Every day, living creatures are making decisions. Whether the decisions are big or small, they have to be made. As the decisions are performed, there is a process that one goes through. Different types of thinking styles and thought processes are available. The way one feels, believes, attitudes, and relating ideas can play a big part in their thinking styles. Various methods of thinking and thinking styles are used. In this paper the subject is to discuss is three different types of thinking styles. The three different styles discussed will be creative, pessimistic, and optimistic thinking. 1). Creating thinking not only involves inventing something new, creativity also involves re-invention. Consider how creating thinking has improved the personal computer over the past 20 years, from floppy to thumb drives, from megabytes to gigabytes.
Another thinking type is optimistic thinking, also known as positive thinking. Webster’s Dictionary defines optimistic as an inclination to put the most favorable construction upon actions and events or to anticipate the best outcome. The optimistic thinker sees the positive aspects of an event or situation and allows them to take advantage of potential possibilities. For example, an optimistic thinker may believe that losing his or her job presents them with new opportunities or a venture into another field.
The opposite of optimistic thinking is pessimistic thinking. Pessimists “see reality and usually give their doses when others least expect it. They know what could go wrong in a situation--which can help avoid disaster. However, they're usually viewed as the naysayers” (Whitt, 2008, para. 5). In other words, an individual’s pessimistic thinking involves stressing negative points and visioning unfavorable outcomes. For example, the pessimistic thinker may believe losing his or her job is the end of the world, or is something that will be difficult to overcome.
