2.1 Curiosity Curiosity reflects an essential desire for new information to inspire interest and/or ignore uncertainty, which is aroused by novel, complex, and therefore can motivate exploratory behavior (Litman et al., 2005). There are four type diverse type of curiosity that had found from researchers which is perceptual, epistemic, sensory, and interpersonal. According to Malone (1981), perceptual curiosity is induced by complex or uncertain patterns of sensory stimulation such as sounds and sights that can encourage behaviors in obtain a new information. Epistemic curiosity is defined as the desire that inspires individuals to learn new ideas, eliminate information gaps, and solve rational problems (Litman, 2008). However, sensory curiosity is defined as the changes in light, sound, or other sensory stimuli of an environment to attract value (Malone, 1981). Finally, interpersonal curiosity is the fundamental intention for looking personal detail, such as that about people’s public and emotion in order to reduce uncertainty about people (Litman and Pezzo, 2007). For many years, psychologists have been interested in studying human behavior and how our brains function. Psychological research has been mainly geared towards discovering parts of the brain, and the environment that influences our behavior as individuals. Curiosity is a key aspect of human behavior, allowing individuals to learn and explore in their environment. Curiosity is the desire to learn or know about something that leads to positive and negative outcomes . The ancient Greek tale of the 'Pandora effect' (ie to open the box because you don’t know what's in it) offers unique insight into curiosity, suggesting that an individuals inquisitive behavior may yield negative consequences. Whilst the Pandora effect explains one possible outcome to curiosity it lacks key scientific evidence which is crucial in enhancing its validity. This has prompted psychologists to investigate and predict decisions and behavior that pertain to curiosity.

Grasslands scenarios are used in the studies of adaptive memory since they provoke similar situations to the ones our evolutionary ancestors faced. Researchers in this field try to understand how evolution might have forged human memory. A way to look at this hypothesis is through the grassland scenarios as they evoke survival problems; finding food, water and shelter.
Traditionally flirting is associated with initiation of relationship or as a tool to have sex (Frisby, 2009). However, people have more than two reasons to flirt. Henningsen (2004) developed a typology of six flirting motivations that include: sex, relational (increase or maintain intimacy in an existing relationship), exploring (test another’s interest in a relationship), fun, esteem (to increase one’s own self-esteem), and instrumental motivation (to gain rewards from another person). Most research on flirting motivations was performed on individuals who are single or recently got into new relationships (Frisby, 2009). However, little attention was devoted to explore flirting within ongoing relationships, specifically within married couples.
