a caseworker at the York County Assistance Office. I have been employed through state for the last three years and recently have been promoted to a caseworker position. While searching for a criminal justice online program, I came across different colleges and universities. Saint Joseph University has become my top pick.
There are many reasons why I selected the field of criminal justice as a major. This field is so broad that it’s not just one job that I would be limited too if and when I get a job in this feild. Helping others as well as Unique experiences in different opportunities. Ever since I was a young boy, probably about the age of three i always wanted to be a police officer.
Learning has always been rather enjoyable to me. I’ve learned from people whom I’d not once thought I would connect with. This is what I find to be beautiful about learning it can be done anywhere and often is unexpected. After graduating with a Bachelor’s of Science in criminal justice and criminology, I initiated the next level of learning in my career with the state of North Carolina as a correctional officer and I have recently embarked on a new journey in my career and joined community corrections. I’m optimistic about advancement with in the criminal justice field and it is my professional goal to advance as high in the chain of command as possible.
The law was put in place in numerous civilizations, empires, and nations in order to help fight against injustice. It was a tool for the weak and voice for the speechless. Over the decades many individuals have succeeded in manipulating the law in order to serve personal agendas. I truly believe that public service is the essential purpose of the law and that’s why I wish too fulfill a meaningful career in the field of law.
