A Modern Woman A Modern woman goes beyond stereotypes, she ignores what is negatively expected of her and she makes the most of the opportunities and makes something out of herself. She is brave, intelligent and knows she is worthy of so much. She fights back and lets no one make her feel less. She is strong, independent and doesn't let any man tell her otherwise. She demands to be treated as equal and not considered weak; she wants to be considered a person. A life for a Woman has changed throughout the years. Women now have more opportunities. They can accomplish anything that a man can do. As Cristina Hartmann, a worker at Federal Communications Commission says, “Yes,

All that couldn't be possible for a woman from the past. They couldn't go to school, work, or vote. They were expected to stay home, clean the house, wash clothes, cook dinner, and take care of the children. Yet, after everything and all the hard work at home, they weren't credited at all, they weren't considered hard workers. They were considered delicate and soft human beings that weren't made to lead. We as a society have progressed and improved so much since then. Society has a whole different perspective today on what a woman …show more content…
She has fought for gender equality, and women's rights. She encourages girls to go out there and prove society wrong. She fights hard for women to know they deserve respect and are worth everything. "Every mother works hard, and every woman deserves to be respected.”- Michelle Obama (BUSTLE). She lets known that she is a supporter, and shows that for a country to function, their women need recognition as well. "No country can ever truly flourish if it stifles the potential of its women and deprives itself of the contributions of half of its citizens." - Michelle Obama(BUSTLE). Michelle encourages women to be there for each other, to support, and respect. At these times where we are still fighting for equality, it's best if we stick together than to see each other as competition. "As women, we must stand up for each other."- Michelle Obama (BUSTLE). As women, we must fight together, we are sisters, and we shouldn't be side by side fighting with each other. "Compete with the boys. Beat the boys."- Michelle Obama
First African American Lady, Michelle Obama has fought to keep America together. She has endorsed arts education for underachieving schools, fought for healthier school lunches and girls’ education, supported strong school counselors, encouraged young women, and introduced to the world the
They now have more options and have more authoritative power. Jobs of woman are not limited to staying home and taking care of the children, some women are CEOS of major companies. Even though witch hunts and witch trials are a thing of the past; prejudice and discrimination against women is still present in today’s society. A big argument that is occurring in the present day is that women are not getting paid as much as their male counterparts. Protests to close the wage gap have occurred frequently in the 21st century. No official law has been passed yet to give women equal pay, but maybe it will occur in the distant
Women were in charge of the kitchen and the children as previously mentioned, yet no one can really determine the emotional and mental impacts that achieving those set molds can cause on a person. Men were held to such high standards of providing for their family, bring active in society, and climbing the social hierarchy. If under any circumstances they do not meet these standards, they have failed their purpose of life. The torment of not fulfilling your single purpose in life whether it be for a female or a male can be tantalizing. The twenty-first century made efforts for the society to change, but there's still a lot to do. While men’s egos will be hurt by superior women, since we can not as a society develop our mindset and are stuck in the past, there are few individuals that have fought tirelessly for equality. The ability to work and gain money to a similar capacity as the once believed sole breadwinner has positively affected the confidence of the modern women. Nowadays there are multiple feminist organizations that continue to fight for the equal rights of the sexes including: International Women's Health Coalition, Honour for Women National Campaign, and the National Organization for
Since all these changes happened back then it let women of the 21st century have options to do what they want. Now we attend school longer, we get the same education as
The amount of knowledge and powerful words that can actually get to one’s head is amazing. Michelle Obama was the First Lady for 8 years and stood by former President Barack Obamas side. She is a great example of what today’s kids should look up to. A woman with dedication to her word. A woman with dedication to what she believes. It is pretty easy to say that she has become an impressive public speaker who can deliver a powerful speech to her supporters. In her speech at the DNC in 2016, Michelle Obama did not fill her supporter’s heads with politics and facts, but a great use of personal experience, feelings and connections. Her love for this country and her love for her family is one thing that brought her audience together. In fact, if it wasn’t the great use of ethos, pathos and logos Michelle Obamas speech would have probably have been like any other.
Women’s rights have improved drastically since that time but there still is a stigma that men are better than women. This type of view is wrong and shouldn’t even be thought about in the world we live into today. Woman server a great purpose in the world we live in and should be considered equal in all aspects of life. If one were to ponder this idea seriously we can see without out women no children are born. The sad truth is that women still have to fight for their rights in every aspect of their daily lives. The typical women in society makes only .70 cents for every dollar that a man would make doing the same job. One would think that one hundred and fifty years later women would be considered equal counterparts to men. “There has been progress toward greater workplace equality, but we still have a long ways to
On June 4th, 1919 Women's suffrage was passed by Congress. This was later called the 19th Amendment. This Amendment granted women the right to vote. Women could now do what men have done, and they can do it just as good or better. Before this Amendment was ratified, women had been taken for granted. They had the same rights as slaves, if not less. For many years women have not had a voice in society, they had been less than a man. Women did all of the housework, took care of the children, cooked, and many more things an average “ housewife” did.
During most of the early 1800s and 1900s women have continuously been perceived to get married and be fragile. These women are said to be very dependent on a man, and unmarried women they had to find a perfect suitor in order to be considered a happy woman. Once the war hit, these old stereotypes would be broken. Women now had access to new life changing opportunities. The war gave women chances to get jobs they were never authorized to do and allowed them to stop being so dependent on the help of a men. It also gave them new duties, which would make them more responsible and treated differently. Even with these wars giving them more opportunities to do things, women still struggled with not being good enough and were limited in the amount
Imagine, you didn’t have the right to vote, to get your own money, or to get a good education just because you weren’t a specific gender or color ? What would you do about it ? Would you just let these things make you who you are, or would you fight for your rights. More than 70 years ago people weren't treated the way we are now. If you were a women then you would probably be at home cleaning or making meals for your family or even taking care of your children .While your husband is going to work and earning his own money. If you were a women you wouldn’t be able to work for your own money, your money would become your husbands money because your husband has the right to vote, to work, and more. Many ladies took a stand for what they believed in. One great lady who stood up for her rights was Amelia Jenks Bloomer. She impacted women's history in many ways.
We have progressed a lot as a society. No longer are women stuck at home cooking and taking care of children. Now, more than ever, women have the same opportunities to achieve just as much men. There are no jobs that men do that women can’t. Women can vote, play
America is the land of opportunity. It is a place of rebirth, hope, and freedom. However, it was not always like that for women. Many times in history women were oppressed, belittled, and deprived of the opportunity to learn and work in their desired profession. Instead, their life was confined to the home and family. While this was a noble role, many females felt that they were being restricted and therefore desired more independence. In America, women started to break the mold in 1848 and continued to push for social, political, educational, and career freedom. By the 1920s, women had experienced significant “liberation”, as they were then allowed to vote, hold public office, gain a higher education, obtain new jobs, drastically change
Grew up on the Southside of Chicago, earned degrees from Princeton and Harvard Law School, married the man she loved, became the first black woman to be the First Lady of the United States, improved civil rights for people of color, and changed the face of feminism; these are some, but most certainly not all, of the accomplishments of the same woman, Michelle Obama. She is overall an inspiring woman to so many people that have had to struggle in life. She has done everything in her power to help those people lead a life of justice and equality that they otherwise, had been prevented from doing. Michelle Obama has achieved things most others with her upbringing could only dream of. She used her achievements to give those people a better chance. Michelle Obama has become an extremely important figure in America because of her inspiring advocacy for women, girls, and people of color, and she was doing this far before she became the first lady of the United States.
Women began to understand that they are seen as less than man and were determined to make a difference. This is very important
Michelle Obama has been honest and dedicated in many areas during her husband's presidency. In particular, she provided personal support. An example is her dedication to solving childhood obesity. The Let’s Move campaign’s goal was to combat the epidemic of childhood obesity through a comprehensive approach that builds on effective strategies, and mobilizes public and private sector resources. Michelle helped people work effectively through this campaign. She also supported military families which has been part of what makes her a great leader. She called herself “Mom-in-chief,” and applied herself to issues ranging from children’s education to the needs of military families. This included launching the Let Girls Learn initiative to fund girls’
Women have not always been as respected in society as they are now. In early America, women were banned from participating in most parts of society and their lives were mainly controlled by their fathers and husbands. While the women’s rights movement can be tracked as far back as 1850 is wasn’t until the early 1960s that
