It is a wonderful idea for teens to have curfews because it teaches them to be responsible and also considerate of other people around them. As teenagers, it is natural for adolescents to feel like their freedoms are being taken away and that their parents don’t know what is best. Most people would say yes. This is because many crimes, such as burglary, rape, and drunk driving occur much more often at night than during the day. According to the National Crime Victimization Survey, two-thirds of sexual assaults happen at night. Curfews can prevent teenagers from interacting with people who commit these crimes, as well as keep them inside their rooms so they can’t commit these crimes themselves. As it is seen in the news very often, most DUI’s are given to teenagers who are driving home on their way back from a party they shouldn’t have been at. That is the purpose of these kinds of parties being late at night, so teens can do things such as drinking, smoking, and drugs, which they cannot do as easily in broad daylight. I believe that if a parent sets a curfew and sticks by it firmly, then the number of DUI’s will greatly decrease. In addition, many states have laws and restricted licenses for teens regarding how late they are permitted to drive. Setting a curfew can help your child abide these laws and is a good way of justifying your having a curfew for them. Our streets will be much safer if teenagers everywhere had a curfew which they had to abide by. In addition to everything previously mentioned, curfews can also greatly improve a teenagers relationship with their parents. Knowing that your teenager is home safe and sound at a specific time definitely beats waiting up every weekend until the hours of the night wondering if he/she is
It is hard for law enforcement to enforce curfews and curfew violations are not taken seriously. Juvenile curfews will not stop young people who are intent on committing crime, in part, because the penalties for a curfew violation are not that serious (O 'Neil). There are also limited police officers to help with the enforcement of curfews. Because of the curfews, it takes the police away from more serious crime that are happening in cities across the United States. The enforcement of juvenile curfews is hard to put into effect, and there are limited police officers to enforce these curfews, which are often not even taken seriously.

In contrast, driving and hanging out during later night hours could put teens in risky situations. Driving or traveling at night may impose greater dangers than traveling at daytime. In addition, curfew keeps them away from temptations such as drug use, violent acts, heavy partying, and alcohol intake. Which some of these could possibly reduce the risk of automobile accidents and injuries that may result in that. They are both very different yet understandable points of views.
Although having a curfew for it to be illegal for teenagers to be on the streets after ten o’clock p.m. on weekdays or after midnight on weekends would be beneficial in exceptional and deficient ways, many citizens will disagree with having a curfew. The eminently important reason Dierks, Arkansas, should have a teenage curfew is for the security of the teenagers. Another reason is for the parent to have control over their child, instead of their child being undisciplined. On the other hand, having a curfew could hinder maturity.
Were you ever walking to the store for a late night snack but its past curfew, and you get stopped and then you end up getting a fine just because you wanted a snack. Many teenagers aren’t doing anything illegal but are past curfew and get wrongfully accused of doing things they were never going to do. Curfews don’t keep teens out of trouble because they violate rights, ineffective and costly, and it wastes time.
However, it helps adults with kids that do not listen and keeps them in Earlier. Lots of adults have spoken out about how Law set curfews wouldn't help their child get inside earlier. “ We don’t need laws to keep our children in at a certain time”. If the greasers had set curfews for laws it would have kept them from bringing nuisance to the neighborhood. Anyway there is a benefit if curfews are set because many kids don’t listen to their parents but with a set curfew it can help get their kids in earlier.
In today’s society, many people fear that if teens are out late they are participating in mischief or that they are more likely to be involved in criminal activity. Many feel that by creating a city wide curfew for teens crime would be reduced. However, in reality, most crimes are committed during the day by adult offenders, not by individuals under the age of 18. A curfew for teens would not be the right way to go.
Although many people think teenagers should be home by 10, but I think teenagers should have the curfew because they are young adults, they know right from wrong, they should know not to get in trouble.

Although, Some people say that a curfew is not necessarily for keeping teens out of trouble. It is for keeping the town quiet at night and gives everyone some peaceful rest at night. In the article, “Manitoba town to ban kids at night”, the mayor of Killarney, Manitoba sates,” ‘It’s not that we have a big crime problem, we just have some youngsters out to all hours of the night disturbing the peace.’ ” An easier method for this is just to have a few police working at night to ensure peace. A demanding curfew that punishes many for doing nothing is simply unnecessary. “‘Ultimately, curfew laws don't make us more safe, but they make us less free,’ says Joe Cook, executive director of the Dallas ACLU” (Rosado and Manly).
It is very important for the safety and well being of the youth in our community that a curfew be issued and enforced. As of late there have been several petty crimes perpetrated in the late evening hours by some of the youth in our community. I suggest that we impose a curfew limiting the juveniles under the age of 18 to being accompanied by a parent or guardian between the hours of 11:00 pm and 5:30 am. This is to ensure that we limit crimes of opportunity as well as ensuring the safety of our children and other citizens within our community.
Having a teenage curfew is ineffective and useless. Many people argue that the curfews are necessary because it will keep young people out of trouble. They also say that teenagers are more likely to get in trouble late than they would during daylight. Teens are looked at as the age group that causes the most trouble, and society targets them when it comes to matter for crime, however many people believe that teens are responsible for a large percentage of crimes and that having a curfew in effect will help lower crime rates. I disagree with this because I don't think teenagers should be forced to follow a ridged time schedule because of a curfew.
Even with a curfew teens will do what they want to do. If that means sneaking out, lying or skipping school or etc. sneaking out gives a teen a thrill and like they are invincible. That just makes them more likely to do much more dangerous stuff. Also, having a curfew just adds stress on a teen, because they will freak out about running late and traffic causing them to be late. If anyone says that kids will be too scared to sneak out, well wouldn't they be to break an actual law? Does curfew really keep teens out of trouble?
