Cultural Diffusion: Scope or Threat
We are leaving in the age of science. Science gives us a lot of things. Though science is for our own good, some of the gifts blessed us because of proper use, and the others are destroying our life because of a massive misuse. Cultural diffusion is such an example of the second type of the gift. This was started to broad our mind and thinking, know about others, learn about others. But as we are misusing this great blessing, we are having those very little.
At first, we have to know ‘Cultural diffusion’ properly. So, what is this ‘Cultural diffusion’? What does it mean? Cultural diffusion is the spreading of ideas or products from one culture to another.

Is it possible in our culture or society?? But yes it is possible in Hindi serials. Young generation are watching these serials and they are taking the negative sides of these serials which are fake not real. Small dresses, hot girls, fashion, style, marriage, live together and making illegal relationship of a married person these are the main features of Hindi serials. They do this to increase their TRP. But in reality it is creating bad impact on our young generation.
This is a Bar Graph showing different Hindi channels the women of Bangladesh watch.
Compared to Hindi serials, the Bangladeshi serials are so much better. Yes, they may not be full of glitz and glamour, but there is a bit of reality in them. The Bangladeshi serials do not teach people to suspect or hate one another or arouse jealousy in people. Bangladeshi programmes are centred on ordinary people and they reflect the real Bangladesh. But maybe not all the programmes are like this.
There are some Bangladeshi entertainers who believe that they would be more successful if they copied Hindi serials and not to forget the often rather objectionable and vulgar music videos. There was also a time when Bangla film songs were an exact copy of Indian film songs. There still is a lot of influence of Indian movies in the Bangla film industry starting from the plot of the film, the costumes, songs, etc.
Fortunately, things have started to change. Bangladeshi
There were many cases of cultural diffusion in all of Asia. East Asia included the spread of Confucianism and Buddhism. Both of these had a positive and negative effect, because at times they went against each other. Buddhism had a real negative effect because of its belief of reincarnation. One of the main reasons why there are so many suicide cases in east Asia. Confucianism had a overall good effect because it taught a moral code. A example of cultural diffusion in South Asia would be the spread of Hinduism. It had a positive effect because it taught about telling the truth. Southeast Asia was greatly influenced by Theravada Buddhism. It teaches about the follower staying away from all evil. Southeast Asia was also greatly influenced by
Why are Some Nations Rich and Others Poor? Introduction Over the years, a nation’s economy will change drastically and, due to a large variety of factors, there are now countries who are significantly wealthier than others. Cortney McMath Many ideas and practices that are applied here in the United States are a result of cultural diffusion from Mexico. Cultural diffusion is defined as “the spread of cultural beliefs and social activities from one group to another.” In today’s times, people are more open and welcoming of other cultures, while they are still preserving their own in the process. Throughout, the cultural portfolio project, many connections and differences have been made between my lifestyle and values here in the United States with Mexico’s lifestyle.
One way that culture is developed in a society is through innovation. Innovation happens when someone invents, discovers, or combines something that could have an affect on a culture. Another way culture is developed is through diffusion. Diffusion is the process in which a piece of culture is transferred form on society to another.
America is a country where individuals are able to find their own niche within their community, to connect with other individuals with common beliefs, and to have an American identity without losing their own roots. One of the reasons why America is what it is today is because of how its history was started and founded. Ever since its discovery, people from different continents such as Africa, Europe, and Asia have immigrated to America for various reasons, allowing America to be ethnically diverse. Throughout the world, cultural diffusion occurs; however, in America, cultural diffusion has been part of the country’s culture since the colonial era. For example, the colonies in America did not only interact with their mother country,
Through stories like Blaxicans, Of Plymouth Plantation, and Mother Tongue, the element of immigration is shown strongly throughout. The encounters of immigration are in America with other cultures and each culture deals with different encounters followed by different struggles. These encounters affected the people coming to america and the people already in America but overall it changed America as a whole nation. Immigration changed America and the lives of those who settled here through widespreads of cultural diffusion.
At this point of time, globalization has grown to be a phenomenon that is significantly important economically, politically, and culturally. The amalgamation and incorporation of the world economy around the globe has reshaped business. Not only this, it has created "new social classes, different jobs, unimaginable wealth, and, occasionally, wretched poverty" (Kiggundu 2002, p. 4) by restructuring the lives of the individuals. For some, globalization is associated to modernism and contemporary practices. Others understand it as American domination (particularly those living in Asia). On the other hand, some people believe it to be the emasculation of America (Kiggundu 2002, p. 4).

Cultural diffusion is the spread of cultural ideas from their place of origin to other regions, groups or nations. Norfolk Island was predominantly a Polynesian cultural community. Today’s cultural community involves many aspects of British and Pitcairn culture. Moreover, the island has benefited greatly from the spread of foreign cultures. British immigrants migrate from England, and brought their own skills, tradition, cultural beliefs, and social activities. The British established Norfolk Island as a penal colony, and they send criminals from Sydney, Australia to the island. Also, their culture spread, as they settled at Norfolk Island. However, the penal colony abandoned, and the population declined. The British Pitcairn islanders (descentants
In the United States, there were many immigrants, and there were opportunities to get jobs for immigrants. Therefore, many immigrants believed that they spend better life in the U.S. than they spend life in the home country. It is very important that cultural and social mobility increase in citizens, especially poor people, and I foresee a time when I will be economically mobile for several reasons.
‘Made in Bangladesh’ is an episode from the CBC TV series, ‘The Fifth Estate’ that attempts to investigate the tragic Rana Plaza accident. It also promotes unity when people appreciate each other’s cultures. Cultural leveling is the process of interaction between cultures in the process of travelling and communicating. It is most seen in dominant cultures such as the Americans and British who love to tour the world hence displaying their cultures to new people. Cultural diffusion is when cultures are learned or adopted from other groups while cultural leveling is when cultures become the same. They are similar in that there is interaction of different groups in both cases. An example of cultural diffusion today takes place when people are exposed to foreign cultures. It occurs when students are offered scholarships to study in other countries where they learn new ways of living and adopt them. Another example of cultural diffusion is how basketball is now a huge part of the Japanese culture. Cultural leveling on the other hand has been extended through social media, televisions and radios. For example ways of dressing for various cultures has been leveled through influence of social media. Choice of music has also been made uniform when radio stations play common songs to different cultures. Cultural leveling is the process of cultures becoming very similar to each other. For example, McDonalds can be seen all over Europe and US has adopted a lot of European fashion and even music. What about Mickey Mouse and Flintstones? They are very popular in
Cultural individuality and distinctiveness is the pride of every nation. All communities rejoice in the richness and exoticness of their own cultural symbols, be it dressing, architecture, language or way-of-life. With the dawn of globalization, however, cultural variety and distinguishing characteristics are vanishing; giving rise to a monoculture common to all. While this may be a harbinger of unity and relatedness among all people of the world, it also damages the unique cultural identities they once took pride in. This paper discusses the effects of globalization on culture, along with its positive and negative effects. Since the effects of globalization on culture are non-exhaustive, it is attempted to incorporate a few of the most
