When I first became aware of the atrocities that have transpired the last few years in Yulin, I became resolute in demanding change. My husband and I were aghast at the cruelty to these wonderful creatures, known as man's best friend.
We have marched through the city, to the Chinese embassy, we have created banners placards T-shirts, and we are in the midst of producing a documentary. We created World Dog Day to celebrate dogs, but also to garner support against the dog meat trade.
We released a PSA, and soon to release a song given to us by the great Diane Warren and sung by Leona Lewis in an attempt to draw attention to Yulin and ending this cruelty. My partner Dr. John Sessa is as committed as we are.

According to Ann Marie Paulin in “Cruelty, Civility and Other Weighty Matters”, the mass media are discriminating against overweight people, which creates a society where being fat is looked down upon. Paulin argues that, “the media are notorious for getting things less than accurate” (243), therefore we shouldn’t believe how they depict fat people on tv, magazines and other media sources. The author believes that not all overweight people are like, how the media portrays them, but rather their lifestyle is influenced by the culture we live in. She claimed that, “Sugary or fatty foods are often available in grab and go packages that are so much easier to take to work or eat in the car than making a healthy snack” (245). She believe there are evidence to show that humans are naturally attracted to unhealthy foods, but society continue to manufacture them to make people eat more (243-249). I agree with Paulin about how the media need to stop fat shaming because it’s not only making people feel bad, but it is promoting obesity.
How does Hallie characterize cruelty? Why does he think that institutionalized cruelty is the worst kind of cruelty?
Our call to action is to ask everyone to adopt a dog or even help out at the shelter.
Dogs are what their owners make of them, they are shere products of their environments and feed off of how their owners treat them. For example, in America pit bulls, over the years have been portrayed as harmful or aggressive. These views have lead to manying uncompassionate acts towards this lost breed. Such as, selling the dogs for drugs to people who could care less about them to forcing pitbulls in harmful dog fights. In America’s society today some often view pitbulls as just a way of breeding dogs. This means that they essentially are not taking part in what it actually means to have a pet. People are suppose to provide, feed, care, and love their dogs and in some cases that’s not their important objective. The underlying issue that
One of the biggest problems facing American families today is the inability to afford fresh, nutrient filled food. In the United States today over 13 million families don’t have the money to buy fresh food and have to live on unhealthy diets. In the essay Prudence or Cruelty, author Nicholas Kristof talks about how much of a danger malnutrition is to poorer American families. Kristof mentions that the sole reason for such a high rate of malnutrition in poor U.S citizens stems from the lack of money to buy fresh goods. The price of fresh goods is too much compared to the amount of money these families are making. With multiple mouths to feed and a limited budget, going to the grocery store for these families is almost unheard of. These families

the big idea: cruelty leads to dehumanization (either by idolizing someone as a hero: ‘the undefeatable’, ‘god-like’, or villainizing someone: ‘tyrannus villain’, ‘hell-creature’, ‘earth-razer’)
Pro: The pro side of having marijuana is that it relieve pain, reduce vomiting and nausea, muscles spams, and prevent growth of blood vessels that supplies tumors. Marijuana is also a lot cheaper and it’ also less harmful than, any other toxic drug. Marijuana has a chemical called cannabinoid that can cause some good physical effects on one’s body. Over the centuries, animals have suffered from cruelty from humans. In the United States, animals are beaten, neglected, or forced to struggle for survival. Animals have been inflicted with pain from humans for reasons other than self-defense. They have been slaughtered for their food and fur for personal gain in profit. In a majority of cases they have even been abused for someone’s own personal amusement or out of rage filled impulses. In some cases animals are found and rescued. They are given the second chance in life to experience what life should be like compared to what they once had.
When first beginning to read this novel the reader may think that Jacob Portman is a very average kid with not many friends, who grew up listening to his grandfather’s fairytales until he got too old to believe, but in actuality he contains a fantastic and rather peculiar power able to help save the world as we know it. As the prologue opens we learn that Jacob’s grandfather known as Grandpa Portman, used to tell him fantastic tales of an island that knew not age, inhabited by children with marvelous powers and a rather odd bird, all of which could never grow old. Jacob used to wholeheartedly believe the supposed stories of his grandfather’s childhood, going so far as to
With the horrific thought of dogs being trained to fight and kill, the two top agencies, the ASPCA and the Humane Society, are doing what the can to try to make society aware of the cruelty of dog fighting. There are also the local law enforcement agencies that are doing everything that they can to stop this cruelty to animals by arresting the people that they can catch illegally fighting dogs. To do away with street dog
Animals are a big part of many people’s lives. They provide companionship; they provide daily assistance to those that have deficits and are having difficulty functioning in their daily life; they provide security and help keep a watchful eye on things, plus so much more. And yet, with all that animals do for us, there are those that are treated with such little regard, care, and cruelty. They are unable to speak for themselves and therefore, they need a voice to speak for them.
The idea took off in the U.S. as an annual event after being proposed by the Doris Day Animal League (DDAL) in 1995 to promote the effectiveness of neutering animals as a means of saving many of them from unfortunate urban lives. In 2006, after the DDAL merged with the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS), the tradition went global and continues to this day under the title World Spay Day.
For me, the professional seminar was very useful in thoroughly developing this competency. The seminar allowed the class and I to discuss different behaviours observed in the different school and to establish which ones we preferred and the ones we disliked and did not want to adopt in our future classrooms. This reflection was also done individually by going over the notes I have taken over the past three weeks and highlighting the positive teaching methods.
Animal Cruelty is a problem that many ignore. People are oblivious to these animals and the negligence their owners show. Animal cruelty is an underlying problem in today’s society, and the only way to counteract these problems, is for this generation to do something about it.
